Summary : Preview the information Get away from distractions Write down notes Talk loud what you studied Share with like minded group of people what you learned Take power nap for 10 to 20 sec. Review what you studied.
I am a indian and I'm studying for MBBS entrance exam but i wasted my 2 years by chilling with my friends , now that is realise i started doing study but i was not able to focus on my studies due to lot's of distraction but this 1 video which is suggested by my brother helped me a lot to focus on my studies
I learned these strategies in 1982. Worked like a charm! I graduated with honors from University. I had always struggled before that and graduated high school with a 1.9 gpa. My sister was at university at the same time. I never crammed for tests because I followed these strategies. She would cram, was exhausted and didn’t get the higher grades I did. She could have but resisted learning a new way. My thanks to the 2 day seminar I took, it was well worth the money I spent taking the seminar.
Here are the methods you can use to apply these ideas: INPUT - Textbook Strategy OUTPUT - Practice Questions/Explaining to someone else PROCESS - Take a nap/Dumping everything you know/Mind-mapping REVIEW - Practice Questions/Flashcards (Spaced Repetition)
@@essahrasheed6864 hmm, it depends on your level of confidence and knowledge of each topic. For topics you're confident with, you should ideally focus on only reviewing what you already know. If you're starting to study something new, then you should apply all this framework, for one topic at s time
I'm sleeping at least 8 hours daily and spend only about 2-3 hours studying per day, and do other stuff afterwards, but I'm still clinching top academic grades. If study is interesting and you believe in it, you can absorb it with ease. It really is the mindset that counts, since many people I know try and cram everything into their heads but never seem to retain the information. Came across this video and shared it with them as well. I do believe that once you appreciate the study and understand what goes on, it turns into automatic memory. Thanks for posting this video, it helped me reinforce some of my techniques as well.
It's kind of sad that I didn't learn all of these in high school and therefore struggled. But I'm gonna be just starting university this September, so it's good that I'll be to study better in there
As a 9th grade student who feels as if ive Just started to study and everything i studied 8 years was just a preview i appreciate your both videos alot thank you
I came to this video DESPERATE for anything that might help me in school. I struggle mostly with lack of motivation and procrastination, and have been feeling pretty down about my ability to succeed. I recently had an awful interview with a Student Success Coach at my university that rang more like a Nike ad than a counseling session...but where she left me feeling defeated and even less motivated, you have given me not only truly useful strategies, but renewed hope in my ability to succeed in school. Thank you so much for the content you create, from all of us just trying to make it... Thank you.
Not only the learning methods counts, but other things also: - do some sports everyday - be more carnivorous: red meat, animal fats, eggs, dairy - sleep early - grounding
I am a kinetic "Learn by doing" kind of student! Hands-on learning works best for my learning style. Great detail at an entirely new level! You should be awarded an honorary PhD for your work! 👍
This is exactly what ive been doing for the past few years. Never knew this was a technique lol just assumed it was something my adhd came up with to compensate for the lack of attention span. Explains how I've been at the top of my classes with barely any efforts.
Yes. Many students seem to stumble across ideas that work for them. I collect and publish all the best strategies I can find that are used by the top students to get their excellent results. Looking forward to having you join us on my other videos too.
Hi Uncle Matt The way I preview videos is to watch the whole thing at double speed. That gives me an idea of the whole thing. Then I rewatch it at normal or x1.5 (depending on how slow or fast the speaker is) Then I *REWATCH* this time with my notepad and prepared to stop and rewind. And I know how to do this thanks to your videos.
I have been trying to find a good way to study as a sophmore in hs taking AP classes that i genuinely need to study for (i've never had to study like this in pass honors classes) after watching the video i was looking in the comments and decided to give this technique and i actually cannot thank you enough this has helped me so so much
Studying and learning have become so easy and fun after seeing your videos. My grades have improved a lot with just a little effort. Thanks for all the tips and knowledge in your videos
I’m 13 and in the 9th grade , i have a physics exam in a few days , this video really helped me out and your original video on absorbing textbooks that you made a couple years back surely played a huge role on my A+ , thank you for this video sir i’ll be sure to implement it and see how it goes.
Hello rozo. I'm so happy to have you join us here. Especially since you've still got a number of years left in school. I cover a ton of different and powerful strategies for students of all ages on my channel. I've even created some custom music that you can check out on my playlist: Best Study Music
Great video. One major component of learning is having a deep curiosity about the topic. If you can get genuinely curious about it, learning is natural.
I have a suggestion for a trick for time management which my professor told me - it's called the 888 rule which implies: 8 hours sleep 8 hours study and 8 hours for everything else apart from anything which gives stress(STUDYING DURING THIS TIME IS OPTIONAL) This rule doesn't go that deep but is quite useful for people who are unable to manage time to complete their tasks, The professor also mentioned studying 8 hours a day with focus on daily basis is more than enough to pass any exam/course,
@@aleahhand4520 well that differ from person to person. If you have quite a lot of free time each day it can be followed everyday.Changes can also made according to the person. The main aspect of this schedule is just not to get burdened by study and enjoy other aspects of life also. But I recommend to follow it every day as it creates a consistency in study and other fun activities
I applied all the strategy steps to learn this strategy and I learned and remembered easy, specially the “take a break; then study the same topic( in this case the strategy) and it worked wonders. Thanks
Great video, I’d love to add something… if you don’t like some topic or subject it means it’s difficult or not easy for you. We all like to master a topic, therefore it’s vital to go back and strive to understand the basics and the whole picture before striking the hard stuff. It will become easier and you’ll eventually master it. Let’s go back to study 🎉
I graduated college 12 years ago. I wish I had this information then. Awesome stuff! I take online courses sometimes to continue learning and will start using these techniques. Thank you so much!
i unconsciously did this same practice and the results were remarkable but when im stressed i forget to do this , thank you so much this opened my eyes
Hi there Mary-Liee. WELCOME! I'm so pleased to have you join us here. You'll see that I've published a ton of strategies and techniques that get real results. You'll even find music that helps you focus/concentrate, and also to get motivated.
Searched up your breakthrough video to remind myself of the technique I had once watched years ago, so glad you made a follow up! Changed the way I think and i am ready to make a change in the way i study, thank you!!
Great insights! Thank you. My problem is focus. I think the first suggestion I will employ is to deliberately remove distractions. And through realizing this--thank you very much--I've decided to dedicate a specific amount of time each day for my writing, as distraction free time. The second will be to ban any multi-tasking while writing and studying. Third strategy will be to take a break. Thanks Uncle Matt.
Hi Nick. Always happy to have a personal friend stop by and post a comment. Here's a video specifically on FOCUS. You may enjoy it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7s7198DbS94.html
Despite taking handwritten notes for the reasons you mentioned in this video I somehow never thought to apply them to reading text books as well. 100% gonna give that a try.
Trying to take hand written notes and talk to self is something I felt like trying to start knowing it can make me focus more on output that isn't just simply copy pasting and allows me to focus more on word by word because I have to repeat the concept myself in the hard way it is made knowing it will be important
Good afternoon Uncle Matt, In my CompTia course I'm learning network + certification. I have given myself 20 days to go over material and at the same time do some practice labs. I have returned back to getting into IT doing cybersecurity. I have worked in IT before I have previously 15 years experience working for Sun Microsystem back in the day. So the technology has changed so getting my head back into to reading study guides can be challenging especially trying to retain the information that's why looking at your videos and trying your stratigies gives me hope
I hope to implement a small bit of spaced repetition into my schedule. I will also use the textbook skimming strategy more effectively. I could talk to myself out loud a bit more. I could also implement multi-sensory perception more. I am considering using fragrances to help me study for important tests.
I'm happy to have you join us here Venkat. You are right to use these strategies because it's in the application of them that you will get the results you desire. Hope you join me on my other videos too. Like this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z1tlE0-NxtY.html
I'm impressed this video is remarkably concise and holds so much crucial information which resonates with what I did when revising. (I recently had success in my exams) As you suggest at the end, I drew great motivation by briefly imagining possible futures.
Sir actaully I have tried one way is that by using more senses I mean sense organ you can double increase your learning and its soo true all your strategies were amazing and these strategies I have read in chunks in many kinds of article but am not sure about that but after your video am surely sure they will gonna work and I will implement too
I am trying to figure out how to apply this to physical classes, dance, martial arts etc. I have a heck of a time recalling the moves once I get home, and before you know it, I have invented new forms which are totally wrong. Is there some method for learning classes of this nature?
Good technique for learning and observing lot of information in short time. I have listened this lecture and your last lecture how to study better. It helps me a lot to learn how to activate my learning process. Thanks
Catarina, you GOT IT! That is a very good thing to do. I'll bet you have been getting good results by doing that. Hope to see you joining me on my other videos too.
@@catarinaf3261 I am very happy to be of service to you. Thanks for this note. Hope you help spead the good word about what we're doing here on my channel.
Wow, so much valuable info in this video! With longer videos, it can be hard to retain everything.Anyone know of any AI tools that summarize key points from RU-vid videos?
Hi uncle Matt I have a question. Can I study completely different subjects after eachother? For example, I just studied a chapter of Chemistry and now I wanna study a chapter of Literature and then a chapter of Biology. Will it affect my learning quality?
Yes. In fact it's a VERY good idea to do that. It helps create new neural pathways that are interconnected. It also stops you from getting bored with studying the same thing for too long.
WOW! Well done Uncle Matt! This video is rapid fire and loaded with wisdom! I will have to watch it a few more times and take hand written notes in my journal, and then share with Ellis. 😊 Reply
Hello William. Did you suffer a TBI? That is essentially a physical problem and a medical issue, rather than a psychological one. Depending on the severity of the injury, some techniques can work, while others will not.
So for spaced repetition techniques which is better suppose you learned a subtopic in 1 day and revise at regular interval with subtopic of that current day OR you learned a chapter in 1day and learned the whole chapter regularly (After a span of 2 week I tend to keep forgetting what I learned) Your insights would be helpful
Thank you, Matt, for the compelling and helpful information as I embark on an important and complicated certification course. I will be using all of your pillars and strategies, some of which are my normal study methods, and some of which will be added that will help improve my study habits with your suggestions.
@@mr.dingleberry4882i indeed forgot 🥲, i watched this back when i had a physics exam, im usually bad at physics and get around 50-60% but then i got 84%, but overall, i did an average job in final and mid exams, my final score was 72%
@@TrashallAllsites OK, for definitions that's a function of memorizing new vocabulary. Here's a video specifically on that topic. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RUsUgDNtPmA.html You may also find the information in this video to be helpful: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-teD3gEGqwq8.html
Hi Kompella. Thanks for commenting on a couple of my videos. Here's the reply I sent you on another video but I want to make sure you see it. This is part 1 of a 2 part series of memory techniques using medical examples. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tLOzMBvLFoE.html
I just want to be able to retain the details in newspaper articles. I can remember the gist, but I can’t later relay facts in conversation with people. So I look really uninformed. I need an easy every day method because I’m not a student.
And sir one more thing can you make one video of how to revise whole physics and chemistry and biology syallbus in just 2 months cause on 5 may I have my medical entrance exam plzzz plzzzz sir tell me any kind of strategy
I have learning modules in my work phone. You cannot go to the next chapter with completing the first. Any learning recommendations for this kind of situation? I'm also in the same predicament for a digital real estate course I purchased.
Amd the thing is I have already asked many people of how to revise anything quickly or how to revise whole book but they are unable to tell soo sir plzzzzzzx helpp meee I really need your advice cause am soo sure u know the best of way of revising 🥺🥺🥺sir plzzz help me just last time
Hi Sarah. Thank you for joining me during the premiere. You are the very first one to leave a comment on this new video. Your teacher may have a good point there. Right before the exam is not the time to be attempting to input new info, but rather reflecting on and recalling what you've already studied.
