A really useful tool for removing vinyl, especially complex patterns, without damaging the glass is a "plastic razor blade scraper." Sounds strange, but it's great for this--it's exactly like a normal razor blade scraper except the blades are hard plastic. You can work them under the vinyl but they won't scratch the glass or damage mirror backing.

Thanks Evan! I do use them for scraping glass. Not sure why I've never thought to use them for more processes :)

Very nice Paul! Would you back that up with paint or just use a dark background sheet for display? Thanks for sharing!
@happygilder

Cheers Chip! Personally I would have a separate background (card or another piece of glass) and have them 5mm apart so that the design casts a shadow on the background

Very cool. Do you get different effects if you put a backing behind it, or silver it?

Hi Paul. I only found you last week by happy accident and since then I havent stopped watching your vids. I think your work is incredible and how you explain things is fantastic and has inspired me to try and make something myself so thank you for that! I can’t quite get my head around how you print out your design and the shapes are already cut for you to pick out. Is it a certain printer and how would I do it at home? Thanks again mate keep up the great work 👍

It’s great to hear that you’re going to give it a shot, and thanks for the kind words! I use a vinyl cutter to make the stencils. If I remember correctly, my very first video covers the process and there’s also this video about the basic tools needed: Mirror making tools. Brill, thanks for that. I bought 4 of your vectors off Etsy last night then realised I probably can’t use them without the printer 😂 but maybe I can get a sign writing shop to do it for me or something, anyway thanks again 👌
