Suillo is a phenomenal coach, idk if it's his classical training? Or if he has just been blessed by the maker. But he has a way of not just being able to dentify issues that will help, but he is able to even pick the things that will pay the biggest dividends first. I'm SURE that's what he ment by low hanging fruit. This is his way of saying "I'll see many things you could do to be quicker, but we're gonna grab a couple easier or obvious things that we will see a difference quickly" I feel guilty o hvnt taken this course yet, when the benefits are so absolutely obvious. I need to overcome my anxiety snd just spend some time with the course

This is super easy to understand in karting IRL. There are people who complain about tired arms after a 25 minutes karting session after battling the steering all the time, basically braking with their arms. But as soon as you set up the trajectory towards easier steering and turn with brakes you just immediately go faster and don't get tired at all. In sim just set up the max force on you wheel and instead of finding the way through the corner with your wheel find it with your brakes.

I feel like relaxing hands technique come naturally to people who started on a G29 wheel. The FFB is so subtle that you slowly let the wheel straighten itself out naturally as you turn in a corner. With a stronger wheel, you’re gripping on for dear life.

What a great explanation of how the various forces from the brakes, engine braking, momentum, tire grip, driver input, and most importantly Force Feedback all work together. Steer less with the steering wheel and more with the accelerator and brake pedals. some thing i heard before about the "string", is you imagine that string is connected from the brake pedal to teh bottom of the steering wheel, literally preventing you from braking 100% and turning 100% at the same time. forcing you to do a smooth ratio between the imputs? another i heard is that stirling moss said "you should only ever apply the throttle once in a turn. if you need to use it before the exit, you're doing it wrong" (paraphrased). i think you basically taught both these concepts but adapted!

For example I currently have my base set at max which is 27nm for me, but I've found in games I have FFB set to 20% so I make the 5.4nm of FFB, should I be looking for a bit more?

Hi Almeida, Awesome videos I learn a lot from them and your book. Would you be able to do a video on the proper technique to setup the FFB as you were explaining in the video I didn't completely understand that? I have a Simcube Pro 2 and I have in iRacing the Max Force set to 47nm and the Wheel Force set to 25nm. Do I need more Max Force? Please explain. How would you set this up in ACC as I also run that sim also. Keep up the awesome work and videos :)
@alpha007org
@alpha007org Месяц назад
Example: Max Force 30nm. Wheel Force 15nm. Max Force is what is iRacing outputting to Wheel Force. Say the car is producing 30nm, and you have Max Force set up at 30nm. That 30nm (virtual) will get translated to your Wheel Force (15nm real FFB your DD is outputting). So 30nm (simulated) will be 15nm in your hands. Another Example: you have DD that can produce 30nm. If you set up Max Force 30nm, and Wheel Force 30nm, you're running it 1:1. If the car is outputting 10nm you will feel 10nm. However. Since some cars have light steering, and you want the strength feel similarly across all cars, you'll have to experiment. Check the "custom controls for this car."

@suellio is it possible to restart a lap from a predetermined point? Like in this example, are you able to reset the lap right before turn 1, so that you can practice turn 1 over and over? Or is he driving all the way around the track to get back to turn 1 every single time and it's just edited out of the video? Would be amazing to be able to practice a specific section of a track that one is having difficulty with, instead of having to drive around the entire track.

@Delimon007 Месяц назад
I noticed in the beginning that I think he's braking a bit late as well. He's also definitely trying to force the car to do something that it can't do. Every car has its limits and trying to push a car beyond that will cause it to understeer heavily. I believe this is what is making him want to turn in more underbraking as well which is a no no because that will actually just cause the car to stop later. This lesson was great in teaching him to undo his bad habit for sure. Edit: Also you explain what I said in the other short here as well :) Racing in one car will not teach you to race well in another. How you race a production car is not the same as how you would race in a GT car, which is also not the same how you would race in a racing purpose vehicle like an LMP or an F1. Each class of car requires different techniques to drive them properly.
