This could be a perfect explanation as to how we can still get another race. Unfortunately, I don't see Bungie putting in the time to actually make a new race. Especially when the story for that race is going to come to a close soon.

You've given me hope so many times with your ideas by following developer's trails, clues and (now rather mythical and in speech marks) attention to detail - only for Bungie proceeding to make something different, usually mentally downgraded, I'm no longer having any faith in anything sounding promising so I safely assume that would be a cool "What if" and if it turns out to be true, my surprised face will cosplay expressions of either Ross or Joey from "Friends".

I constantly think of a cutscene in Season of Arrivals where Ghost calls the Pyramid a being, not a ship. Like the Witness has a body form but each Pyramid is like a hand to the Witness. I believe the Statue is definitely a link. Of the Pyramids we’ve been in, the ones where the Witness communicates with us all had one. I don’t remember one in Rhulks Pyramid which makes sense. Savathun would want to sever that connection if she’s keeping it in her Throne World. I wonder if once the Witness is gone, could we learn to pilot these ships? They’d be quite useful in leaving the Sol system if we wanted to.

I’m not gonna get my hopes up, but a surprise introduction of a new enemy race is one of the big things that Final Shape REALLY needs to succeed from a gameplay standpoint. And from a story standpoint, if nothing more truly ends up happening with the Pyramids, then it was really unkind of Bungie to tease an entire fleet of ships for several years and make them amount to nothing more than a scenery backdrop.

Wait. You list three times the Veil was used, but wasn’t the most prominent version of it being used Maya Sunderash with group of exos??

Personally I do feel we will get a new race, just not a pyramid race, they pyramid story is over basically, it would create two problems, first, once we fight them they would just seen to be much stronger than all the others so going back to fight the other factions would feel meaningless, and then, once the witness is killed, then the story of this faction is already over, I think that what's going to happen is we're getting a new faction after the final shape but it's going to be some random alien race with their own story so that they can fit into the roster of enemies we already have.

I really like this theory and makes sense to me too. Wouldn't it be great that after The Witness is defeated their souls go back to the dead bodies and a new race is revealed?

What if the reason they were kidnapping humans was to make another witness or something to push the witness back like a gardener and they changed their mind and chose to scrap that idea?

You know now that I think about it, there might be more to the Tormentors and Subjugators because of this. Not much is known about them, save for their names. You have some called Reverents showing their allegiance to the Witness (duh) but then you have some called Imprints or Cavum. The first was Toniq, Imprint of Nezarec. You would encounter this one on your first run of the Hypernet Current strike. Because of this one’s name and the RoN Raid, people believed Nezarec and Tormentors to be part of one race or Nezarec being the base model for Tormentors, the notion even mentioned by some Neomuna npcs. But this can’t be true because at the start of the raid, Nezarec was only a head. Before that he was shown to be more human looking in a cutscene during Season of Plunder. Looking at the definition of Cavum helps us, in Latin it means “Hole”; often used in medicine to describe ear shapes or more commonly: Brain Holes that should normally be filled (Cavum Septum Pellucidum). “Holes of Nezarec” don’t really make sense but with your discussion of the Pyramid Race’s spirits returning to a prepared vessel, it becomes clearer. They are “Holes FOR Nezarec” :). In Hypernet Current and RoN, Nezarec’s consciousness was waking up, influencing the world around him, and seeking a body. Conveniently, These Tormentors allowed him a space to inhabit within themselves. It doesn’t make sense for the Witness to leave Tormentor body guards and hordes of shadow legion on its own Pyramid when Nezarec was only a couple dead body parts. Nezarec was the one to call upon them. Tormentors do show up in other places after Nezarec’s death and the introduction of Subjugators put more weight on the question, “what are they?” Your theory might explain the presence of Strand in one of the Subjugators and the requirement of a flexible mind(s?) to wield it contrary to the cold force of will required to wield the controlling Stasis. But if this is wrong, it would be soooo lame cause what else could they be?

Honestly, I think The Final Shape will just be alright. The conflicting views, perspectives, and stories at Bungie have totally killed the lore of this game. The collectors edition established that the Winnower is a confirmed character, which is great. However, with the Light and Darkness saga ending, I doubt there will be any time to thoroughly explore the characters of the Gardener and the Winnower. The year of The Final Shape will most likely be dedicated to tying off loose threads with the enemy races like we’ve seen, (The Vex, Scorn, and the Hive), but that’s all. With the end of those plot lines, the ‘Light and Darkness saga’ comes to a close. No time to explore the Gardener and the Winnower, because they are intrinsically linked to a story that’s ending, but wasn’t fully told. The best thing I can compare it to are the Star Wars Sequel. It’s a jumbled up mess of different people wanting to tell different stories, and in the end they fall back on something that came out of nowhere and retconned literally everything in the original trilogy. TLDR; no time to properly explain Gardener and Winnower, conflicting stories killed Bungie’s time to explain what’s happening, and we’re gonna get an unsatisfying ending with no real substance.

Imagine we get neuralinks and we turn our consciousness towards the simulation instead of our bodies senses, now we use the bodies as robots while the consciousness is focused elsewhere and connected to others. Now we can see through others linked bodies and integrate the differences while maintaining separation and identity. Something is born from our connections though and it would grow as more feed it their differences in memories and such.

Do you think there is anything more to the tree of silver wings? Like why was it there in the garden alongside the gardener and the winnower. If it feeds on both light and dark then why does the traveler make a new one from its beam in Root of Nightmares? Seems odd that it would come from the light but yet consumes both sides. (And like what was up with the Io one why did mara tell osiris to plant that one) As someone who sadly got baited into this addiction of a game right before season of the seraph the peak before the incredible lightfall, ive been interested in the games lore which this channel has provided the deepest ive loved and upon reading up on this tree have been the most confused about it. Maybe I missed something or its been retconned in some way.

I think we getting a new race at the end would be such a letdown and wasted potential Like, you wasted your opportunity to INLCUDE it with the Pyramids, that opportunity is gone, let it die, cut it off I rather we get a completely NEW race rather than get what we should've gotten a year ago with Lightfall with a lame explanation for it The witness as a whole needs to die and never be brought up again in the lore and in the game, it's one of the worst lore implementations in a videogame I've ever seen, just please let us kill him and forget about him forever

this is not a bad theory, and it's probably correct in principle, but I don't think the pyramid race will come back; it's too late and Destiny will probably move on to, hopefully, other star systems, where the pyramid race may not be relevant as I mentioned in another comment, it's probable we will "purify" the Witness, and this may mean separating some or all of the pyramid race members from it, maybe back to the bodies in the urns or something, but I doubt we will fight them. We will probably see them chillin', giving quests or something

Honestly, this sounds like a very Bungie move. Your theory sounds the most plausible with how they’ve fumbled this franchise. Everyone is pissed about the Pyramid ships being empty and not holding the actual 5th race called the Veil. So, I 100% believe Bungie would walk their terrible idea back this way. If this idea were to happen, it’d probably go something like this: Players “defeat” The Witness at the end of the Final Shapes campaign; the Witness then makes some last-minute dialogue and puts its backup plan into effect, we see it split itself off camera(sort of like Savathun turning herself into a Crystal after we found out she was cosplaying as Osiris) to make it seem disgusting/creepy, it’s revealed that the beings it splits into are the raid bosses. In the raid, we probably defeat all these different versions of The Witness and the forms it takes, causing them to be split more until we reach the final boss that probably houses the form with the most amount of the race's power.
