Exactly! I collect a few things but I keep them and they’re like decorative items basically. “Collecting” consumables means you use them up more quickly and throw all that plastic in the bin on a regular basis
This is great and I agree. I learned this after working at LUSH in 2016 and getting a little too obsessed with their collections, which ended up only lasting a few weeks at a time. It was fun for a while, but simply unsustainable. You don't need a hundred products in your bathroom at once. You won't even be able to appreciate them. It's just too excessive.
same, i love body washes and all that stuff, but i can only have like 1 or 2 at the same time, and if i want another one or try a new brand i wait until im done with it
Can we talk about how a lot of these overconsumption TikTok accounts are substituting buying things for a talent. A lot of them aren’t necessarily entertaining, innovative, or interesting. They’re just buying a bunch of things over and over. Edit: I’ll concede the custom scents do provide a sort of service but also promote overconsumption
Yes, I would expand that to say they're also substituting it for a hobby or skill (which can always be cultivated and shared). I also think that many of the people who spend a lot of time watching shopping content and are easily influenced to buy things may be doing so because they lack anything more interesting, engaging, and rewarding in their lives. My advice would be to look for something better to focus your energy on.
That's so true! It's always easier to just buy something than learning a new language or cultivating a hobby, because that could be hard and sometimes frustrating (I paint, draw, criss stitch and sculpt - I sucked at all of the at the start lol) and especially at the beginning you will suck at it because you're a beginner. I wonder if consumption over hobbies and interests is going to get worse or better 🤨
Genuinely have thought more than a few time that in the 80s/90s these people would be on QVC and HSN 24/7. Buying any and everything just because they can.
I’ll take my single scrub and body wash over a whole line up in my tub. That space is for ME to cleanse, unwind, and meditate. That’s part of self care, too. Living within your means is also a powerful gesture of self care. Also… How do you even clean when it looks like a midtown Target in there?
presumably she has to clean under each item one at a time or has to take everything out and then put it all back. this is the same thing i wonder about when i see ig reels of maximalist girlies with all their tiny figures and books, like the dusting must be terrible
Meanwhile I only use castille soap, solid. It smells so nice and it is safe for the environment. So many people ruin aquatic life and safety with their disgusting products like house perfumes, mosquito repellant, deodorants.
@@helenarichard I miss the products from the 80s that were mineral based, old fashioned and actually worked. So much stuff now tries to sell three drops of pineapple juice in a gallon of vinegar as a shower cleaner for forty bucks. It's a crime. The basics are safe and insanely cheap.
These creators also encourage these brands like Tree Hut to make tons of limited edition scents as they know these creators will encourage followers to buy them.
As someone with OCD who has struggled with excessive showering, content like this is genuinely haunting. I used to unwillingly spend 2-3 hours in the shower everyday, this damaged my body and senses so bad! I could never believe that someone would genuinely want to do this. Posting this type of content and other content like the "clean girl" stuff is so harmful to people because it gives the believe that we need to be doing more in the shower and to be doing more to be clean. People are already scared enough, stop trying to scare them more!
We elder millennials have a word for this: "humblebragging". She's pretending it's so craaaazy for her to spend so much on body care in order to brag about her ability to afford all of that. Plus they're all Unilever and Proctor and Gamble products 🤮
@@CampingforCool41 they are known for several controversies. Unilever had been problematic of skin whiteners in asia. They also had an ad for washing a black guy in a washing machine then came out as a fair skinned chinese guy. They are involved with the palestine-israel conflict along with the russia-ukraine conflict. They are also known to gobble up and coming competition such as dollar shave club and was invoved in pepper spraying their own staff. (p&G had its fair share too.. most comical one is the Kellogg's one which supposedly it inhibits/prevents masturbation cause it was bad/not good sor spirit)
Ikr. My hate for big pharma helped me to become frugal. I never buy medication. I never use pills. I never buy body care. I don't buy 95% of the supermarket. It is all horrible.
@@CampingforCool41 All of the above, plus they're one of the worst companies in terms of excessive and unnecessary animal testing, even though they constantly buy brands that are supposedly "cruelty-free", Native being the most recent one. It's a personal choice to purchase them or not (some people may not have access to alternatives where they live), but I personally avoid them and all their subsidiaries.
Having so much stuff in your shower is excessive and unnecessary. Seeing so many products in a shower would make me anxious and overwhelmed and I would never be able to relax A lot of these TikTok accounts don't really have a talent for something which is why they rely on hauls, declutter videos or simply rage bait to get the algorithm on their side
Same, I have soap, shampoo and conditioner, shave oil face wash, and scrub, and that feels like a lot to me. But I use all of it and don’t have anything I don’t use/need in there
It is so powerful to hear: you don't need one of each variety; you don't need more; what you have is okay; this culture of overconsumption isn't healthy. Thank you for being a voice for these concepts!
@@KFrost-fx7dtokay? but obviously the message in all those videos is encouraging buying each, and there's rarely if ever a counterpoint saying hey this is excessive and not normal
@@orion.6 Usually it has to do with over exposure and irritation. Allergies can also just develop randomly but this kind of thing can make it happen faster.
The holiday cinnamon scent gives me migraines. It started a few years ago. When i was younger I had those cinnamon pinecones all over the house. Now, I have to be super careful buying holiday scents to make sure there's no cinnamon
My mom became allergic to fragrance from using perfume every day in her 20ies! She's still struggling with it today. (Even though it's a lot better now)
Same!! I only use one once a year if that. One is enough it's for my spa nights, I only ever use scrubs for shaving day or a bubble bath. Never for every day use! Just was in shock watching this 😂
I follow a project pan creator who probably started with a shower stock as large as this. Her content is about learning to stop collecting, use up what she has and get her numbers under control. You don’t have to promote over consumption even if you own this amount of stuff. And the project pan creator has also filmed hauls using up store credit card points but donated it all to a women’s shelter in her area that she called ahead of her shopping spree and asked what they needed.
As I lifelong Californian, which has been in a drought for all the decades I’ve been alive, I can’t see unnecessary water coming out of a spout without feeling anxious 😮
@@CrisOnTheInternet I know that, I guess I misread. I was asking you to explain where the connection was between the video and nursing scrubs, bit you've already said it
@@Beautiful_Soul89 do you also check the menu in advance? For me I was actually wondering for so long why I always was so chilled why travelling and now I’m realising - less stuff, less choice - less anxiety. So now I try to implement that at home too 💕
@@aw6356 Most of the time I do if the outing is planned in advance. I agree with you on the traveling part, it tends to be less stressful for me too. One of the things that helps me more now is to go to restaurants that have a theme/specific type of food such as Italian, seafood, Mexican, etc. And like you mentioned, it’s similar to how I dine out when traveling. That makes it easier to choose something. The only time I’m not bothered by too many options is at a buffet because I’ll just taste a little of everything, but thats pretty rare.
Its not just sugar scrubs for "influencers". They also use dry btushes, exfoliating gloves, scrub nets, etc. If you used that all of that crap on your car, guess what would happen to the paint job? Why would you treat your body skin that way and have the nerve to call it pampering? I think the danger is younger people will see this and think that is what it takes to feel "clean and soft".
not to that extent. a very light exfoliation with a washcloth every day is ok, but you shouldn’t be using those sugar scrubs every day. they’re very abrasive, you should really only use them twice a week at the most
As someone already stated, that bathroom is a nightmare to clean. 😬😳 Routine for me... soap, scrub with wash cloth, mask, brightening cleanser and finalize with gel moisturizer in arnica or Freeman cream. Those scrubs are a waste of money when you realize you can us a reusable wash cloth that does the same thing or even better. I use to be a scrub lady until the wash cloth came around. $10 more in my pockets and one less plastic jar in the trash bin with my name. Finding alternatives is an awesome way to save money, plus you don't worry about allergies, because it is one less product.
I only do shampoo and don't shower every day. I have way too sensitive and dry skin for all that soap and fragrance. Plus I'm sensitive to scents. I prefer argan oil over all that stuff and my skill doesn't loose its flora because of all the soaps all the time.
This reminds me of Extreme Couponing and the people who are addicted to shopping and having extreme stockpiles! The overconsumption this person has could be put to better use and donate to their local homeless shelter or DV shelter
There are people who coupon and actually use all of the things the guy because they have large families and such. However, the latter episodes of the show extreme couponing focus on individuals who do shopping trips to donate to shelters. They stopped focusing on people who just have stockpiles in their garage.
Man, wouldn't she run out of hot water😂😂😂 if I'm in my shower for more than 25 mins, I feel the water start to get colder! 20 mins max!!!!! (Longer if you're feeling depressed, like me)
how does she keep this clean? Like I know that if I don't put my shampoo back in a different spot every day it gets moldy underneath how does that not happen
Every time you call the different scents “different flavours” it makes me imagine that that’s how she’s getting through so many body scrubs; just snacking! 😋
I'm not a mental health professional and I'm not diagnosing anyone. But...as an observation of human behavior, if I were to walk into a bathroom and see that I would think to myself: this might be what OCD or compulsive shopping or shopping addiction looks like!
this isn't OCD, OCD is not about organizing things, there is a big misinfomation & misconception about that. but yeah, clearly shopping addiction/compulsion.
@@l.olivia865 Fair enough. I'm certainly no expert on the topic. I was just thinking from the lens of the apparent compulsion or "need" to acquire and stockpile those items.
OCD is a spectrum, but as someone who is actually diagnosed with OCD, I can assure you, this is not it. It's just being lavish and wasteful, and practicing overconsunsumption
As someone who actually has OCD... no. If she used them in a specific order or had to organize them in a specific way, count how many she had, and/or double-check multiple times they were all there, then I'd say maybe. Shopping addiction and compulsive shopping are far more likely. If you're not a mental health professional then please don't act like it :)
@@DarkerDominionshere it’s absolutely not ritualistic behavior. Ritualistic behavior would look like the person here having a specific way of showering, like wash left arm 2 times first beginning with pinky finger, then right arm 2 times in the same way, counting or repetition thinking, etc… there’s a lot of way of having ocd as ritualistic behavior while showering. OCD is debilitating and overwhelming, and source of suffering for the person. Having a fixation on a scrub selling brand or feeling like you need all of them is, in itself, not what OCD is. Sure, OCD can be considered as a spectrum, but we are talking more of a “quite manageable but still” to “can leave house or do anything”, and different types of OCD involved (contamination, thoughts, obsessions, rituals, etc..). So again, nothing shown in this videos are related in any close to OCD, and this is not what ritualistic behavior issue are. Thank you.
The wall of Dove bar soaps in the background is there because she opens a new one every shower routine, for aesthetic purposes- she added in one of her videos.
Expires?? Bar soap doesn't expire. Sorry lol... All you gotta do is scrape off the nasty bits if you care that much. It's so crazy how the advent of all these liquid products that 100% can go off (but are fine until they actually do go off or get super contaminated.) have made people forget about the actually sustainable choices for your personal bathroom. @@KMABTCH
This is probably one of your best videos so far because everything you mentioned HAD to be said and addressed. To be transparent, I was watching a ton of these self care product videos to the point where I was ADDICTED to both watching them and spending my money on the products they use to have the same kind of collection that the creator had. I fell for the marketing all the time by how they make the products look in the videos (not even making the connection of comparing it to an actual advertisement) now here I am, 3 years later with this HUGE COLLECTION of shower products from when when I went on that spending phase and I'm still trying to use them up. If there's a product you wanna try - fair. But you don't have to OVERCONSUME AND BUY 10-20 AT ONCE BECAUSE IT WILL JUST OVERWHELM YOU. These strangers aren't there in your bathroom with you every day while you use these products - they don't care what kind of products that you use! They just want to buy because these creators are making them look good in the "advertisements"!
For a suggestion, I have a bunch of leftovers of past excess and decided to used them in foot bath or bubble bath if you have a bath. They use more than a regular shower and give you opportunity to finish up some leftovers! I did myself a bunch of bath with some "potion" hahaha 😆 I felt like a kid dropping the soap in the bath and having so many bubbles hahaha now I have a lot but only the scent I love and use.
I think it's an advertisement without the "hashtag sponsored" She likely gets sent these products, or gets a refund on money she spends. She's being paid to be a personal little commercial for these companies. Here's some "deinfluence" I use regular old castile soap. Mine has tea tree oil for my skin condition
I have extra body wash, shampoos and scrubs in my bathroom closet that I got on sale and have ready for when I run out. I have one bottle of each thing plus a razor and bar soap. The amount of stuff in that shower is insane and anxiety ridden. I can't even imagine showering with all those bottles
My mindset around influencers completely shifted when I recognized that most of them are just glorified salesmen. They get sent free PR and push products on their platforms to incentivize you to buy it exactly the way a sales team would do it. Even since I started thinking about it that way, I've very rarely wanted to buy anything an influencer talks about. They're not being genuine, they're just pushing products to make money - end of.
I remember back in 2004 when I worked on the beauty side of Victoria's Secret. The routine recommendation was a shower gel, lotion, and body mist (and then maybe a corresponding perfume). That's it. It never occurred to me (though I am 44 years old) to create a routine of 5 or 6 products to pile on that much scent. But, again, this may be an age and maturity difference.
Her bathroom feels like a store (derogatory)... the stress I felt when she put together that routine, jeez. I'd be too overwhelmed and unable to find anything with all those products, plus, what about expiration dates?
I saw the showertok thing the other day and I hate to say it but I saw my past self in it. For me it was the bath and body works products, my shower was a rainbow of plastic bottles. I just wasn’t using or enjoying them- I had SO many lotions expire on me. Same thing with the b&bw candles. B&bw is so good at feeding the FOMO. I am way happier now that I just buy what I need/use and not what I fear missing out on.
Especially overconsumption of cosmetics baffles me. You cannot possibly use all of them before they expire. Body scrubs especially which shouldn’t be used everyday anyways - you’re either going to end up using expired products or you’re going to have to throw away a lot of product and money. There’s just no reason to have more than two max at a time.
As someone who's just gotten into these products (and only wants a small realistic amount) its impossible to find a channel that talks about them without being a literal hoarder with overflowing cupboards and crates of them, storing them across multiple different rooms in their house. Its the same for fragrance youtube.
Let me offer another perspective: When I was a kid (and I still see this today) I would wonder about people who made less money than our family and flaunt more expensive or brand name items (usually clothing or shoes). But in reality, the money spent on brand name items is opportunity cost for something else. What I'm saying is while she may have spent $1k on her shower, I don't get the feeling she is "wealthy" in a traditional sense. More likely, she is spending in this way to make up for lack in another area and is likely not as "wealthy" as she wants us to believe. That's just my unlicensed, unsolicited opinion on the matter.
You're 1000000% right that she is wasteful also she needs to do that to get through the product lmao unless she has 20 other people who use that shower lol
I was thinking there's no way you can go through that much, not in a year, maybe not even in five years, especially since you're not supposed to use shower scrubs every day, since they're obviously exfoliating, and you're only supposed to exfoliate twice a week max
I will admit, when I was a kid I dreamed of stuff like this. I grew out of it as I started realizing the expense, how long it actually takes to get through a bottle of body wash, how harsh fragrance can be on the skin, etc.
omg it reminds me of when I was a teen, my friend went to america and bought 30 pocketbacs from bath and body works because she was obsessed ! we used to blindfold her and make her tell us what scent it was 🤣 and she got it right every time!
I couldn’t even fathom spending $1K for ANYTHING. Much less having such an excessive amount of any skincare and makeup or whatever else. When it comes to makeup and its accessories, I buy absolutely nothing, except for the occasional chapstick. Skincare, I buy a bottle of shampoo and bodywash. Plus, an extra one as a backup once the first one runs out, depending on the price and size. I also have a bottle of body lotion. It has lasted me for months now, and when that runs out, I will naturally buy a new one. But not until then. And that’s it, that’s all I have and need to have. Nothing more. Hayleo Hayley had this same clip in one of her overconsumption videos, and she also brings up how makeup and the like is known to expire in just a few months time. She was just as flabbergasted and upfront honest as you are. And side note, I shower for 10-20mins tops. No way anyone is taking 3hr showers or baths. Rage bait or not, every bit of this is beyond ridiculous and insane. People seriously need a reality check and a slice of humble pie
What they don't tell you is all that is tax deductable and basically free in return for a video. Then their followers go into debt while they double dip, if i understand it correctly.
I love watching your overconsumption videos exploring different branches of them. You should do a video about the overconsumption of thrifting, it’s misconceptions about it being good for the environment, and the effects it has.
This should also be counted as addiction, addiction isn't only about drugs, it can be anything, and it gets worse if she's getting payed for it. This is promoting addiction, making it seems that is okay to do this, it isn't people don't realize this
Nah, don't be THIS wasteful even if it's offline. We're all "paying" for it as our planet fills up with trash. Saying people have a right to spend their money however without critique from others is an individualistic rule that Americans made up.
"when you finally get adult money" this reminds me of like, twelve years old with their christmas money. these people are not acting like "adults" their financial maturity is that of a pre-teen.
If this was my close friend's shower and she wasn't an "influencer" doing it for money, I would be kindly asking her if she had a problem. Even as an "influencer" I dont think this is the type of work one should aspire to he contributing to the world, or we as a society should be enabling. Thank you as always for your commentary, Shawna!
I mean if you're going to waste your money might as well splurge on better products. I don't understand how or why this digital creator think this is a flex. These are all cheap drugstore stuff. Alright some of them are quite good but still I don't see how a pack of Dove soap is aspirational.
the way Shawna just has endless content for us, it makes me so exciteddddd. Becoming a comfort RU-vidr fr and that makes me happy bc this is a small community and I'm happy to support
I don't leave YT comments often, but I just wanted to say how much I've been enjoying your content and seeing you get the recognition you deserve lately!! With that said - girl you are really pumping out the uploads, I hope you're not stressing yourself out too much! You know you best, but I just hope you're not putting yourself at any risk of burnout ❤❤
I'm consuming your videos at a rate this tiktok creator consumes body scrub. 😂😂 This reminds me of the days when Temptalia was big. Christine was also sort of alerting people whenever new stuff was released because she got it in PR. But at least whenever she posted, you already got a first impression or in depth rating of the product along with it. I'm not on tiktok and I've simplified my routines to a point where I don't feel the need to consume such content in search of recommendations anymore, but I do have to admit that I sometimes gloat at the excess when it pops up here on YT.
Your my favorite new person to watch, love your commentary on overconsumption. Could you maybe dive into how it relates to hoarding? Would love to hear your thoughts on that if you have any! Cheers ✌️🎉
I think the real bothersome thing about this is, if they can afford that much for themselves, why not just donate instead? They have so much excess and they hoard it. It's repulsive.
Yes, it’s her money. And she can definitely do whatever she wants with her life, as long as she is responsible. But that goes out all the window when she posts these daily for the world to see in the first place. Showing off. She knows exactly what she’s doing. She knows she will have defenders, as much as she will have people trying to criticize her.
Whats frustrating is how people that are disabled would benefit form making a shower more enjoyable. I know it would and does for me. But what she is doing is way too extreme.
Ive read people explain before that this content can often appeal to those who grew up with extreme poverty. Where you never had variety or excess. Growing up only having generic "all-in-one" body/hair wash from the salvation army as your ONLY option can make seeing dozens of soaps and scents appealing. However I can see the opposite being true too (this is just me assuming) that coming from poverty seeing such excess and waste infuriating and offensive Disclaimer: I am only reiterating what I've read about overconstmption, I am fortunate to not have experienced that level of poverty so I am not speaking from experience.
I confused as to how she would feel a need to "restock" certain scrubs so often. I don't see how she can use any of them up before they go bad...maybe she just has a few favorites that she uses while letting the rest of it go bad? No matter how you slice it, it makes no sense. And I do think that's her entire point, to shock people into engaging with her content so it gets promoted further.
Yes, I agree. The loyal followers want to see more and then for the rest it's shock value. This is exactly why I don't want to go comment on her account.
I’m all for making your shower more inviting and aesthetic especially if you have a harder time motivating yourself to shower, for me it’s neurodivergence- but 100% the over-consumption and unethical advertising isn’t good. And to the point of another comment I saw, you shouldn’t be exfoliating every day every shower it should be something you don’t go through that fast. I like seasonal scents of body care products but when the season’s over I save the rest for next year (as long as it keeps) and you don’t need every scent
I have gone through overconsumption phases, but it’s child play compared to that. This year, however, I’ve been on my no buy era and I think that I’m better off. It’s stressful to buy so much cause I grew up in a don’t waste anything home. So when I would realize that I couldn’t go through it all I’d get super anxious. At that point I’d give the items to my sisters who didn’t/couldn’t buy those little luxuries. I’m still going through something’s to this day, but I’m almost done and not in any hurry to over consume again.
OCD and horder mindset. People are projecting their unhealed traumas onto others. The fact that people will follow the recommendations of a total stranger on social media is crazy to me. Not all chemicals are the same💯 people react differently to certain chemicals. My facial skin looks the best when all I use is water and toner and every once in a while a very very gentle exfoliator. natural oils are important and these “influencers” never talk about the importance of learning how to work with the oils your body produces. My skin was the worst when I used these random products with ingredients I can’t figure out what the reason behind them are.
She can also write these purchases off on her taxes since they are work expenses. Don't forget she has been sponsored by these companies. She couldn't afford it if it wasn't acquired through her "job".
I appreciate your content and I like that you’re bringing attention to the situation. I wonder if you’ve also considered having a professional or somebody who has certifications to talk about how this type of overconsumption is causing other people to feel so inadequate and anxious because they can’t get up and do this. People just don’t wanna take a shower at all if it can not be a $1000 shower. It can lead to cripiling anxiety and depression.
...and I'm over here trying to figure out how to declutter my shower that I share with my husband and 2 small kiddos (okay, just to clarify and not be creepy, we share at different times). When I'm trying to relax in my shower routine, all the bottles, free floating toys, and random items make me feel stressed...like the stuff is subconsciously telling me to stop screwing around and clean the place. This influencer's shower set up would be so bad for my mental health.
her skin will revolte one day, or it is even now with dry skin or other reactions. Dermatologists do not recomment so much stuff on your skin. BUT let her…..she is NOT influenceing me, i think her shower looks terrible. Its not a quiet relaxing place, its a shop.
I dont want to really hate on a great indulgent shower since I've been into scrubs and bath bombs from Lush before, but as someone on the west coast, i cannot feel safe in a shower with too much stuff stacked up on the walls. It's just not safe during an earthquake. Those bottles and jars could really fall on you and bruise you up.
I'll admit that, being sensory seeking, having a huge variety of colorful, scented lotions and scrubs that feel nice is a tempting thought. However, at this creator's level, I think all the benefits would be outweighed by guilt- over the money I spent, the level of plastic waste, the disorganized mess that the containers would devolve into, etc.
I agree. When my husband and I moved from an apartment into a house that had a huge bathroom, complete with a soaking tub and walk-in shower, I bought a lot of bath products because I had an opportunity to experiment with and enjoy them. But the novelty wore off over time, and by the time we moved to a different house, I was completely over it. Now, I'm good with a little shower rack with a handful of products to choose from instead of an entire shelf of a linen cabinet devoted to bath/shower items. It was just too much and stopped being enjoyable.
I don't get having it all in the shower rather than using a few at a time and storing the rest in a closet. Surely it would be way more enjoyable that way.
Every piece of product has an expiration date, often within 12 months. The waste and horrid over-consumption is nauseating. So many women and children in shelters could use and enjoy those products.
Waste aside, shes DESTROYING her skins natural moisture barrier, and that really should concern her more. Even though she uses moisturizing products, all of the constant abrasion can lead to bacterial infections and rashes. Ugh
I know stepping foot into her house would be an instant migraine😅 I can never get how people can have so many different varieties or brands of the same product. Like once you find the one that works best for you you don’t stick to it? I’m currently on the hunt for a new shampoo and I’m trying a bunch of different ones but I can’t imagine buying one of every single shampoo I’ve tried and using all of them
No one needs that many of anything. I like treehut. But I buy one scent at a time. Then when I empty it, I can try a new one 🤦🏼♀️ this overconsumption wastes soooo much product. These items will expire before they use them all. Also, putting old products in new products seems very unsanitary
Maybe we should come at this from a different angle…they are getting crazier each month 😳😂 I think ppl watch those videos without knowing how to benefit and customize it for them. Perhaps, adding a section on how to partake responsibly in what they see 🤷🏾♀️ I watch to get ideas, scale it down and customize it for me. I don’t like clutter soooo, it’s easy for me to say “nope” 😂😂
What I’d like to know is… 🤫 “WHAT” IS SHE DOING TO HAVE TO TAKE THIS MANY SHOWERS/BATHS???? 🤔 And HOW DRY is her skin for taking that many showers? Where are the 20,000 lotions & oils that are gonna be needed to make it “pliable” again?? She doesn’t show that? So many questions? 😂
Because scented soaps don’t really focus on cleaning properties they focus more on the scent. So you use the unscented soap first and then apply the scented soap… which still doesn’t make sense especially if you’re going to use scented lotion/perfume afterwards
unless it's a business spa location, there is no reason why people need that much supplies for showers. you'd need maybe 4 showers a day to not waste that. or maybe a large amount people living in the house & guests. it's definitely over consumption , but her money. she is advertising ; i don't think she would own collections if not able to advertise it. at least, she's clean ?!? it's not illegal. mixed feelings about this
These shower collections would be fine if this was some sort of group home setting where a multitude of people are using this area and a multitude of people are using it.
I have a spare bottle of shampoo and conditioner because I'm like two showers away from running out. I feel like that's excessive because I buy them when I run out, but this gives me anxiety. I mean I get it if she wants to smell nice and different every day, or something, but like $1k on shower stuff??? Like that money could have been better utilized. This also seems close to hoarding, like why does she have so much. It just goes to show if you're a pretty, rich-looking, white woman than hoarding products like this isn't bad, it's cute and quirky.
i think this content often occupies the space between hoarding and organisation - two things people often gravitate to in a state of anxiety. obviously the content is exaggerated, but it still reflects real behaviours and consumption. these behaviours are likely exacerbated by advertising (propaganda). probably also somewhat born from quarantine stocking behaviours. it’s like the love child of doomsday preppers and the lipstick effect
Body scrubs are a nice to have but not a must have for me. I also don’t like the Tree Hut Scrubs because they have shea butter because it clogs my pores. I’m glad I don’t have that T app and it’s crazy how much shilling goes on the internet nowadays. Well spoken content and I’m a new subscriber.
My problem with her is her base followers are kids like Sephora kids and we all know how bad this situation is they feed on her content and encourage her to buy more and they want to be like her, I literally saw a comment on her yt short someone was saying how they’re working to buy products like her and "collect" them and she liked it! This is not what an influencer should do. People are constantly spending their money on things they can’t afford and then they complain about not having enough money to survive the next month.
This person must be preparing for the apocalypse. I guess in the midst of societal collapse one must be "clean and fresh". Seriously though, I truly hope no one takes this person as a role model or guide as to how much body care stuff a person needs in real life. I think its the equivalent of that Jackass show that used to be on TV.
