Awesome explanation brother. My fear is just like FSR 1.0 devs will prefer to use their own engine upscaler rather than this 2.0. I hope Xbox implement in on the back end for us console gamers, so we can choose how we want to play. AMD confirmed this is an in driver feature and I see no reason why we won't see it.
2.0 is heading in the right direction. Even 1.0 was impressive in terms of performance, but the quality was poor. Developers will most likely support 2.0 on PC like we are seeing with 1.0, but I’m interested to see how many developers support it on console as a lot of AAA games and game engines have their own super resolution/upscailing technique.
All I care about is the possibility of getting more games running at 120FPS and this time LOCKED! Now If 1440p is possible alongside that then great, if not I'm more than happy with 120FPS on Console. I see a difference but at this point we're splitting hairs, as long as I'm getting an unflinching Maximum framerate it's all good with me and I can't Wait for FSR 2.0.
I'm with you mate. I've said it on last week's World of Gaming. I want 120fps to become the obligatory performance mode and 60fps is the quality mode. These smart upscaling technologies are essential for that to happen
Doesn't make sense for most games, tho. 120Hz is an overkill except so very specific games, usually competitive games like Warzone. It's the only game I use 120Hz mode for. Anything else is just as good as frame generation time, not raw fps number which is a gimmick above certain level.
@@micha8469 WRONG, a higher FPS will ALWAYS result in a more responsive gaming experience. And since I'm playing a game and not watching a movie, Responsiveness and latency will ALWAYS be at the top of my priority list. Doesn't matter to me whether I'm in a CDL pro League match in COD or if I'm replaying Skyrim, I'll take maximum framerate over Graphics EVERY TIME.
This is exciting news and I can not wait to see the graphical and performance gains on current and upcoming game's. And for for people who have a Series S, this will absolutely make the Series S an incredible bang for your buck. Thank you Boxenberger and Game On!
Just bought a series S two days ago, the only thing that made me buy it was mainly for it's performance mode at a lower quality at 1080p. I definitely hope this be will improve upon on top of all games overall with the needed support of game Devs optimizing them correctly. It's definitely a little powerhouse when treated right, I would love to replay the first Dying Light and some Dead Island with 60fps but that's only available with series x as of right now 😭
@@Boxenberger fingers crossed for sure 🤞🤞 this would be a big win for all owners of the series X|S. Also great coverage in the vid, much appreciated 👍 subbed
It would be amazing if the developers added more graphic options for more games as far as turning off shadows, and textures. But Ik that’s up to Microsoft, and Sony to change it since they only care about the graphics more that performance
That's up to the individual developers. So far we only know about Deathloop retroactively adding this, but I would be surprised if there aren't more coming
the list of games that AMD has shown such as God of War, Far Cry 6, and Godfall are those FSR supported on PCs only or also on PS5? Because the developers or Sony team they do not well communicate with their consumers if the new games that has been launching since PS5 launched actually supports this upscaling technique. I am also currently playing GTA V PS5 version and to be honest I don't see any difference in terms of sharpness or image clarity between fidelity mode (running in native 4k) vs performance RT mode( running in 1440p).
Well, the developers do have to make use of this, it's not added automatically. However, I agree with you. There are more PC games that use it than console games. RE7, Rift breaker, Myst, FC6, etc are some examples. Sonys 1st party games don't use it atm... I do hope we get some more transparency here soon
So if I’m correct, we will now be able to play our games on quality mode meaning being able to push the graphics to its limits while still retaining a higher fps?
@@jashpaper8370 sure... kind of... my line is Telekom Germany "powered" - but I have to add that during the daytime this video here is loading and playing fine for me in 4k too. during the evening hours and during the night... YT (not only this vid) it hanging, stuttering, didn't load/buffering... so I think my internet is fine in general but YT is not performing due to whatever reason (high server load for instance).
My problem with tech like this, it come around a lot, they herald it as bestest ever, then it arrives and.... the graphics are always just the same on both formats, the trade offs are still always there on both. The only exception, the only thing I've heard about, then the tech delivers, has been unreal engine 5 and that's it. And I've been gaming since the late 80's.
Thankfully i get Gamepass for free so i don't really care about buying many games anymore anyway. I used to buy every new release but i found i barely played most of them. Some are still wrapped in plastic after years as far 360 games go lol
So will this only affect the series s greatly? Or will the series x running at 120fps and 4k look even better as well sorry I have zero knowledge about all this lol
No, it can work on all consoles. And it really is up to the developers to decide if they want to go for 60 or 120 FPS... Depending on what they aim for of course the image quality will be better or worse. But it definitely is a great thing for us gamers that FSR is now coming cause it'll give devs more freedom
@@Boxenberger my Lg 2.1 says 120fps when I play forza horizon and more.. along with using freesync my tv said 118-120fps at 3840x2160p .. even on Microsoft store the games say 120fps if it’s available.. there’s allot of 120fps games..
Yes, in principle it can work. Cause the devs could render at 720p and then upscale. But I think 1080p is basically the baseline everywhere so I don't think you'll see a big benefit on a 1080p display
You can't optimize a game at such high fidelity with native 4k. I'd rather play in an upscaled 4k (you can't tell the difference anyway when playing) at least 60 fps.
