How to Add LED Lights to Your Cigar Cooler Wineador

Newair - Whynter - any cigar cooler/wineador. This is by far the easiest way I have found to install LED lights in your cigar cooler. It only takes a few minutes of your time and less than $10.

Dude thanks for the video! I actually took your advice and tucked the wires under the seal, and it worked like a charm. I also checked for leaks with the light on the phone, and you’re a genius! No lights, air escaping, and the lights look great.

Thanks for the video, I just bought a Needone 48L and you can't see anything through the glass door. I have to use a flashlight to see the gauges. I think the LED lights are going to do the trick.

Dipe ass little project. I have an old school newair and a bodega model, and Im gonna get right into it with these lights. It's a PITA to use a flashlight to glance at my hygros all the time.

Did you consider wiring the LED lights into the dome light that's build into the humidor? Was that something that looked like it could work?

I had considered it, but the amount of effort for a nearly identical outcome made me choose this route. Plus, if the lights ever went bad, it would have to be taken apart and unsoldered to remove. Going this route its a simple removal and installation of new lights.

@@nickdogg1993 Cool. I just bought one of these table-top cigar coolers for my Man Cave. I ordered LED lights to do this same project. Does the IR receiver for the remote get in the way of hiding the wires next to, or behind the cooler? BTY! Your project looks amazing. The company should include this in their product as a standard feature.

@@gregpruitt1647 not at all. The sensor is underneath the cooler so you just have to aim the remote at that lower area of the cooler. If you aim it high sometimes it wont recognize the signal. But I rarely have any issues with it.

You route the cable underneath the cigar cooler, and then you can just plug it into a phone charger block since its USB powered! Super convenient.

What about the smell? Does this adhesive leave any smell inside the cooler humidor? Thanks for this great idea.

Honestly, the adhesive does not give off any smell that I ever noticed. Even if it did, I doubt it would be enough to absorb into the cigars with all the cedar wood and air circulation in the cooler.

Hi, like your video ,could you run the wire through the Drainplug in the back?

Hey thank you! I would not recommend routing through the drainplug because it could cause excess water to collect and not drain properly. This could cause mold, humidity spikes, etc... doing it the way it is in the video has been the best way for me!

Did you replace the analog hygrometer with digital ones? If so could you tell what brand they are?

Yes I did. I bought the round digital hygrometers on Amazon. Very cheap. The ones I bought are no longer available but they have several identical ones from different "brands".

Do you know the voltage coming from the built in light? Wondering if it’s possible to run the LED lights from the built in power?

I dont know the voltage, but I assume it would be much higher than required for these LED lights. The built in leds have a power board, so they are probably rated off 110v with resistors to bring it down. Im not an electrician, but this would be my guess.

If.you don't need the whole.6.5 ft of led lights can you cut down to what you need?

You can cut down an much or littke as you need. I used like 5ft of cable and cut off a foot or so. There are cut lines printed on the cable indicating where they are safe to cut.

Will this work for the Audew 150 capacity cigar cooler also?

Havent had any experience with that. But most cigar coolers follow the same design since theyre technically wine coolers. So it should work no problem.

Hey, does keeping infused cigars like the Javas you have an affect on anything like flavor in your non infused cigars? I've been thinking about getting a coolidor like this and I've always kept acids and javas separate from everything non flavored. Would be nice if I could put everything in a single temperature controlled place.

I dont typically do infused cigars, so I am not the best person to answer that question. However, from what I have read it is always a good idea to separate the infused cigars since they can make all your cigars taste infused.

Is this a cigar humidor cooler or a wineador conversion?

It is a cigar humidor. Its sold and marketed for cigars only. Its basically a wine fridge that had the metal racks replaced with cedar drawers and shelves. Works fantastic.

@@nickdogg1993 thanks... I asked because I converted a wineador, but I don't plug it in because it tries to keep the humidity around 65% I believe. That's not terrible but I guess I should need to change over to 65% boveda instead of 72%

@@frankwhite7006 65% is actually perfect. Thats what I set mine to all the time now. 70% was too high and it was causing burn issues. Once I switched to 65% burn issues improved 1000%.
