HOW TO ACTUALLY MOISTURIZE NATURAL HAIR (dry, brittle, and rough)

Here's an easy routine that you can use in order to moisturize your dry natural hair.

HERE'S THE REGIMEN (feel free to tweak as you learn more about your hair!) :
1. Deep Condition once a week
2. Use Leave-In conditioner before you twist, braid, or do any style including a wash and go
3. Wash with shampoo and conditioner as often as needed (you'll know you need it when you have an itchy scalp, you have product buildup, or your products "stop" working like they used to! - products work best on clean hair)

4. On top of that you can use whatever styler you want. In my eyes, these are optional unless you want curls that pop harder than you at the club 👀

Uhhh it really depends on what you consider “cheap”. I use the deep conditioner all the time and it costs me like $25 at Target. A pretty fair price to me for those ingredients

I have low porosity hair and I shampoo Every Week! My hair can not stand cowashing. The build up is Real for me! Best way I can put it is cowashing my hair is like showering with lotion and expecting my skin to feel clean. THEN slapping more lotion on after the shower. But tbh... I feel like all hair types should Shampoo their hair! Hence why conditioners, deep conditioners, and leave ins exist. 💁🏽‍♀️

Sis I am the same EXACT way.. I actually stunted my growth by listening to natural hair gurus that said to never shampoo in my early years of being natural. Cowashing does absolutely nothing for my hair

i only use loreal everpure cowash for curly hair. Its the only cowash that has some suds and makes my hair actually feel clean. I only cowash when ive used products w/o silicones.

Troyonna Domino I agree. The only time I co wash is when I need to redo or refresh my wash and go but my hair isn’t dirty enough to be washed with shampoo. I wash my hair every 2 weeks and co wash in between if my hair didn’t last the full 2 weeks

deep condition frequently. Use shampoo on your scalp only. Ratio of shampoo to conditioner is like 1:3 for rinse off washing. Moisturise with Aloe Vera Products to reduce the evaporation of products from your follicles and try butters more than easy slip conditioners. seal with a moisturizing oil such as Olive/coconut/grapeseed/peppermint oil. Hydrate hair with pure water or water solution spray 2x a day. Use a silk/satin bonnet or pillowcase. If it's high porosity hair, stretching it constantly drys it out more so incorporate shrinkage hairstyles ever so often so your hair can chill. I wash mine on Sundays and midweek I remoisturise using LOC/LCO method. Saturday I prepoo overnight with an oil to protect from the shampoo or deep condition. I'm no expert but this is how I helped my hair stay hydrated.
