Although not quite this bad, from '76 to '80, I was stationed at an Air Force base in the northern tip of Maine. I saw ambient temps as low as negative 29 degrees F. Chill factors down to negative 50 degrees F. I learned the hard way to remove the battery anytime temps got below zero. Otherwise my '67 Chevelle would not start the next morning. Being a native southern Californian, the winter weather in Maine was quite a shock. I had to deal with frozen doors, tires frozen to the ground, and lots of oil leaks. Old cars are not well suited to extreme cold.
All you need is an engine block heater which you plug in. Starts every time. Order the vehicle with one or install one... it's easy and you don't have to go through this nonsense. Or an electric battery heater. ANYTHING but this.
it's not practical, they run on electricity and would need to run 24/7. A block heater is like running 20 100 watt light bulbs for 20 hrs per day..This is Yakutz in Russia...not USA..temps in yakutz get down to -50
@@scotthughes7440 well at least here in Finland we have timers in our outlets to make the heater turn on 1 hour before leaving. It’s definately more efficient than blowing warm air to the engine.
Because you have to find a socket. They are not common on parking areas. To build an one parking lot you need to go to several companies and city administration just to get an approval. Who would pay for all this paperwork and installations and electricity bills after cold winters? All this questions has no answers for now
They should have installed heaters for the engine and battery. They have a battery warmer, engine coolant block warmers, oil pan warmers. Still seems like an extreme environment
In eastern Oregon we use a battery heater and oil heater, that’s why you see a plug pigtail sticking out of the radiator grill so we can plug it into an extension cord when we get home from work. Our temps can get down to around -5 so those work fine for us through the winter but definitely wouldn’t work for -50 degree climates. On top of that we have extremely low humidity levels which affects skin and other materials differently than the rest of the country, this dry climate is why you find mostly European people living these, others can’t handle the conditions just like I despise living in places like Georgia or Texas, the heat and humidity sucks for me.
I lived in Norman Wells NWT in Canada for 10 years. I loved every moment there. When it got this cold everything was left running all through the deep freeze. Day in and day out. You/We get used to it eh.
Well lets see where to start? Synthetic oil is well suited for these temps. Battery warmers with low temp stats work very well. As well add a year or so of life to them. I see that they are trying for another Hindenburg , with attaching the ground onto the battery! It is always best to attach to a ground on the block/ or of such. So that any sparks are away from the battery. Not my doing but have seen 3 batteries explode, so don't wish any more. As well block heaters for such temps are a great idea. Or two depending on the engine size! I see the corrosion on the one battery at (4:27 time. ) little wonder why it did not start!! Prevention is always better!!
Guaranteed battery’s do not like it cold charging could be slowed to a crawl capacity overall diminished and thousands in battery’s every couple years had enough yet?

Guys why not just empty the oil in the evening takeit inside the house with you.... then in the morning heat it up on a stove and pour it back inside the engine while the oil is very hot
BULL SHIT.The highest temperature recorded in Utqiagvik was 79 °F (26 °C) on July 13, 1993, while the lowest is −56 °F (−49 °C) on February 3, 1924; the highest minimum is 56 °F (13 °C) on August 5, 2023, while the lowest maximum is −47 °F (−44 °C) on January 3, 1975.
As far as the first question goes, Why would people want to live ANYWHERE? THERE'S A POSITIVE AND A NEGATIVE ASPECT TO ANY LOCATION. LONG LIVE CHOICES!
@@gordonwallace3584 yes but when the negatives are like this it’s crazy! Supposedly I’m having a medical emergency and need help. They would take forever to get to me🤦🏾♂️
I have the same tools and microfiber from temu too lol. Seriously though, plastic has what insulation abilities... And the reinstalled that windshield with double sided foam tape, probably from temu as well. This a ridiculous video.
