Having known two people with heart defects who initially went years undetected this thoroughly fascinated me. Both had holes in a part of their heart but one mimicked exercise induced asthma in childhood thus they weren’t properly diagnosed and treated until adulthood and the other one unfortunately had their diagnosis in adulthood too late after most of the years of damage was already done and eventually succumbed to the dementia they developed as a result of all of the TIA’s from their heart throwing clots into their brain (very sad slow process to watch happen to them).

Dr Gill my question is, would there be any benefit in also checking the pulse in the left side of the neck (by making the patient turn their head to the right), as well as the other way around as in your video? I recently had an irregular jumping pulse in the left side of my neck for nearly 4 days after my 2nd Pfizer vaccine and I wondered what this could mean? My overall pulse and blood pressure were fine, but the neck vein was jumping violently but irregularly I.e. Maybe once every 30 seconds, then once every 2 minutes, then twice in 30 seconds etc (random). I was also extremely tired during this time too. The pulse problem has now gone but it’s a mystery I’m interested in…

My father is 70, and has anemia, so he tends to get concerned with his heart rate alot. He walks a certain number of miles a day (he used to run marathons) and after walking, or doing other activities, his heart rate hits mid to upper 90's. Some literature i;ve seen puts this at the top of the normal range at rest and I explain this to him, but it feels like since he's a former marathon runner, he can't stop himself from thinking this is "really bad" in terms of heart rate. Also, when he's truly at rest, he hits even lower. so who knows.Heck, it might be the anxiety and constant worrying causing the spike. Anyway, thanks for the video!
