There is a “look” (so to speak) that certain investigators can see nowadays. It’s called criminal profiling. At the time this happened, the FBI had just started their studies into the subject, and forensic policing was still in its infancy. No one had any idea what to look for or what to investigate when trying to find serial killers, especially considering the term itself hadn’t even been coined. It’s easy now to say “they should have done X, Y, and Z,” but consider the time period, and the fact that the people charged with investigating Bundy had never seen anything like him. They didn’t have 30 years worth of case evidence and expert help from federal law enforcement to back them up and help them. The guy didn’t have a lengthy criminal record or a history of violence, had a reasonably nice house and means of income, so why would they go after him when they could be investigating someone who looked way more guilty? I’m not saying they were right to ignore him, but they were against a deadline to solve those cases, and when you’ve got other suspects who seem much more suspicious than him, you have to prioritize your time looking into them.

Fun fact: my fathers friend worked as someone who towed trucks during the 70’s. (We live in IL) let’s call the friend Peter. Well, one day, Peter got a call to tow a car that had apparently driven down in a ditch near a river off a highway or road and had gotten stuck. Peter went down and towed the truck, thinking nothing of it. Just a careless driver. He noticed the driver was a little odd, with a safety tag or something on the car. Peter didn’t mind, and did his job. A month later Peter got a call into court, to testify. Peter arrived and the judge was with the man who’s car he towed. The judge asked Peter if this was the man who’s car he had towed and to describe what happened and what the car looked liked. Peter identified the man and car as the one he towed and saw. He shrugged it off as a small crime the man must have done. A few weeks later, all over the news was that John Wayne Gacy had been sentenced to prison and the crimes he has done. Peter looks at the photo of John, and is surprised to realize that John Wayne Gacy was the man who’s car he towed. Apparently Gacy had dropped his last victims body off in the river right before he came and got towed. Pretty crazy!!

It’s really a shame how many of these dudes had wives or girlfriends that saw/heard/smelled things but chose not to go to the cops. History is littered with these cases of cops ignoring worried friends and parents of victims because a guy doesn’t fit their profile, but they would listen to a woman who thinks her husband is a killer in a heartbeat.

So as I have studied serial killers, watched movies, documentaries, read articles and books on them I couldn't get enough of my research. So as a local chicagoan, I've visited the home of Gaysee (if someone wants to come for me on my spelling mark it wrong on my spelling test!). I sat there staring at the new house built on the property envisioning what was once were. Then an old guy came out of his house and walked to my car. He must've known why I was there. He just started talking to me about Gacy! He knew him because he lived in his home since the 70s. He offered me to come in his house and talk more. I declined but he continued to stand there speaking to me. There's nothing like having the knowledge of events that took place from someone who was actually there to see it for themselves. I fed my hunger to know more. I learned from him more about Gacy in that 10 minute conversation than I have from anything prior that I've learned.

I don't understand how the venting works for the sewer lines. I know the sewer part of a home plumbing has to be vented to prevent explosion of sewer gasses but how did the crawl space air get drawn up into the bathroom?
@justinguillemette796
@justinguillemette796 2 года назад
@@dannydaw59 the air could have just seeped through spaces within the walls and floors that weren’t completely sealed. Also, venting in plumbing isn’t so sewer gases don’t explode, it’s to provide atmospheric pressure to the used water so it flows properly. For example: if you open a soda bottle and turn it upside down, the soda kinda glugs out instead of a nice flow. If you poke a hole in the soda bottle when it’s open and let the soda flow out, it will flow out gently

Years ago one of my local tv stations had a thing where every I think Saturday they would play a movie based on a real life (usually a crime) incident and then after the movie would show a little special they'd made regarding the true story the movie was based on(one of my favs was an interview with Jeffrey Dahmer's prom date). So when they showed the movie where Brian Dennehy played John Wayne Gacy, afterward they showed a kind of lecture by the high something or other of the official organization of clowns. Since he was being serious he was wearing a suite and tie, NOT clown stuff. In any case this guy who ironically is being dead serious, explains that not only was JWG an evil serial killer of children, ...he was a BAD clown. The highlite was that he explained that are different kinds of clowns and they have guidelines about how they are supposed to dress and about makeup etc. For children's entertainer clowns their makeup is supposed to be all rounded. It makes them look jolly. He showed a picture of JWG as clown. There are some picts in the video. Look at them. The paint around his mouth comes to points. The fake eyebrows above his real eyebrows are triangles. He pointed out that look is demonic not child friendly. I got the feeling that had JWG come to attention of this guy, even if he HADN'T killed anybody, this guy would have drummed him out of clownbiz.

You know. It would've been funny to see him go up against the only man with a similar name, and get pummeled by this man. This man is "The Duke". This man is Marion Michael Morrison. This man is... John Wayne.

John Wayne was an actor who played a tough guy in movies. he never joined the military or grew up tough and had spent his life trying to make sure nobody knew about it. I’d say that the clown would be walking out of that room alive.

No one talks about this but it’s so important: The discrimination and abuse John faced a child is a huge part of his murderous adulthood. It’s so important to be good to people, especially be good parents/guardians to your children/wards. Discrimination, abuse, neglect, etc only help to destroy our society - and using religion to defend your discrimination is just you finding an excuse to pollute our World with your bigotry.

Supposedly, he also suffered a head injury that some attribute to his future psychopathic tendencies. Couldn't tell you if it was true, but he certainly had a remarkable lack of empathy, despite being seen as a sensitive child.

This. Is. Why. People. Should. Be. NICER. How hard is it to not be mean to your kid? Seriously, if someone abuses and torments their kid I don’t think they should be shocked when they’re a killer! (Not excusing killer’s actions, should’ve just got therapy)

I remember my dad telling me a story of how he went to one of John's house parties as a teenager in the mid 70s in/by Chicago. Wouldn't let my dad go down stairs to the basement to smoke he told me. Remembers hearing foot steps following him at night on his way home and ended up sprinting home. 😬

Possibly, but it took some doing to get him in the end as it was. It's possible that, if he hadn't stored so many bodies down in the crawlspace, he would have gotten away with it. It was the smell that did him in.

One of my most favorite albums of all time is "Acid Bath: When the kite string pops”. Now what made the album so controversial was the album cover itself, which included art work from John Wayne Gacy himself. It was a painting of him dressed as Pogo the clown. If you can find it, I would recommend giving finger paintings of the insane a listen. The lyrics are sick and twisted though.

Your opening statement in this video almost made me cry😥 It's so sad that the man people thought of as a "pillar of the community", was a monster 👹who murdered young men and teen-aged boys. It's so sad😥
