In this video I store image directly inside Flow. There are a few videos on RU-vid that show you how to add image to Power Automate e-mail, but all of them ask you to upload your image to SharePoint, OneDrive or some other storage. Let me know what you think 🙂

Thank you for the video Ali ! I use power automate on my work laptop where I share a lot of images on the body of the email. I have the images saved in one drive and I have successfully been able to send it via power automate. Just a small difficulty that I face, I don’t know how to centre align the image. All the images I have been able to send are left aligned. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do.

Very useful sir, thanks! I was wondering if the encoding process (jpg>txt) could be added to the flow? This way, no matter the picture you are targetting on a SP library or Onedrive, the flow would do the job for you. If you can encode a targetted file, then the variable you are using in the email would be the string coming from this embed encoding process.
@AlirezaAliabadi
@AlirezaAliabadi 2 года назад
When you use "get file content" or "Get Attachment" actions, the content that you get is already encoded string. So that is much easier than what we did. I didn't go there because there are a few good videos on RU-vid that explain that approach.

@@AlirezaAliabadi Indeed! However, is there still another way if you have an image that's not stored in SharePoint or OneDrive but still in MS 365 somewhere? For instance the thumbnails SharePoint creates for an image field? They are typically not stored in any location but generated. Want to be able to encode those.

Hi Alireza, great info. Just sharing some of my experience with constructing email with Powerautomate Email and images are so tricky. The base64 encoded image options never worked for me with outlook desktop. Works fine with outlook for the web and other web. Asked email clients such as gmail. Hoping Microsoft work this out with the new outlook one they are working on to get it to web standards. Only reliable way I have found is hosting the images in a publicly available site like the company internet site. As for the emailV2 action it has so many bugs in it. What I ended up doing was constructing the html with a free online editor. Then dropping it into a compose action. Which can be useful for repetitive sections of emails like signature, legal disclaimers and image branding. The output I just drop into the send email V2 action. It just works that way no strange issues when that action switches between its rich text editor and html mode. One of the worst parts about this is that you cannot just create a signature or template in outlook online and have Powerautomate use that every time when sending you emails. That would be so much easier. Thanks again.
@AlirezaAliabadi
@AlirezaAliabadi 2 года назад
I am sure you noticed I never switched out of code view in email body 😉 The text editor has lots of issues in Power Automate UI, but I noticed we can minimize the issues by putting HTML elements in variables and minimizing the complexity of tags in the email body. To be honest, I tried to shy away from Send an email (V2) bugs and workarounds. That can be a separate video by itself and I should probably do that. Typically Microsoft reacts quickly when we public shame their imperfections in a RU-vid video 🤣 I have one of those for next week, but not on sending e-mail.

@@mkavo only way I could do it was host the images on the internet. Then link to them from there. That works in all. You still have to press the download button to view them in the desktop client but it works.. Eventually the outlook desktop client will be replaced with a web compatible one. Called outlook One It is a work in progress. Though I wouldn't expect to see it being mainstream for a few years. As the current version of it has numerous limitations. Though it is only on preview.

@@Worrelpa One way I tried was have the image in Site Assets folder in the SharePoint site and use Get file action, then Compose with a dataUri function then put this in Concat() in a variable to put in the email! , Doesn't work !! Am i using the right functions?!

@Gustavo-uc9rr
@Gustavo-uc9rr Год назад
Hi Jenny, it depends on how you wanna trigger this flow. Is it triggered everytime someone uploads an image? If your answer is yes, you can easily use Sharepoint "Get Item" action so it will allow you to dinamically insert the base64 encoded image into the html img tag since this action will provide you with a dynamic variable containing the image content.

Hi Alireza, thank you so much for the explanation.. The only problem in the way you add image to the email body is that it doesn't work for Gmail recipients, it works fine for those receivers who use outlook (web or appp) but if I need to send an e-mail to some Gmail user it doesn't. I'd appreciate if you gimme some hint on how to send an email message containing an image in the body (without storing it on Sharepoint 'cause my organization's Sharepoint is private). Thanks again!

Thanks for the video. Unfortunately, Gmail and some other web-based email clients don't like base64-encoded images, so those don't display in emails. Currently investigating a solution in which the image file is attached to the email and then embedded from the attachment, which according to many would circumvent that problem. Power Automate doesn't make this easy!
