Using the sweeper keeper is the greatest introduction to football tactics. Keeper's role is very underestimated as a traditional one. 2 man defense at the back is very sufficient in most cases, but with defense overload as in with the compact 5 - 4 - 1 transition it becomes trying to say the least to score. As with any game the point of the game is to score goals, and here is where creativity in positional play comes to the fore. The mentioned 2 - 7 - 2 approach is this. Knowing that the ball is the more important factor than the player, and therefore, the aforementioned formation[2 - 7 -2 with 2 wide men on each side] is derived. This is a very brilliant approach to solve some of the goal scoring problems, but still the emphasis is on possession of the ball. Let us not take away from the fact that this is as yet a possession style of football. Playing with the ball as opposed to playing for the ball...but, by and large a very interesting solution to the problems of scoring goals. Cheers @DK Falcon

Honestly nothing new under the sky. The concept was actually introduced by an Italian Trainer in the 80’s. Oronzo Canà with his innovative 5-5-5 was the one who re-invented the football tactic

The point of his masterpiece tactical is serie A culture. Most of team play with strategy of mark man and deep line defense. Motta try to break this rule with " unprectditable movement and positioning". If he go to EPL this tactical cant work properly

For me it is still 4-1-4-1 i defence that change to 3-2-5 (2-3-5) in attack. Hardly a revolution😅 but how Bologna's transition looks it is very interesting. Great video! 😊
