You never empty the can of freon unless it actually needs it all. You only fill until the gauge is in the green. Don't try and get to the upper part of the green just in the middle or slightly below is fine. If you overcharge the vehicle (add too much freon) you could cause a lot of damage besides your air not working. Have the car running with air on cold and full blast recirculation mode. Open the doors. Shake the can of freon well. Hook up the freon to the Low port read the gauge. If the needle is in the green you likely have other issues. If Freon is low while holding the can upright squeeze the trigger in 10-15sec bursts while shaking the can up and down. After letting go of the trigger read the gauge. Rinse and repeat until you're in the green.
I have the same car same year with the same problem but my compressor isn’t going continuously it goes on and off but my compressor hasn’t been charged in 9yrs
I don’t understand the gauge thing 😭. My AC isn’t bad all the time but it’s often not blowing cold anymore. Can you put too much refrigerant in? That’s what makes me nervous about doing it myself…it can’t be completely empty because it still blows cold sometimes, other times not very cold. So how do I know when to stop on the gauge?
