I’ve noticed this at my local track and just riding in general. (Field of Dreams NJ) some of the guys don’t take care of themselves fitness wise. I bring a speed jumprope with a mat and do speed intervals they look at me like I’m crazy until I leave them behind. Love the content it’s immensely appreciated!
As a guy knocking on 40 coming back to the sport, your vids have been a great help. This one probably not one people are going to click on unfortunately, but definately one of the most important! One thing I love about your vids is that pretty much everything you say is advice of some kind, little to no rambling like other instructional vids. Really appreciate the work on the vids (I know how much time it takes) and being a good role model for the sport. Thank you!
Glad that you’re encouraging people to accomplish these things. It does matter. As a long time strength coach sport scientist in professional soccer is suggest you also watch a RU-vid video from NSCA titles activate, stimulate, warmup. A thing to add would be more activation/potentiation. You did some general movements however, you need to ramp up to be able to deal with high force at high speed. For that I do have my riders include some baseline lower body plyometrics and especially upper body plyometrics. Your upper body is going to absorb and redirect large amounts of force and that cannot be neglected. Glad you’re addressing this topic for a lot of folks
As a strength and conditioning coach I really appreciate that you take the time to make a video like this and don't fill it with random B.S. statements we commonly see from "fitness" accounts. You hit the nail on the head. I actually wrote a blog about warming up for moto/SX! Find it at motostrong.blogspot.com. I'm happy to help with anybody's questions about training!
As I semi-pro runner, I can confirm that what he is saying is accurate. We really would see you guys on the gate doing nothing and think that you are crazy! 😂 Warm up AND cool down is huge
Thanks for the tips AJ. I met you briefly at Atlanta a couple years ago when your practice bike got stolen out of your trailer. I was a fan from there on knowing you were doing moto without major support. Just subscribed👍🏻🍻
I Love your journey to work AJ beautiful views and the sun’s out the birds singing the bikes waiting ! It don’t get much better than that buddy,it’s a dirt bike life 😎👌
You earned it mate with all your hard work, training, dedication . Your a great teacher and now your giving back by shearing your knowledge with us Cheers buddy 🤜🤛
Thanks for the insight once again AJ, and to anyone new to this channel when everyone else got fast and got super good at riding they also got cocky this guy right here AJ cat and zero never got cocky he was always there to help even the beginners that everyone else would look at and laugh at. AJ took the time to get off of his bike and watch other people ride and see what was going on to them and what they needed to improve which I feel like is naturally why he started training people even before he was a trainer he naturally just wanted to help any and every Rider to enjoy the sport and love it and get better at it I'll tell you right now training with this guy is worth every penny plus more anyone and everyone who wants to get good at the sport of motocross AJ is absolutely the most patient humble trainer I've ever seen in my life great guy right here keep up the good videos AJ as usual and anyone new to this sport this is the guy you want to go to if you want to get good
just wanna say thanks Aj for the videos, especially us that doesn't live in the Usa, your videos have help me improve i just forget to have my feet straight on the pegs. well im getting older so maybe it's my memory that's failing. But thanks from Denamrk Aj
Very nice, more people should talk about proper warm up.... Thank you for the content always appreciate your Chanel. Best of luck this super cross season brother
I really don't mean to come off as a kiss ass I'm just saying most of my Motocross career memories that I had AJ was very helpful through a lot of it as a local guy who my best friend Dustin and I learned a lot from. And as someone who now has a newborn son I really want to find the right person to help me train my son to ride and enjoy the sport like his father did and watching AJ and learning all of the tips that he's teaching me even to this day helps me with a lot and is really giving me the confidence now that I'm back on a dirt bike after many years. So please don't take it as me just being a suck up or a kiss ass this is a guy who I spent a lot of time around in New England and every time I promote him it's because from the bottom of my heart I believe he's an incredible trainer and a helpful person keep it up AJ thanks man
Bruh, did you just drop kriss cross apple sauce!? I love it! Lmmfao, good video, nice info. Good true statements! Thankyou for taking the time and putting them videos together. I know it’s a lot of work
Hey mate love the videos! I would be really interested in you showing how and when you change the gears. I find it difficult listening in the videos to the engine sound. Maybe the gears in the corner of the screen with a talk through as you go? Appreciate it man, keep it up 🙏
Loving this new intro! I've been binge watching your video and I really appreciate every single one. Thinking of coming up and riding the track sometime. Thanks for the content and help AJ!
Yep, shame on me I never warm-up even though I don’t race anymore, desert and single track but this always happens as we’re leaving the staging area we say let’s take it easy the first 10-15 minutes, but in reality in the first min we’re all in race pace mode every time and half the riders get arm pump.
I'm riding just for fun. Not super interested in racing. I neglect stretching, and now it makes sense, my first few laps, I get arm pump, numb hands, get sloppy with the controls. My first few laps are essentially my stretch and warm up. After that, and a quick break, I can ride a little more consistently, longer. I'm 10 minutes from my local track. Maybe I'll warm up at home so I don't feel silly. I admit I would feel silly to do all this stretching and warming up looking like I was gonna shred, and then do what I do. Haha.
Oh one more thing that can has an available mount bracket that will screw to your truck bed, I have it with mine gas spills are a thing of the past FYI
My initial problem is getting too excited, but I do need to start warming up more as well. I feel like I get extreme arm pump right off the bat despite warming up and stretching at times.
I can relate to that. But a solid warm-up will make it so that you can spike your heart rate right off the gate then settle back into your “race pace”. Without a warm-up you can ruin yourself within the first 3 minutes of a moto
@@AjCatanzaro I'll definitely be doing it this upcoming season for Enduro and Hare scrambles! I appreciate the response back. Your videos have been awesome to learn from and if you're ever in the Spokane area I'd love to attend a class. I need to learn how to jump rather than have a "just send it bud" mentality. 😂
Good content ,ihope a ot of riders listen to this advice as well as being good for your racing it will also help to prevent injury and problems s you age ..
Wow I honestly feel dumb after watching this haha I don't hardly get arm pump anymore except for the first moto and it all makes sense now lol thanks aj for all the great tips another huge help is clutchless cornering I can get slowed down later and faster been working great
Feel like i should send you a private message about some sponsor concerns. Seems we have quite a few of the same for this coming season but i have a few questions.
@@AjCatanzaro you are the best!!! thanks . I race gncc/hare scrambles/enduros, when someone pass me I can match his speed but if I riding solo... i slow dawn to very safe pace
Hey AJ, I have a quick question I’m 16 years old and I’m gonna get back into motocross and try and start racing but I’m not sure weather to get a yz250f or a yz125 just wanting to know what your opinion is on what bike I should go for.
I think a yz125 would force you to do things the correct way and not get lazy. Might be smart to start with that, and when you get back in the swing of things you can move to 250f
@@AjCatanzaro that’s what i was thinking but the other thing is that it would be the first time riding a 2 stroke for me so I’m not sure whether it would make a huge difference or not.
So I’m a girl and I rly want to be successful in motocross but nobody thinks I can I don’t even ride a lot I beg everyday too all I do is just watch motocross and everything it’s my dream it my not be possible but it’s worth a shot I only ride like 4 times a year which is not any help to get me a better rider but I’m trying my best just to practice 4 times every year until I can get out on my own and take my own shot at motocross!! Any suggestion to get yourself ready to ride by not even using your bike because I’m in that area we’re riding is illegal? 🤘
@@AjCatanzaro I Road 125 and 250 a up until 2003 I believe and I broke my back in 2001 at kenworthys Motocross pro national park actually on the dirty dozen and I miss it so much I just want to get back into riding at 38 years old just for fun.
WOW! ... Really ?, that's an awfully expensive can AJ , I'd rather ( being a privateer ) put the $90 twards tires , or for that matter , the gas !. Would you grab one if you had to pay for it ??. IDK about this one bro , from one N.E. boy to another ...
