I never fail to wobble along on the back side when I sew on a binding. I started using a zig zag or decorative stitch so it is not so obvious. I am just glad to know it is not just me who gets some wobbles on and off the binding in the back.
Im just starting to get into quilting and learned from a friend there are no "quilt police", so whatever works best for you is right. Thanks for this tutorial - just subscribed for more helpful tips. Love the fabrics.
This is what I do as well, but with a few differences which were making me laugh. Everyone has their own way of doing things! I used to always hand bind…..not anymore! Thank you!
Thank you for joining us!!!!! It is incredible how many different ways there are to do things! I love to share what works for me as it may help someone else!
Great video tutorial!!! Loved the way you showed the joining of the ends and for some reason it seemed easier than before when Ive done it. Thanks again!
Glad it was helpful! Sometimes (at least for me) it takes a few times of seeing something to get it -- or I'm in a better mood and just "get it" more easily. Who knows, as long as it helps you. Just shout if I need to review it in the future! :D
I enjoyed watching your binding tutorial! Thanks for showing another way to use two-sided tape! Lastly love your creativity of using pink binding with the black and white material!
It is in my shop, but we are currently sold out. If you hit the notify me button my system will email you when it's back. sewhungryhippie.com/products/alexander-henry-sofia-heavy-oxford-1-2-yd-preorder
Do you or anyone know how to attach a binding to an inside cut rather than outside curve? I have tried by cutting little slits at the corner but still lots of bulk and messy looking. thanks
Yes! I like to use Wrights pre made binding for curves like that, because first I iron it into shape-- training it to bend along the curve. If you're using binding cut on the bias, you don't need to clip or cut notches anywhere. Then I attach it just like this video. I will show this on a future live, thank you for asking .
Yes - if hand stitching the binding down, you would attach it to the front first and wrap to the back, then hand stitch it down to the back--but I'm using all machine so it is sort of backwards if you're used to hand stitch method. If you're talking about the double-fold version, sew the wider edge to the fabric first then wrap to the front. Thank you Harriet 🥰
