How can anyone say you don't know what you're doing? I've been watching since August or September of 2001 and I've watched your playlists from the past. You've fixed every game you've shown. Customers keep bringing you games to repair. Seems to me like you know what you're doing even if you don't do it their way. Plus, where are their weekly/biweekly videos?

It can be rather dangerous saying you know more than someone about a certain topic. I mean, I could say that I know more about Australia than you do, but what I don't know is that you could have a 500 page unpublished book on the entire history of Australia, which could then prove me wrong about knowing more than you. People should just accept that although you as a pinball fixer don't necessarily know everything, what you do know is how to find the information you need. A long time ago, we as a society used to put a lot into knowing the ins and outs of everything, these days, effort gets put not into knowing the ins and outs, that's still a good thing to know, but it's equally important to know how to find information to help you. You haven't got an unpublished book on the history of Australia have you? Because that would just be awkward if you did :P

That clip is like the window winder clip in my car :P The only difference is at least you can grab this one with some pliers. The clip for the window winders in my car, you need a screwdriver to release / push it out of the tight little space it exists in, and when you release it, it goes flying. Lost 1, eventually went to a wrecker to get a replacement, the wrecker lost one trying to remove it and was lucky on the 2nd go!

Man I've been there, done that, but on the older cars they're bigger so it's not as bad. They're more of like a hairpin clip... you need a special tool to take it off though, lol

What a coincidence! We too have a ghost that we call George at the hotel I work at. It was the name of a regular guest who passed away of old age. Naturally he had the security bolt set on the room door and was on the second floor. It was a lot of fun getting into the room. He is friendly. Turns TVs and lights on at random on the upper floors and in my office.

I've been in field service a long time, going back to electro mechanical copiers, and back in the old days, when you got trained on machines, they concentrated on teaching you how to use the documentation rather than memorizing how the machinery worked. You'll never memorize every relay and switch in a piece of equipment, but if you learn how to read the documentation (and if the company writes good documentation, pretty rare these days), you can fix anything just knowing the basics! Come on, people!

I saw a Jamma board on eBay that has 60 of the classic arcade games. I am guessing you could use this board and convert an arcade game into a 60 game machine ? It needs a bunch of other parts to hook up the buttons and joystick and monitor, but it would be a great way to salvage a machine cabinet that doesn't have the boards any more

There's a similar product to the knife cleaning blocks called fret-erasers. They are for cleaning nickel guitar frets. They may more affordable, and are a different shape (smaller) so may be more convenient. Not suggesting they're better, just an alternative if there are things about the knife blocks that you don't like.

Conformal Coating is generally used to protect against moisture. Will those traces tarnish? Probably...but if it's a TRACE it won't be an issue as the oxidation is not all the way through the trace. I might consider putting down the green silkscreen material...no...no I wouldn't. LOL. Great work as always.

Will every score reel have a end of stroke switch? I only have one Williams (Space Odyssey) and the 10k reel quit. I pulled out player #2 10k reel and there's no end of stroke switch there either. I didn't use player #2 much as I just got the game and it's missing solenoid for player #2 10's reel. Help please.
@LyonsArcade
@LyonsArcade 2 года назад
No they won't on the 10k reels... Since the game can only score 1,000 points at a time and the end of stroke switch is used to turn off the relay, there is only a 1,000 pt relay, so the end of stroke switch is only on the 1,000 point reel. The other ones just score when the 1,000 point relay gets to 9,000....

I dislike C-Clips. Worst invention ever. I can see why some call them Jesus clips. It's "Jesus, where did that go" :) Ignore the people that say you need to cover the copper traces on a PCB. It's only for looks, and for the situations where moisture could be an issue. They will survive perfectly without any coating. In fact, a lot of early PCB's (over 60 years ago I am talking) did not have coatings, and the survived perfectly fine for over 60 years. Copper oxidizes, but it forms a layer on the top and that is it. It's not like steel that rusts and flakes.
@LyonsArcade
@LyonsArcade 2 года назад
Thanks Brendan, yeah those c-clips are a paiiiiiiin.... the smaller they are, the worse they are too, because you can't find them, LOL If they were about 3 inches wide it wouldn't be so bad :) Thanks for watching man as always!

omg, I shot beer out my nose on "Jesus clip". I somehow have never heard them called that, but I have certainly had them ricochet around my workshop. Always fun to add a half-hour of searching time to a project while you locate which seemingly impossible location the clip somehow ended up in.
