Welcome to a VERY requested video! I really wanted to get this one out as soon as possible so I do apologize if its not as polished as it could be! Video 2 and 3 are complete! In this 3-part series I'll be covering how to PRINT a Mando helmet followed by how to PAINT a Mando Helmet. This is a hot topic and I didn't want to leave any stone unturned so while this video is probably longer than other "Tutorials" I promise I do my best to share all the information I've gathered printing these helmets!

Me to! I'm trying to print a sith helmet at 80% and cura 4.8 says 9 days! This video helped a lot. Now it says 3 days and some change. Hope it turns out ok.

Sliced my Boba Fett bucket in to eigths using the methods shown here. Used the same ender 3 settings. So far I've printed half the helmet and other than some mistakes I made printing supports in the back vent, it's going really really well. I got the printer for Christmas and I was kind of nervous because everyone on Reddit makes printing seem like a nightmare. Other than a couple bad leveling jobs, your settings have made every print successful. Thanks a bunch. I'd love to see a video on how you fuse all the pieces after printing when you have to slice them up for a small printer.

This is one of the best 'how to print' vids for a helmet I've seen, i also learned a load about cura settings, support density is probably why my supports have been so stubborn to remove, great vid!

I just really wanted to say thank you for everything you do! Despite being a relatively small channel you’ve made resources for so many aspects of 3D printing and cosplaying. More than I’ve found in any other channel and while this is just my experience you cover every single topic that interests me about 3D printing and give lots of great insight to the processes. Keep doing what you’re doing, I know for a fact you’ve helped a lot of people really break into the hobby!

Wow, this is fantastic. Meant to only watch it for a few minutes but before I knew it I watched the whole thing. I got an Ender 3 v2 a month ago and I learned a lot from watching this video. I was thinking of buying a larger printer for larger projects but after this video I think I should focus on learning how to cut/post process things together and understanding the slicer settings better before I get a new printer. I'm super lost on how to glue things together in a way that looks right and aligns just right but hey that's what practice is for. So far I'm using a 3D pen to weld things together but the cleanup process there isn't always pretty. Thanks for the great video and all the info!

In Cura under the rotate tool you can use "Select face to align to the build plate" to automatically rotate the plane cut surfaces flat to the build plate. It's a great tool to use when you're slicing up models in Meshmixer.

Thank you so much for this video. I was skeptical on pulling this off, but once I got my printer dialed in (level and right temps for filament) it printed without any center supports. The inside isn't even that bad. This saved me 100s of hours. I went from a 140 hour print to a 26 hour (it actually took 32, I don't know why Simplify3D lies to me). Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

I just joined your Patreon on the back of this video Frank. I’m trying to find a silent board for my CR10-S5. Yes I bought one as my first printer! Had I watched your Creality review video before I bought it, I would have bought a 10S Pro or Ender 5. Anyway I’m starting to get it dialled in okay so no regrets other than the cost of upgrading the bed heater and print surface as I’m in Australia and postage from The US is a killer. 😩

Thank you for this awesome tutorial. Got Ender 3Pro for xmas and have been trying to hone in the settings and print a small Mando helmet, they looked like straw hats more then anything and were very fragile, they would crumble while trying to remove it from the bed. . After your video, I took my printer apart and ensured that all nuts and bolts and belts are tight, squared off, and spent half an hour levelling the bed. Used your settings for Cura and OMG what a difference, the print came out smooth and strong and took ⅓ of the time.Once again thank you for your video, great content and keep up the great job.

This video is incredible! Much appreciated for all the work that went into it. One thing that would also be helpful is if you could put what your nose-to-back-of-head and side-to-side head measurements are in the video details section. I'm thinking about printing at 105%, but it would be much easier to proportion the scaling if I compared my measurements with yours. Thanks again!

I wish I had seen this 2 days ago! I'm printing a Bo-Katan helmet and its gonna take 4-5 days to print! (Currently on day 2 on my Ender 3) So far no errors, but it would've been nice to save some time. It doesn't take a lot of filament, not sure how, but I made all of the changes you did and it brought the time down to 2 days instead. For the next helmet, I'm using these settings. I'm planning on selling these in the future so cutting the time is perfect! Great video, thank you so much :)

I can see you’ve pushed the limits a few places - more than I normally dare.. like support densinty at 2-3%.. I normally go with custom supports - everything else is like 80% same as yours - .6mm noz, 28-32 layer etc.. I’m gonna start printing one now - just to see if I can cut a few hours of using your tips.. Thx man

Just for the record, the helmet turned out brilliantly. Finding the right “chrome” was a bear though. Ended up with a sort of brushed chrome finish as Alclad would have been way too expensive down here in Oz. But happy with the way it turned out, and it was very well received by my dauhter’s boyfriend. So again, thanks for the cutting guide.

Drewcifers. No, I had to break it up into several bits for printing. I’m not near my PC to check, but I think I cut it as follows: 1. Each of the “cheeks” were printed separately. 2. Bottom rear of the helmet. (May have been two parts, left and right) 3. Top of the helmet. (Again, may have been in two parts.) Cut the helmet somewhere where you don’t lose detail when glueing/sanding when you put it all together.

There’s this guy called Galactic Armoury who makes his own 3D files and prints. If ever you need like a Clonetrooper or Stormtrooper file, give him a search. Definitely worth your while. Love the vids btw.
