Like how hard is it not to censor anything and market it under a stricter rating that would give a warning "uncensored version"? I understand Japanese culture, but cmon, Japanese game industry suffers massively from this, they legit play games, one generation earlier, than the rest of the world... Aside from private parts/extreme gore cases like decapitations, everything else should be allowed under players discretion...

Also in japan the killing of joel was deemed to gruesome. So instead of being killed at the very beginning of the game the player goes through the game playing as joel and ellie on a mission to find a cure. Abby has been completely erased from this version of the game.

It's funny because the Japanese art is sexier in my opinion yet the violence is laughable and in the West the violence is top notch but the art sucks, again in my opinion

First time I saw the English scribbled note I went "wtf?!" not because of the content, bot how it's been depicted. Who'd draw something like that out of boredom? That didn't make any sense to me. Here, I totally prefer the Japanese version. It not only uses the whole sheet, but it also looks like someone at least a bit apt at drawing indeed wasted time by drawing rather than scribbling something for 5 minutes.

no lie, played this is japan and loved the game, but feel cheated out now that I know this. people were talking about all these things that happened in the game and I was just sitting in complete confusion; I loved the game so much, there was no way I missed scenes, or that I just missed critical shots every time I killed someone.

I remember even in the ps1 days Resident Evil would get censored in Japan while getting all the detailed gore in the west. Japan's rating boards having issues with gore (specifically dismemberment and mutilation) is not a new thing, which is a shame imo. TLOU2 is a waste of time, but saying "THIS IS JAPAN'S REVENGE FOR MUH SJWs!" is a pretty dum dum take.

I have a new censored game to bring to your attention. The Fairy Tail game came out a few days ago and with the 1.01 patch, it was discovered that KT and Gust censored the few panty shots that could be seen during battle. While before it would happen every so often, now if it would happen, there is now a blatant blob of shadow. Mind you that this is Fairy Tail, a series very well know for its fanservice , both male and female alike. As far as I can tell, this is the only change that was made and all the other "questionable" moments including the fanservice costumes, bikini costumes and the likes, and even a whole 15-20 min scene of the girls talking to each other in a pool wearing said bikinis. This is even bringing up some of the characters normal outfits like Cana, who is always wearing a bikini top, and Erza, whose armor she switches into during combat leaves nothing to the imagination.

It's funny because I've seen japanese versions of crude drawings of genitalia on their media before, without them needing to censoring it. Maybe they could've gone with those, I dunno. Also, as much I don't like TLOU, I agree with them in wanting a less censored version. If the over the top violence is one of the main features of the game, you're taking away from that by censoring it. At the end you'll just be alienating fans with that.

Remember when '80s and '90s Japanese animation and video games were full of over-the-top violence, blood gushing and gore, nudity (from tasteful to lewd) and all-out hentai (with or without tentacles)? They literally claimed that they censor japanese games worldwide now because of their global standards so that they only have to create one version of the game.... And Sonys biggest PS4 Exclusive proves that that was just was lie....
