How They Will Steal The Painting - The Great Art Robbery 

This is one of Derren's OLDEST tricks and he taught you how to do it on the Devil's Picturebook DVD. Awesome to see him bring out a trick from back in the day!!

One of the things that is so impressive about famous performers like Derren Brown and David Copperfield, is their close-up magic and sleight-of-hand technique are impeccable.

“Card Under The Box” is a great routine. His misdirection and palming is excellent. Plus his sleeve comes in to play at the end!! 😉😉

I love the way that these are shot, Derren doesn't hide the moment in which he performs some sort of trickey. You can see him placing the card under the box, palming the card and there are even moments when a sound effect plays as he's doing it. At the end of the day, the illusion is perhaps ruined for anyone who bothers to look for it, but the technical skill is equally amazing.

Everytime I watch Derren Brown, all I end up screaming is "HOW!?" "THATS NOT REAL!!"

That makes me think of an episod from "The Mentalist" when Patrick Jane steals a painting from a Russian Gangster. This event in any case shows that elder people can be excellent students and have fun.

Had to watch it a second time to figure everything out. Don't know how the guy furthest away from the camera didn't notice the painting get removed, though. Maybe they put him there for a reason.

I do love his card work. I know mentalism built his name, but the sleight of hand card magic from him is a real treat. When he combines them they're of course wonderful melding of both, like his cigarette trick for example, is just very boss.

It doesn't help the camera keeps zooming in so you can't see the Mona Lisa etc.

I rewinded to see Derren put the card under the box. :P

one of the best magician in the world :) not because he can do all these but he does his misdirections very clean. because he picked old people he knows that if he leans onto the card to show it ( making them think that seeing the card is difficult ) they will focus only to read what card it is. they will not mind the painting. or there is a simple expalantion and he uses stooges but i highly doubt that.

I noticed the painting vanished in the middle of the trick and thought this might be an editing error.

There was a small jump cut at 2:31 and that's when the painting was removed from the room!

At 2:07 you can see that he put's the six of diamonds under the box... But they are all focused on the deck of cards so they don't notice it :)

The lady closest to the camera sees the box and looks at it four or five times at 3:50 :P. I was fooled by the painting though!

its so bs, paintings worth more than 1 million pounds and there is only one guard, and there are many more things that you wouldnt know...

This show is bollocks. It's only because of the camera angles that the viewer can see the things that are going on. It prevents any interaction of the audience to the show.
