A couple years ago, I brought to market the Original CenterBurner simulated afterburner system being one of the first of its type to become available. Well, through the years, I've made a number of improvements to the system and have been in need of an installation video for quite some time. So, in this video, I talk through the Original CenterBurner full line of products (MiniBurner, CenterBurner, and MultiBurner) and show how to install them and set them up on your radio. I just got one for the Habu SS and it is great!!! I would recommend to add some aluminium tape or paint in the back of the fuselage of the Habu, otherwise the whole back of the plane will light up. Thanks again Chris for a wonderful product!

Just saw Top Gun: Maverick yesterday! Now I have a need for speed and also maybe for a Freewing F-14!! When I get that, I will for sure get 2x centerburners!

@@Thercgeek Believe it or not, it’s better than the first. My main problem with the original was that it didn’t have as much flying as I would have liked, but the new one has more! Oh, and Maverick’s custom scheme just might make it onto an RC model one day!

Hey Chris,great video! I am still hoping to fly again one day,and am getting ready to do a refinish on my nib E-Flite F-4.I hope to put a multiburner in it as well as the new paint and Callie graphics,so one of these days I will be contacting you.Hope all is well with you and your family!

Love the 'flicker' on start up. Would like to see more of the 'flicker' at full throttle. Is that possible?

Thanks! This current iteration uses a third party controller, but I will look into that. I’m actually working on my own controller design, so definitely can customize it more there.

Is there a voltage cutoff built into the control when powered by the separate 2S battery so it doesn't over discharge that battery?

There is not, no. The current draw is really low, so the likelyhood of that happening is small unless you don’t ever charge the pack. I can get multiple outings on a single charge and only use maybe 40% of the capacity in the process.

Hi mr geek i installed your burners on my twin 70mm freewing su35 and i had to add 7 ozs of weight to get the jet to balance at the CG in the manual! Is 7ozs too much weight to add?

It’s not uncommon to have to ballast accordingly to get the cg location. However, in this case it sounds like it could use a larger flight battery instead. What capacity flight pack are you using?

Funny you just post this and i received mine yesterday lol....but do everyone and yourself a favor...include a Y harnesses in the package please... Or a pass through on the control board would be AMAZING!

What do you mean by a pass through on the control board? I’m actually working on a new controller ground up design currently.

@@Thercgeek a place to eliminate a y harness...these eflite jets pretty much use up all the channels to dedicate one to center burner...we dont wanna buy a 10 channel receiver to do flaperons...and a centerburner so a feed through for your esc would be great so when we recieve the product we can use it right away...instead of ordering a y harness and wait for that....so a built in y harness would set your product above the rest chris....keep that awesome product comin!!

Never any issues with the 3D printed cone melting or warping from the heat of the motor?

Haven’t experienced any type of those issues. I use PETG which helps with the thermal properties.

Will this work on the E Flite Viper 90 BNF? Has smart avian esc and ar637t receiver. Dont think it will have an open port

Yes, I’ve release a V2 that is compatible with the smart telemetry which will allow you to connect it via a yharness on the throttle. 😊. The correct version is my 36mm inrunner design: www.thercgeek.com/product/90mm-CenterBurner-V2-Single

So if I put this on a y to a spectrum receiver I won’t get safe and as3x? Or is it just the esc telemetry

Putting this on a y when smart is active only impacts operation of the burner and nothing else. The communication type changes from pwm to srxl2 when Smart is operating which the burner controller doesn’t know how to interpret. Therefore, setting the burner to a separate channel alleviates that and provides a pwm signal for the controller. I am working on my own controller design that will be compatible with srxl2 and have a few more features. Unfortunately due to the chip shortage, I’m not sure when that will come to market.

@@Thercgeek I just installed these and they look awesome! I have two questions. 1, I bought a 2cell 300ma battery. Is 300ma going to be okay for a 3 minute flight? I have no clue what kind of current these draw. and 2, the 3d printed plastic split on several of the set screw when tightening up the grub screws. I didn't crank on them hard either. Actually, one split when just starting the grub screw. They seem to be holding but with the split plastic I am a bit concerned, do you recommend adding some adhesive in addition to the screws? Thanks!

Unfortunately I don’t. It’s such a small size, it would require a completely different design to accomplish and I haven’t really looked into it.

Hi. I just ordered the afterburner for my Viper 90 and notice that my receiver only has 6channel and they all are taken up with flaps, gear etc. Question, How do I connect the burner to my receiver because I do have the NX8 Transmitter with telemetry? I don't have an available channel

Unfortunately because of the smart telemetry, the burner needs to be setup on a separate channel. This is due to the srxl2 communication type that is used that the controller doesn’t know how to interpret. That means a higher count receiver would be needed for the viper. There is a workaround that would allow you to use the 6ch receiver, but it nukes the telemetry. Basically, you can change the channel assignment of the throttle to a different channel, but that means no telemetry data.

So, in the channel assignment menu, assign throttle to channel 2 and aileron to channel 1 and then swap those connectors and try that. I recommend testing ailerons first after the swap just to make sure it took correctly before trying the throttle.

I ship to Australia and the usps has resumed service there again for a little while. There was a website bug that was literally just fixed that was rejecting some international addresses.
