This video went out to my Patrons 48 hours Just minutes after leaving the runway at Edinburgh Scotland, this small royal mail cargo plane crashes into the Firth of Forth Estuary killing the two pilots on board. What caused Loganair Flight 670A to crash? Did snow and weather play a part in the dual engine failure? and what conditions did the plane endure before take-off?

Quit ripping off more successful channels than you? I like the content but the blatant ploy for attention is not just plagiarism. Its pathetic and coincidently I dont care how this came afoot. Don't do it again and use your brain power just a little harder next time will you? I'm sick of bandwagoners scraping views away from more poignant versions of themselves. @@yuvula6394 I don't know why you decided to post this comment. But I watch other channels that do similar work, and this channel is by far one of the best in the level of detail. Even if I have seen another channel do a specific disaster, I've learned new things from watching this channel and appreciate the work that goes into it. I haven't seen this disaster before, but I doubt too many channels would have caught the tailfin detail, for example.

They ditched their aircraft to save lives on the ground actually. They were obviously trying to get back to the airport, but they were really low and getting closer to land. Carl was incredibly brave doing that imo, and he was such a gentleman, and a friend as well as a colleague (I was cabin crew and flew on that aircraft for a long time). I hadn't had the fortune to meet Russell yet, as he was new to the company. This accident devastated me and my colleagues. I never felt the same about flying after that tbh. RIP 💔

I like Mini Air Crash Investigation, glad to see his channel maturing. But to touch on both channels coming up with similar content so close to each other... I've seen this WAY too many times, various independent channels will have videos uploaded on the same subject matter with closely matching upload dates even if the channels have no communication between them (they don't collaborate/watch each other's content/etc.). I have to think that there's a source where something will be mentioned and the other channels that get a wiff of the topic (a staff member will see a video/will hear about subject XYZ/even so much as look for trending topics) will turn out their own version of the story. Well, that's my assumption anyway as I can't prove any of it. But rest assured at least I too have noticed that same pattern.

The mini air crash channel most likely copied / extracted content from this video. That channel is very amateurish. I think in one video he just read the wikipedia article. The best accident / incident reviews are by Mentour Pilot. He does an excellent job and provides professional insight.

@@princeofcupspoc9073 assuming we are talking about this channel and "mini aircraft investigations" posting about the same topic on the same day.....1 post per week(even though sometimes they post multiple in a week), same day posts = 1 in 7(giving benefit of the doubt that any 1 day isn't better to post on than another) x idk maybe 500 noteworthy crashes possible to cover. So roughly 1 in 3500 chance 🤔? I don't know much about stats or how many plane crashes have enough info know to make a video about them. @@princeofcupspoc9073 Good advice, but I think the comment was intended to be sarcastic. These days pretty much all the aviation accident channels (except perhaps Airspace) are releasing almost the same content at almost the same time. It’s not 1:1e6, it’s less than 1:2. They should've just grounded the plane at Edinburgh until the snow dissipated. If the storm cancelled trains and other flights, caused unsafe driving and left homes without power, then that's severe weather. We have a motto in aviation. And that is "If the odds are against you, you probably shouldn't be flying today.".

I flew the SD360/330 in Scandinavian winters some 25 year ago and remembered Ice on the aircraft and airspeed dropping dangerously low. 2 engine failures. The last one was close to ending my flying career. We lost control of the propeller governor and never in my life experience a noise and vibration like that. Looking at the Propeller Rpm moving beyond the scale of the instrument gage. We managed to partially full feather the propeller, but the prop still windmilling and guess drag. To almost being full of cargo we had to drop altitude and accumulation of ice became a major problem and airspeed dropped dramatically to point of flaps being needed to avoid stalling. I tell you flying with partially feather prop and flaps single engine in an already underpowered airplane in snow and ice in middle of winter over the sea losing altitude,no bueno. I had my doubts that we would make it. But just below 2000 feet , water droplets started forming and the outside temperature increasing. Ice melting airspeed increased and flaps being retracted. Normally I don’t smoke but when the skipper handed me a fag, I didn’t say no. It was my first commercial job as young pilot.

I was one of the 2 (Servisair) ground crew that worked on this aircraft before its fateful take off. I can provide alot more detail on the moments leading up to this accident. What worries me most, is that, to date, I have never been Interviewed or asked for a witness statement of this incident by any air accident investigation. If our concerns that where raised with the Dispatcher, Engineer & Crew before take off, had been heeded and acted upon, then this accident could have been avoided. It still haunts me to this day

It sounds to me as if the ice blockage was the true culprit. I suspect the culprit was in allowing the built-up show to melt then re-freeze then melt and re-freeze. Had they run the engines longer, the ice might have melted entirely which would have allowed for an uneventful flight. I hope that, in the unlikely event of a similar situation, part of the procedure will be to allow any build-up to thoroughly melt before attempting a take off, mindful that the air in flight will be cold and cause re-freezing once more if there is water left. Good information. Well done.
@a1nelson
@a1nelson 2 года назад
I agree. In the general case, snow is easier to melt than ice (lower density, better airflow, etc.). So, the refreezing almost certainly aggravated the problem. In their defense, it’s easy to see how the problem likely snuck up on them. After running the engines for quite a long time, at ground level, it wouldn’t be completely unreasonable for them to think that they had _surely melted away any snow and ice that were in or near near the engines. Plus, the crew appears to have followed the advice of the engineer, trusting their (e.g., his) judgement and acting in good faith. It’s all very unfortunate.

Each aircraft ought have their own blanks, pitot covers and prop straps. That is criminal that it was left so exposed in extreme conditions and the engineer failed to check.
