I like the addition of the cord. I've used another approach to securing the piece to the canvas. Depending on the size I put a single stitch through the canvas and piece in a concealed spot tying two ends of the embroidery floss on the back. Usually one stitch in each corner; perhaps one mid-way if it's larger. The one I recently finished is 12 x 16 so it needed a couple of additional stitches. I also covered the back with brown paper and added screw eyes and wire.
