Bob, this is the first time I have completed a project before you! I was so excited to see you do this and even more pleased that you and I had literally the exact same process - right down to making a custom helmet at the same time for your son (in my case, my daughter, who requested a pink and purple one with unicorns and hearts). I chalk the similarity in our processes up to how much I have watched you on your channel over the past couple of years and what I have learned from you. Keep up the great work!

@@erin.anderson Her costume ended up being pink, purple, and silver. My daughter changed her mind about the unicorns once she saw all of the armour together. We might put some stickers on it at some point though! If I knew how to put a pic up on here I would, it turned out pretty awesome!

Great job on the buckets! If there's one thing I could recommend, it's to think about some foam padding for the inside of the helmet so that it sits a bit higher on your head and doesn't wobble and twist around when you turn. Awesome stuff!

I love the idea of using the leftover silicone as a mixing pad. For really small amounts I like to use the bottom of one of those tiny paper cups, works great and keeps it all contained

I’ve been using my left over silicone for mixing for years. Works great for paint, bondo, pretty much anything. They also work good for holding pins, or any sharp pointy tools.

Great job, that was awesome to watch start to finish. We're hoping to add more functionality to the cut tool in PrusaSlicer in the near future. Although the fact that you have to rotate the parts first before you cut it actually kinda makes sense, because that's most likely the orientation you will want to print them.

Damn that looks really good. I´ve been making a clone trooper helmet out of like 10 pieces to print out. It´s really hard but i kinda like it. You should also try one of these ;)

I learned so much new things here. Prusaslicer for dividing an stl, acrylic putty for smoothing a print, the thin tape for masking etc. Really nice to be able to learn from your experience!

I did the same with the sizing. It wasnt until it was fully together that I realised the cheek parts wouldn't fit over my head

Awesome stuff! I've made mine in a very similar fashion. It's through you I discovered the 3m glazing putty and I absolutely love it! I'm currently prototyping an arduino powered motorised range finder for the helmets. Do you do want one when I finished the final product?

You gave me the inspiration to do a Masterchief helmet. I never have done one of these because I just don’t like the idea of having to glue/acetone pieces together, but your video made this feel a whole lot easier to manage and complete than I was originally expecting. Nice job! Both helmets look fantasic.

I actually chose not to watch it at first because I was afraid it was going to be another The Force Awakens let down. But after actually watching it, it is more Star Wars than many Star Wars things. I consider it to be Original Trilogy and Rogue One quality. Watch it. Jon Favreau knows his stuff 🤩🤩

Very cool! I like to see the problem solving as part of the video. Speaking of which, you can use a hair dryer to shrink the vinyl around compound curves. Increases conformity and reduced cutting.

This turned out great! For the liquid masking you can buy a little square to remove it easier. If you end up using liquid masking more it will save you time and headaches. Any art store should have some!
