How to 🔧 Replace HandTruck Cart Dolly Wheels with Pressed on Nut - Links to parts in description.

Here's help finding the parts (by popular demand) (Associate link, I get a small cut if used, thanks for the support)
axle cap: amzn.to/3Y87PpN
push on nut: amzn.to/3h5AkDG
replacement wheels: amzn.to/3iMO2vC
Sometimes it's just a little tricky to replace a simple 10" wheel from a hand truck, dolly, generator, pressure washer, etc. There are several types of one-way or pressed on keepers, and maybe this will help you with your problem.
I used locking pliers, lubricant, a hammer and a 17mm socket to get this job done. Also, the axle was 5/8", I accidentally called it 5/16" Haha...

This really was the way! Thanks a lot. The pressed washer was also rusted on. Hitting it with WD-40 loosened it, and the vice grips warped the washer so that it broke its hold on the axle (I heard a crack as the rust separated) and I could reuse mine as well. I’m also going to harbor freight for the cheap wheels:-) thanks!

I would have been very confused if I hadn't watched this video first, wasn't expecting that ring (and was heading out to do this in an area with very little light). On my way out the door I did a quick RU-vid search, watched your video and instead of a lot of frustration, it was a very quick job and the socket to reattach quickly was a great suggestion. (As was the WD40 and refilling the tires) Thank you!

A Dremel tool is ideal for removing the rusted on nut. I use small pipe clamps to cinch them around the axle after tire/wheel replacement. Ya can also drill a hole through the axle, and use a cotter pin 📌, to hold the tire/wheel assembly on. Your friend, Jeff.

Great Video. I had no idea how to begin to get that thing off there. After spraying on the WD-40 I just started hammering with a metal hammer on the backside pushing the whole rim which was pushing the washer.. Bent the washer on the backside, but that's no big deal. The main washer on the outside that I wanted to save came out nice and flat and smooth . It did go rolling across the patio fortunately it didn't go far . I would recommend a little catch area for the washer. Thanks again. Great video

Be a good idea to get some spare press nuts/washers before you do this, in the likely event you break one taking it off.

what would Home Depot call the press nuts/washers? I'd like to get them in advance.

I bought almost the same replacement wheels from Harbor Freight. Less than 2 years of minimal use and one of the wheels is leaking air from the rim welds.

No tube?

@@BarryTsGarage It does say “rating tube type” on the side wall so I’m guessing it has a tube that punctured by just sitting mostly. I might try some sealant before replacing. I don’t want hassle with replacing the tube if possible.
