would you kindly teach us how to work with notating rhythms without the treble clef staff, just the tab? One of the main concerns in whole notes and half notes. Thanks!

@@newtonlkh I better ask first if you understand how rhythmic sub-divisions work, i.e. the difference between whole notes, half notes, quarter notes, eighth notes etc?
@newtonlkh
@newtonlkh 11 месяцев назад
@@yourguitarscore4601 I consider myself to be understanding them. the problem I face with writing tabs with rhythms, is that many software (like sibelius), just replace the notehead with fret numbers, and leave whole notes with no stem, and half note with it's stem (indistinguisable from quarter note), in guitar pro, a circle around the notes could be added (optionally) to show "hollow noteheads". Sometimes I feel that the "standard score" was added just to show the rhythm, because it's much clearer (especially with inner voice, different parts) than the rhythms notated in the tab. But it's a shame because some music, especially in alternate tuning, TAB is the much better way to read the notes. I know I am biased here, because I am much more proficient with tab than "standard notation" in this respect. Thanks again for taking so much thought into my litte question

@@newtonlkh OK, thanks for elaborating-that makes sense now. The TABS on Musescore can have stems to show whether its a half note, quarter note etc. , but you can have them without too, if you like. So I'll do a video on that as soon as I can.

@@fabiooliveiramusic I haven't done a vid on that yet, simply because Musescore 4 leaves a lot to be desired in that department. Unfortunately, it's still missing a lot of functionality.

One thing I'm having trouble with is adding a percussive string tap on the thickest string. I'm working on a piece where I lightly tap the thickest string with my thumb so it hits off the frets. It happens in between the bass notes and melody line, and just helps to rhythmically drive the piece along. It's not quite a muted note exactly, as it sounds more like a hi-hat being tapped. I'm just not quite sure how to indicate this on the score/tab, and I'd also like to have a similar sound play in musescore while I'm working on the tab, if possible.

I'll try to do a video on that soon. I know I've done percussive string slaps in Musescore before, I just have to remember how to do it now 😁

Hi! Thanks! How did you make the last 'strum' arrow (last measure)?
@yourguitarscore4601
@yourguitarscore4601 Год назад
Hi, you just click on any note of the chord that you want to add the arrow to so that it's highlighted, then you go to the left sidebar where it says 'arpeggios & glissandi' and select the arrow you want.

Have you tried hammer ons and pull offs with the new musesounds guitars? Would you be interested in collaborating on a video or two showing what is possible with the new guitar libraries?

Howzit David (and having checkd out your channel, I know you understand the word 'howzit' :-))😁. I have tried the new musesounds to a degree-it is soooo much better. Super impressed with what they've managed to pull off there. I'm sincerely flatterd that you'd want to do a collab with me. Right now though, I am about to embark on a non-music-related project that is going to demand quite a bit of my time and energy, which means that this channel is going to be on the back burner, apart from a few quick vids here and there as / when I have time, so I'm going to have to decline, unfortunately. If anything changes though, I'll give you a shout! Subscribed to your channel, all the best for the new year!
