If you're staying more than 90 days, than it's important to register your IMEI number, that way you can use a local SIM card number. Which is quite cheaper in use than the one you use back home. If you're in Indonesia less than 90 days, you can just go to the nearest Telkomsel GraPari store and buy a SIM card. You can register using your passport and you can use it for 30 days. You can extend it 2 more times, with a total of 90 days. After that you can not extend anymore, because you need to register your IMEI number using your NIK number.
