The Capitals added an incredible defenseman in free agency and another via trade, but how did their other moves pan out? Follow me on Twitter @ R1nkR4t
Looked into the cap stuff earlier. They just assigned Backstrom to "offseason LTIR," apparently, meaning Caps are under the 10% cushion. A doctor verifies he won't play for at least 10 games/24 days from when season starts and you get offseason cap relief. When season starts, both can formally hit LTIR, and no moves will actually be required.
@@kristinH82 that's without Backstrom on LTIR. They put him on offseason LTIR to get below the 110% you're allowed in the offseason and Oshie is likely to go on LTIR too and they're below the cap at season's start
As a fellow caps fan, it's ridiculous how different this Free Agency has been played by GMBM. That Vegas room must have worked, he's been absolutely smoking the market. A+ off season for the Caps even if he makes no more moves.
@@OdysseyCS8 marchessault and skjei , plus stamkos....id take stamk9s for 4 yrs way before i took guentzle for any amount of time....forsbergh and o reily needed some support , they got it
just wait till you watch Chycrun play guys the biggest liability on the ice I have ever seen. Offensively hes good he will get you points, but gets caught a lot pinching, but defensively good luck buddy's out to lunch.
I really think they should sign Vrana. They can get him cheap. He is Currently a free agent last playing in the Blues farm team. Maybe he can get his game back. He just did not mesh in lavi's system. Also, the stop the world man made flu from China did not help his game either.
LOL... you got the worst contract in the league, then you got mangiapane who might score 20 this year for nearly 6 million a year AND gave up an asset and did not make CGY retain? Thompson was a good call for sure, but other than that, don't expect much but cap mess and maybe 8th place again. Conroy and Blake love the fact this franchise exists. All that said, I do hope ovi can take down the all time record, lets hope it really was issues with his stick first half of season.
Yeah no Nashville has had a better Day 1 than Washington and it isn't even close. Plus Washington hasn't even signed any of their free agents (both UFA and FA). Valiant effort in trying though.
Did you even watch the video? They signed one of their two RFAs in McMichael. They traded the other RFA Malenstyn for a draft pick. They let Aube Kubel go, but replaced him with Duhaime. Pacioretty is the only unsigned UFA/RFA, but he's not coming back and that's not a big loss.
@gabrielrockman oh my apologies they have 2 of their free agents signed and of course I didn't watch the video. I missed the re-ups on NHL's site. Regardless I'm not saying that they didn't have a great day, it's just that Nashville had the best day out of any team. Stamkos, Marchessault, and Skjei were highly sought after FAs and it seems like the Preds are in a win now mentality.
@davidlinehat4657 Nashville did make the Cup in 2017 so they totally can win the Cup. It all comes down to Saros and if he can stay healthy this year come playoff time.
