Patients are victimized by misdiagnoses, medical errors, and gaslighting. Learn what you can do to advocate for yourself in our challenging healthcare system. In this live session, Dr. Anthony Kaveh delves into the pervasive issue of medical victimization. From the operating room to everyday healthcare settings, patients often face emotional and psychological challenges that are too frequently dismissed or mislabeled.
Dr. Kaveh discusses the history and implications of terms like "hysterical" and the profound effects of misdiagnoses and medical errors. He shares practical advice on advocating for oneself within a fragmented healthcare system, highlights the importance of a just culture in medicine, and provides actionable tips for patients to regain confidence and effectively communicate with healthcare providers. Join the conversation and learn how to take charge of your health journey.
Important takeaways:
(1) Victim comes from Latin for "sacrificial" (like animals, but in medicine it's almost referring to patients).
(2) Misdiagnoses and medical errors and gaslighting go hand-in-hand. We have a phrase: "Nice patients come out last..."
(3) Healthcare is impersonal and you should always request a contact method for your doctor or healthcare team at every appointment.
(4) Self-victimization is an abusive relationship with yourself and can torpedo your self-healing.

@@Silenceisconsent Yeah that sounds about right. What really annoys me is that they find the notes from the doctor who doesn't listen and just gaslights, but everything else doesn't exist. I had a surgeon say that I needed an EGD, UGI, ph test, and esophageal manometry before seeing a surgeon. Literally had all of those done...she just didn't bother to look.

Happened to me again on Tuesday after I asked what could have happened during cataract surgery that had an outcome for me that was painful and took a month to improve. That doctor didn't even do the surgery but it wound up sounding like they were friends. The blame was placed on me and I was unconscious during the procedure. Their voice kept rising and I finally cut it off and said that I didn't say anything derogatory against anyone, I just said that it was an awful experience for ME. More gaslighting and accusations by then followed. Just a horrible experience all around.

I've been complaining of earaches, especially when any air gets blown in them, cold or warm, and some swelling on the bones behind my ear. My latest GP, who I've complained about this issue to for a few years, finally said, listen, I'm not an ENT, you need to get one. I asked, could you at the least please look in my ear and see if it looks ok. You would have thought I had asked him to wash my feet.

I have a very symptomatic fibroid that has caused severe pain and bleeding. It has been a nightmare. I was recently diagnosed with a DVT. I told 2 ER doctors, an urgent care doctor, 2 OBGYNs, and an advice nurse that stopping birth control was going to cause horrific bleeding and I was already severely anemic. I asked what I should do and begged for help. They all treated me like crap and like I was silly. They apparently know more about my body than I do. They said I was worrying for nothing and that I didn't know that was going to happen. Less than a week after stopping the birth control I was admitted to the hospital and had to be given blood transfusions. They left me to suffer and treated me like I was some stupid hysterical woman. It is ridiculous. They had zero compassion. Shout out to the medical records worker who accidentally sent me a copy of the messages sent between my doctors. Now I know just how much my doctors dislike me. Why be a doctor if you think only certain people deserve help?
@jpslaym0936

Its not only ridiculous, it goes directly against the hippocratic oath and their function as a healing professional. Its not you, its the insurance and profit based medical industry, but the ultimate responsibility still lies with the MDs themselves. I have changed MDs prior to surgeries for this behavior and had to wait another 6 mo, but you are dealing with short time horizon, dangerous conditions so didnt have so many options Dont keep blaming yourself its not you

As for hyperthyroidism, you would only need iodine, as in my case. I was on meds 100mcg daily for 5 yrs, and then the Lord led me to Lugol's solution iodine drops. I took 5 drops daily and my thyroid started producing my own thyroxin. Within months i was off meds and still am, 4 yrs later. Feeling great. I am 71. In my case my blood tests were always normal, but i felt bad. I googled it n found out 30% of ppl who have hypo test normal and science doesn't know why. I was one of them. Best way to see if you are hypo is to take your basal body temperature every morning as soon as you wake up BEFORE YOU GET UP. Normal is 36.2°C mine was 34.2 or lower for an entire month. One week is enough to do it. I was also cold most of the time. Iodine is a must for thyroid function and all other glands. Prevents also cyst formation and is given to cancer patients. Boosts immunity. When i told my British educated gastroenterologist about it, she was shocked. She said they don't teach them that in medical school. Of course they don't. How else would pharma mafia otherwise make a fortune, if iodine is a cheap fix for many health problems? Google Hypothyroidism and also dr. David Brownstein. There are many videos about iodine.

Did a Psychiatrist dx your hypothyroidism, type 2 diabetes? Why on earth didn't you go to your primary doctor or GYN? Did you just go to your Psychiatrist for AN eating disorder and he just had you get blood work to see if your thyroid was to low and to check for diabetes?

I had gone to my PCP and OB/ Gyn. The problem was that the system of care I was in was grossly inadequate. When I got my full medical records - including psych - and those records were evaluated by a higher level of care, there were major red flags that came up. Some things just didn't make sense. Why wasn't my thyroid and A1C being tested if I was on certain medications? Why wasn't my PCP referring me out to specialized care? I chose to go out of network to a different city to a better system of care. The providers I have now are much better educated than the previous ones.

Omg, this really hit home. I was rarely sick, so I didn’t have much interaction with doctors. When I got cancer 2 years ago, I was shocked at the lack of “care” in my care team. I am one of those people who won’t open my mouth or stand up for myself. I also have panic attacks around doctors so that doesn’t help either but I can’t help it. I met my oncologist and radiation doctor and thought I’d be taken care of…I was not. I was in horrible pain from my large tumor, and the first attempt at my surgery failed because the oncologist didn’t realize how much it had spread. I needed chemo and radiation before they could try again. I was never told about any effects, whether short term or long term. I told them about my pain from the beginning-and it was daily pain where you’re shaky and nauseous and can’t think straight. I wasn’t given anything to help, and the treatments just added to the pain. I was honest about my mental struggle…again nothing. I was hemorrhaging but they thought I was over exaggerating until I went to my family doctor and my hemoglobin was 5 and he sent me to the ER for a transfusion. Twice I had infections that they blew of my symptoms when I told them. They made me think my symptoms were normal side effects of treatments and I didn’t know what was normal or not anymore. Again, it was my family doctor who diagnosed the infections. I realized my cancer doctors were there to order the treatments and do the surgery, and that’s where their care ended. However, by keeping me weak, I had nothing in me to fight effects. 2 years later, I have very little quality of life. I have developed severe PTSD where I relive everything all day long, every day like a movie playing in my mind. The day I was discharged from the hospital after surgery is the last time I saw any of them. I never went back for any follow ups. They did so much damage to me mentally and physically. I joined a Facebook support group just for my type of cancer and there are 7000 members. So many of them had doctors like mine and patients are suffering. On a positive note though, all the nurses and radiation techs, and anesthesiologists, and techs who do imaging tests, are all wonderful and caring and comforting. And you are amazing! 🙂

Before I share my personal experience; have you tried EMDR therapy? It can help people with PTSD process trauma so it stops invading their daily lives. ❤ We had a similar experience when my late husband was diagnosed with cancer. The doctors straight-up lied about whether they could tell if his cancer had spread or not; like some kind of conspiracy; performed incapacitating, useless procedures, and in the end, when he was dying in 10/10 pain, still wouldn’t prescribe narcotic pain meds. The nurses, however; in the hospitals, those who visited him at home, the hospice workers; were almost all wonderful! The only exception was one who didn’t check his fresh surgical wounds or show me how to care for his new feeding tube, resulting in a serious infection. All I can say is you basically have to be your own doctor these days, and you may not be supported in getting proper care even if you know exactly what that should be! 🤦‍♀️

You totally hit home with the chronic pain. I have so much going on, Fibromyalgia, IBS, probable chronic fatigue, migraines, lymphocytic colitis, plus and then add the mental health issues, PTSD (childhood onset), dissociative amnesia, depression, panic, and this list goes on. Cymbalta and Celebrex are my pain meds and PTSD meds with Topamax, Aimovig and Sumatriptan for migraines. I’ve given up going anywhere for pain relief even if my pain level is climbing up towards 9 or 10 or more. I’m allergic to non-synthetic opiates like morphine. And I can’t get any real pain relief anymore. I’m treated like an addict seeking a hit. So I just stay home, soak in the tub, then crawl under my weighted blanket with my service dog next to me and cry.

I think...the best thing you can do is just study yourself, read, read and listen to podcasts to regaining health as changing lifestyle and see what makes you sick. Changing diet. There is a very dark cloud of corruption over medicine. I have had severe R sided back and groin pain for 5 years. First diagnosed as piriformis syndrome, than sacroilletis. Injections and PT didn't help over 2 and 1/2 yrs. The doctors jumped to recommend a Sacro-Illiac Fusion -- a horrible surgery and 2yr recovery and that often results in new pain that is chronic. Then a neuromodulator implant! I saw new doctors who asked me, "What did they think about this L5 disc? What did they think about this hip arthritis and labral tear? ". I was told by the previous doctors " It does not look that bad on the x-ray". Talk about gaslighting! And I sadly believe, corruption. There was a conflict of interest and primary gain for the surgeons to do a massive surgery to implant pricy prosthetics and devices IN YOU BODY. L5 injections and hip joint injections have finally achieved some relief for me. I could have been completely debilitated by now and turned into a permanent severely ill patient. Almost 5 yrs of my life wasted, in pain, as it is.

As someone who is on the autism spectrum, it's difficult to know how you are feeling or how to express it to the doctor, especially when it's hard to even speak. Just getting to the appointment is upsetting and nerve wracking. I never sleep the night before an appointment. If I feel like this, I can only imagine how many more do. I literally cannot speak and it's awful just trying to act normal and make eye contact when you'd rather crawl under a rug. I feel rushed at the doctor so I just deal with things that I am already getting treatment for. I wish I could just hand the doctor a note and not even have to speak. I feel bad for the old people or people like me that maybe need a more sensitive doctor that can pick up on things and try to make it easier for their patients. I only respond well to kindness, as I'm sure most people do.

What does a patient do when they are completely gaslit and abandoned? I’ve worked in the medical field for 30 years, 16 of those in neurosurgery, and I’ve been through 14 necessary brain surgeries. I could literally be the poster child for this Live because of all the medical gaslighting and PTSD I’ve been thru. My last brain surgery was to remove a mass in my brain, and then I was fired from my job while in the ICU two days after my surgery. I deeply regret giving my life to the medical field now, and regret having the mass removed. I went into medicine to help people, and I’m deeply saddened the care from health care is gone.

I looked at my neurologist this week and said, "Sensitive? That's not a very scientific explanation for pain from hypoxyapetite crystals on my superior rotator cuff". Then the doctor refused to explain what a Martin-Gruber anastomosis was, which I have in my arms. They ASSUME I don't understand, so they ignore my questions. Finally able to be seen buy a pain management specialist, only to find that I have degenerative joint disease, and degenerative bone disease in my entire spine, and feet. I could have gotten a relief 20 years ago, if someone had taken me seriously. Thank you so much for your videos! You give so many of us hope

Thank you for talking about this subject. I know it's not just a battle my husband and I have been fighting. It's a battle soooooo many have been having My husband was victimized when he was put on the vent to save his life from the Delta variant of Covid. He was put on the vent against his will, I was lied to so I could make the choice for him, and when they pulled him off of it 7 days later he was made to smell his own feces, he was starved for days and days and he was talked to like an abusive parent would speak to their unwanted child. There are even notes from a doctore on his chart begging them to put him on a feeding tube because days and days later they still had given him nothing. Now he has nerve damage and subsequent pain due to impropper proning and damage in the top of his lungs from the vent being forced. He remembers through the sedation the multiple tries to vent him before they finally was successful. Of cours, I had Covid too and even if I didn't I wouldn't have been able to be there. They wouldn't have allowed it. Another time I took my husband to the ER for shortness of breath when he had the flu. He hadn't been diagnosed with it but our son and I had and after his issues with covid and the vent, we decided he needed to be at the hospital. When I got there, they took him to answer screening questions and then basically tried to kidnap him because they asked if he had any thoughts of suicide and he said he wish he'd died when they put him on the vent but he's there for care so he doesn't. Instead of understanding of asking followup questions, they freaked out, threatened to sedate him and keep him there. They wouldn't even let him leave. When they finally let me back to be with him, he was out of breath and trying to leave. I tried to find him a chair so he could sit and catch his breath but they wouldn't allow me, they wouldn't allow him to leave. I had a nurse screaming in my face they whole time, they called the police and at that point ushered us into a small "holding cell" for a lack of better words. I had to calm my husband, the cop, and the smart assed snarky doctor down. All of that happened between August 2021 to November 2022 and since then we both have very little trust in the medical personnel in our area. We're in North Western KY/ Southern IN area

An excellent presentation of critically important truth. Recently, being sent to the ER desperately needing electrolytes and other help, I never saw a physician. I called the Chair of Emergency Medicine (whom I knew) with the Trauma Level I hospital from where I had retired. That was only one of several substandard experiences. When, during tine out, I corrected the nurse who had made many errors in my allergies, and immediately, I was sedated!

After I was released and home again I continued to feel fearful that the infection would return and that I would go through the same experience

I had a broken tooth for a week before a Dr/Dentist was able to extract it. Asking for a stronger pain med than what's available over the counter because those weren't working , I was met with resistance and a feeling that the GP Dentist and the dental surgeon thought I was a opioid seeker. I know to some this is a minor inconvenience but it seems like the Dr's now a days take pride in being ultra conservative in their approach to pain relief much to the non drug seeking ,for nefarious reasons, "normal" patients suffering.

Most of that is due to government interference. The amount of paperwork a doctor has to do to justify giving you a few days worth of hydrocodone is absolutely ridiculous! Their licenses can even be at risk if the government feels they were a little loose with their prescriptions, without the government knowing the slightest thing about the patient whatsoever.

Absolutely. It took them 2 weeks to see me. When I called,in tears, I was told “I am sorry you are experiencing discomfort. You can take Tylenol or Motrin until your appointment.” I was way past discomfort and even begged my husband to grab his pliers and pull it.” I also had a hysterectomy. Never saw the doctor at all, not before or after. It was not explained how she was going to do this ie vaginally, laparoscopic and I was sent home with 10 Tylenol 3’s. Worst pain ever. Their response, sorry that is all we are allowed to give. The list goes on and on. I worked in the medical field for 14 years and have never seen such blatant disregard for patient care. As a last ditch effort I went to the ER for possible heart attack/angina. I was given an EKG and blood draw. 5 hours later after suffering intense pain, I walked out. I have completely given up on the medical field. I am 58 and have lived a pretty good life. Whatever happens, happens.

The 2nd day of my hospital stay they were already trying to get me to say I was ready to go home. I felt so much like a burden to them. 6 days later, I was sent home. My left side was killing me and Noone seemed to want to address it during my hospital stay. Currently at home and in so much pain. I'm afraid of going to the ER because of the treatment I received the last time( 1 month ago). I do have an appt at the end of this month with Dr. . Hope has been hard, and I'm really lost. It was accidentally revealed to me that some random nurse in the ER who randomly notated a diagnoses of: facticious syndrome. WTH?! I spiraled mentally bc of it. I've been fighting hard to get better, and when anyone, henceforth, sees this in my charts, NO ONE will believe anything I say! I learned about the syndrome. Not only is it so not me, but the diagnostic procedures were not used. They won't let me know the nurse so I can speak to her, ask her "why?" I really am trying to be open. I do understand the mind-body connection for. But not facticious syndrome at all! My chart is ammended, but I'm still worried and angry about the ease of it getting into my charts. The ammendment doesn't make it disappear? I want it gone. So many of my providers admit that I'm a complicated case. I hate it, but they're not wrong. Anyway, I've been slipping through them cracks for years wo anyone advocating for me at the level that I need. What do I do? I'm so exhausted and hopeless and I feel like my providers don't really want to help me find good solutions... for years and years. I'm sure it's common, but I'm running out of resilience and strength. I know I wrote a book here. It's rly tough for me to becsuccint aboutbmyself. I'm glad I ran across your video, tho. How can a person desperate in pain, make a good decision with good judgement about the surgery??? It is almost blackmailing the patient who is vulnerable and beaten down by pain. One was at U hosp in Denver where I was told I had stage 4 cancer (untrue), other was a private Dermatology practice in Pueblo. Both were extreme and radical procedures, and when I went to other doctors for help afterwards I was told they were "butchers", "shouldn't be in practice", and that they were "cocaine users". I couldn't find an atty to help w/out $85K upfront. Both doKtors are still in practice butchering people and protected by OUR insurance companies, medical industry, and attorneys.

I spent nearly two years in and out of the hospital for at least a year of total time (I’m under counting), and the number of medical errors, wrong medications given, and nurses crying from overwhelming stress… There was severe over crowding, mixing of severely ill dementia patients being placed in beds in units not setup to look after them… I even started to hallucinate because the constant bed alarms of dementia patients were going off 24/7 over the loudspeakers even at night… Oh and they ended up causing a dementia patient to lose consciousness, need shocked with a defibrillator and have paramedics rushed into the unit to stabilize them and take them down to the ER… All of this was because they gave an unruly frail female dementia patient wayyyy too much antipsychotic medication… It was brutal witnessing how poorly those who were unable to advocate for themselves were treated, and I will never ever ever leave a loved one on their own in a hospital!!!! I was awake enough after my major surgery to advocate for myself and yet still I had a nurse push 5 times the amount of morphine than I was supposed to have, all because the nurse mixed up my IV morphine for my epidural, they were supposed to just push more of the epidural because that was put in improperly and only was freezing one side of my body… Ugh… If it wasn’t for my old family doctor who was also a hospitalist at the hospital I was at. Well after my last procedure a few days ago I had two ballooning’s of my duodenal stenosis, as well as my gastrojejunostomy stenosis stretched by ballooning, and had a fun surprise, my biliary fistula is back… I had just had stents for a previous biliary fistula removed less than a year ago… 🤦‍♂️ Life is unbearable, and we have tried almost everything, plus I throw up multiple times a day, unable to keep food down, to the point I have to go in repeatedly every year to get my electrolytes back in balance as my potassium especially loves to crash to the point of my muscles locking up and my heart beating strangely…. This is all happening along with my sodium and calcium levels often crashing alongside the potassium, all due to vomiting… I have a rare case of extremely severe eosinophilic gastrointestinal enteritis, gastritis, and esophageal… It causes scaring of my sphincters in my duodenum and even my new gastrojujunostomy’s gastric outlet… Along with bleeding ulcers and small tears from vomiting so severely… I’m getting severe pancreatic pain again, and life is a living hell… I’m so weak I can barely force myself to go on my daily walk around the block… The pain can be excruciating, and the sweating from the waves of nausea is extremely unpleasant and embarrassing… Dealing with such a complicated medical situation you run into some of the most obnoxious, hurtful, and even lying doctors in my time, but also some of the best and most compassionate doctors… I think the problem is once you have gotten as bad as I am, I can look insane with pain, as I try and avoid going to the hospital as much as possible, as the emergency room is never fun because even with all my medical documentation, most doctors don’t care to take the time to read even the most basic of medical history right in front of their faces… One doctor was intentionally trying to call me crazy, and that I was exaggerating my pain, and my other symptoms… All it took from me was to look him in his eyes and then immediately Projectile vomiting blood all over his stupid white coat! Thats sure all it took to take that stupid little entitled grin off his face a when a stomach full of blood and my passed out body, now bleeding from a cut in my forehead as I hit the ground hard apparently… It’s just so sad that it takes something that severe to get these horrible medical professionals to actually be professional…. So many of these bad doctors should’ve quit after finding out they have zero compassion for patients while in med school…. I don’t remember much after hearing exactly what happened after I vomited blood all over him, and passed out… Why does it take such insane situations for some doctors to stop assuming they know what’s wrong before you even tell them anything… So many doctors who simply don’t listen, and have shut off their compassion, ability to listen, and would rather make assumptions based on their lazy stereotyping… My chronic illness is already getting really bad again and I have lost 8 pounds in two weeks, and am down to 121 pounds and I’m a male that’s almost six feet…

I was told this in 2019. My oxygen went to 70 in the surgery. No amount of oxygen would raise it. They said my veins collapsed and had to call in a specialist to put IV back in. It was suppose to be a quick surgery and back home same day. I was there in the hospital for 3 days over Easter holiday. Very few people in the hospital and even less nurses. I was mostly alone for 3 days. Afterwards, never told why. Did I die on the table? Did they revive me? I think very seriously something very bad happened. Worst part? It was preventable and done on purpose.

The second is to not be accusatory in the least-be very respectful, no matter what. Encouraging a “what can WE do?” team attitude, it works for most Drs. The worst gaslighting I receive is through my pain mgmt Dr. I asked when my last MRI was. He said 2 years. I told him my pain was worse than 2 years ago and asked for a repeat MRI. He said he’d repeat it if it would make me feel better. I said thank you. When we met for the MRI results it turned out that ligaments in my hip were shredding / tearing in a severe way. Including a bursa. He didn’t say he was sorry for discouraging me to have an ultrasound but he did admit there was nothing he could do for me but send me back to the surgeon who referred me for impingement I see him this week. I feel very empowered.

Went to the the ER for 1 serious thing but also requested an X-ray as I had excruciating pain in my back. Yeah we'll get ya x-rayed. I was admitted and kept getting blown off on the X-ray for a week. All they wanted to do was Tylenol. Which is crap on all my pain. Anyway it wasn't just the Drs it was the nurses and cnas. I had to threaten to call the cops n sue them before I was released. Went to the orthopedic Dr. He x-rayed. Turned out my back was broken in 2 different places. Shout out tho to the One CNA that did give a damn and try to help me

I am happy to see something like this in a doctor talking about this especially for chronic pain patients. I have multiple issues going on starting off with limes disease in 2002, and then being in black mold which compromise. My immune system brought out my lime, and a dormant herpes zoster, I’ve been to the ER 19 times. I had a heart attack with my blood pressure 184/102 not able to move my body to have a doctor stick a pain in the bottom of my feet to see if he would get a reaction from me, and when they did hit all the people left, I’m in the records of being crazy when I try to speak up for myself now I don’t go to the emergency room anymore and doctors between doctors. They do communicate with each other because I couldn’t get an infectious disease doctors to see me in my local area I had to go to Tampa, which is 45 minutes from my house, I’m not crazy I’m sick. I’m getting your brain in a fix your brain and fix your whole body every part of you.

I had a fabulous anesthesiologist / pain mgmt doc for over 12 years. I have spinal injuries (with other comorbidities) and was at a daily MME=345. Had to find a new doctor this year when mine had to move for family. Currently at MME=180, but now have lymphoma & bone cancer (intermediate stage). Have been trying to impress upon him I am not getting pain relief. Have burned the hell out of my stomach on ibuprofen & Roboxin. Trying to find a new doctor, but until then HELP! I feel that if a pain management doc is an anesthesiologist as well, they are more knowledgeable and more reasonable.

As a chronic pain sufferer (spinal stenosis, unhappy bladder, lupus…) I had been feeling rough. I didn’t want to be treated like I had before, so I lived with shortness of breath, chest pain, and dizziness for about 7 weeks. Finally someone forced me to go to the hospital, they too thought I was going to be dismissed (I was by all but one doctor). I had so many pulmonary emboli that the radiologist couldn’t count. I had bilateral pulmonary artery blockages. They didn’t mention the “wee MI” I had on the left side of my heart, nor the heart failure in the right side (but I am seeing a thrombosis doctor in a month). I am a good self (and other) advocate, but because I take pain meds, and still work full time, I am not VALUED. I was accompanied by a lawyer and a doctor on this trip to the hospital - even then we all thought I was going to be sent home with a virus.

I would like to say that anyone thinking about moving to Florida, research the area for Healthcare/Hospitals because with the influx of Massive amount of people moving here, our level of care and good doctors has flatlined. It’s sad to those of us that have lived here for awhile, the care is hit or miss 🙏🏼🤨🌚

June 2023 I experienced the worst pain I ever had I couldn't sit took 5 ambulances in 10 days to ER. Yes I have chronic pain. This was different. I could barely move. I was told to SIT in waiting room 12 plus hours of course I couldnt. Left and tried agsin a surgeon said the pain was anxiety pain. 10 days later I couldn't lift my chest off bed. Called 911 bleeding. I was septic dx with a rectal abcess. Operated on and a year later I am finally recovered. Another prime example of this is the Lisa Edward's case who went to 2 hospitals with stroke symtoms and was discharged finally having the police called and 1 hour tirade of multiple police officers unable to move her failing body into the police van. She was left to urinate in the Gutter with officer standing around cracking jokes in front of a hospital. They mustered up the strength to slide her into back seat of a cruiser laying on her back her breathing already compromised succumbed to the stroke. Shameful

I and many of my medical staff colleagues of color have been treated like pain seekers. I wrote to the Dept. Chief about my experience with the resident. The Chief didn’t believe me at all and defended the resident. Lesson learned is to contact the Hospital Chief Medical Officer and request a meeting if necessary.

Up until several years, I don’t trust the medical system but have to stick with them to keep me alive as a post transplant patient and complex history. However, to help to fix the problem regarding this video is to give them your opinions and ideas so the medical industry can incorporate if they’re willing to listen. This is what I’ve been doing and is working! 😊❤

The surgeon who removed my gall bladder gave me Tramadol even though I insisted that I not receive any opioids. He waved away my concerns with the comment that I wasn't going to receive a "narcotic." I ended up trying to commit suicide because Tramadol causes Serotonin Syndrome. If he had bothered to listen to me in the first place, I would not have ended up in the psych ward because of his mistake. I literally had no control over my behavior because of what the Tramadol was doing to my brain.

I am so fortunate to have a membership and can access my physician anytime. I would never abuse this, but I have her personal phone number. The membership fee is totally worth every penny. It is a shame that the good ones have had to resort to not dealing with insurance companies.

Amazing video. 🙏 for all points mentioned. Can you speak to a few other points in upcoming videos? My non-US based pain specialist denies MCS exists, or that preservatives in medication can exacerbate it. I experience less skin issues, eye & joint swelling if I avoid preservatives. Could you please speak to the issue of MCS? Is MCS an extension PTSD? Is there any research re: a relationship to history of RSD and developing MCS? Is RSD or CRPS an extension of chronic PTSD? I understand both subsets of people w/ a history of childhood abuse and/or narcissistic caregivers are prone to PTSD (later in life.) Can you speak to any relationship between PTSD, MCS, RSD, or CRPS? Can chronic swelling to the neck or anterior scalene from history of frozen shoulder also cause compression to the vagal nerve and other symptoms that relate to PTSD or RSD? I appreciate your consideration to these questions.

I have been getting my Dental Care at a nearby Dental College for the past few years. The care is provided by 4th year students (under Faculty Supervision of course) and always been happy with the care. Right from the beginning (during cooooviiiid 🙄) I communicated to Faculty and my then Student, about my Panic disorder (Merinthrophobia) and I was immediately exempted from wearing a mask in the clinic!! Even security know who I was and never harassed me. And my most recent student actually gave me her personal cell number to contact her if I had any problems!! I wish all practitioners had that kind of dedication!!

Ya i went to the ER because i pulled something in my lower back and had severe pain. All i wanted to know what i did or didnt do to cause the pain that was like a 25 on a pain scale. The drs there acted like i was there for drugs. In whick im already on pain meds but they were real gerks to me and my husband. Something has to change or there will be a lot of so called drs and nurses that will lose there job. Thats for sure. Thank you for bringing this info forward.

When I had surgery two years ago the anesthesia nurse yelled at me for having a panic attack when I had let her know that I have PTSD. I shouldn’t have been treated so badly. My cardiac anesthesiologist finally called my surgeon to come help me and reassure me. My surgeon had a wonderful nurse along with him until I was sedated for a nerve block procedure before surgery.

I have chronic osteoarthritis pain. I have plenty of imagery to substantiate this and my OA is systemic in all my major joints (including my neck) and has been described as severe by docs that have read my radiology. It's been entirely untreated for over 8 months now. I recently had an ER visit because of my 1st UTI (Male-68). I didn't even mention my OA even though I was in wheelchair as I know, without a doubt in my mind, that NO ONE will try and treat it in any form whatsoever and will presume I'm looking for pain meds for recreational purposes. I have no life and haven't had one in over 5 years as my OA was undertreated prior to having NO treatment and was abandoned by my PCP after 10 years. Which may well turn out to be a good thing but I've zero optimism left and have less than zero confidence in healthcare in the U.S. This from someone who knows a little about healthcare. Currently, I'm simply waiting for the inevitable in a significant amount of, let's call it, discomfort. My heart goes out to all that can relate. There are MANY of us.

I have gone to the ER with excruciating pain. I mean level 10 in my lower back. and buttocks. I was in tears from the pain and they refused to give me anything for relief even though they were sending me to x-ray for a CT of that area of my body. I insisted I could not move to get the CT scan. They reluctantly gave me a mild sedative so I would go. My sister was with me, but I was sent home with the same excruciating level 10 pain I arrived with. They did put me in a wheelchair with a script for 800mg of Motrin and rolled me out to my sister's waiting car. I cried all the way home! They made me feel like I just wanted drugs and was wasting their precious time.

Same recently happened to me. I had to have a lung biopsy for deep breast cancer in my chest wall. They made an incision on my throat, pulled forward on my ribs and took multiple samples of my lymph nodes. When I asked about pain meds the nurse said go home and take Tylenol. I felt like a horse had kicked me in the rib cage. When I had my mastectomy later I made the doctor swear on his life that I would get pain medication because I feel like they think everyone’s a drug seeker and just let you suffer even after serious surgeries. It’s inexcusable!!
