Hey everyone. This video was recorded and edited before all the drama surrounding Unity. I'm not happy with the new announcement either. However, I love Unity as a product, and I genuinely hope that things will get better. ❤❤ Also, this my first attempt at making a tutorial. I'm not sure how well it turned out, but I hope some of you will find it helpful. 😊
things will likely not get better, PC is not even close to being their biggest income already, so they're mostly targeting mobile games anyway. i'd think of swapping engines before it's too late
Disgree with people saying you are wrong. I can tell you "vibe" really well with unity just like I do, seems like you use it well. Luckily I'm 99% sure the unity employees are currently pushing for the right fixes and it might a very good outcome after all for both unity and us. Please don't feel preassured to quit unity, any engine, any platform, even something like youtube can fuck you over. This is not about trust but knowing the potential of the tools, unity is great. It's pretty toxic for people to suggest just swap engine, its not even the solution and its costly...
@@partlyawesome It's true that things are looking rough now, and it might just be the end for Unity, which could mean a new beginning for Hooked. But I'll wait and see, I don't want to make decisions out of anger or disappointment towards Unity. At the end of the day, it's all about what's best for Hooked.
I feel like a weekly or even daily dev log would be nice to build community. Even if there are not changes some sort of communication through discord or something would be nice. Screenshots or gifs even would be cool. Love your work and cant wait to play it!
Just found your devlogs by accident. I love the feel your game is selling, I hope you're enjoying yourself during the development process as I know it can feel daunting for everyone, beginner or not. I hope you keep working on it and goodluck with the game. I already wishlisted it too!
I watched the first dev log a year ago, and I forgot your channel's name, found it again by accident recently, and I'm really glad you're still enjoying and making the game, I wish you good luck :D
Thank you so much for your kind words! 😊 I'm really glad you're enjoying the devlogs. Your support means a lot, and I'll definitely take the time needed to make it the best it can be!
I was looking exactly for a tutorial for isometric pixel effects and thanks for such a good one! I was even a bit disappointed you don't have other tutorials. But anyway, your game is definitely on my wishlist rn :)
Hey! I'm really glad that the tutorial has been useful for you! I'll be making more in the future, though since my audience is mostly gamers, not developers, they won't be super frequent. But given the positive response to this one, I'm definitely considering creating another one down the road. Thanks a lot for your support and for wishlisting Hooked too! Much appreciated!

Hello! I'm happy to have found you. You make really quality content. Hope everything is fine and that we'll be able to see more updates soon. Take care and keep on being amazing! :)
Heyy! Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm really glad you enjoy the content! Everything is going well, and I'm currently working on some exciting updates that I'll be sharing as soon as they're ready.
Hey! Thanks for the suggestion. I'm currently working on a major game update, including an upgrade to the day-night cycle 😊. I'm focused on finalizing everything so I can put together a new devlog. But, I've noted your idea and plan to create a tutorial for it in the future! I might also share the day-night cycle code on my Patreon if you're interested and want early access.
Please make the game have split screen couch CO-OP and on playstation and i'm hooked.... :P Not a lot of such games for couples that wants to play together on big tv...
Hey there! I know I've been a bit quiet lately, but that's because I've been busy working on a major update for the game. It's taking a bit of time because I want to roll out a demo at the same time as the next devlog. Can't give an exact date just yet, but what I can say is that I am fully committed to this game and I can't wait to showcase what I'm working on.
I think it looks good but you’re focusing on a lot of things that really should come later if you’re serious. I’m sure it’s best for RU-vid to have art and rain and stuff but getting the core code and game functions should be first priority. If the hook of the game is fishing I’d be working on that system before creating maps and weather and things. Also you need to be careful not to outright copy stardew. I’m sure he won’t sue you or anything but I would focus more on the fishing and less on having all the same features he had.
Unity is over. Even if they 100% U-turn on their stupid decision, no sane developer would dare to touch Unity again. No sane developer would risk years of development just for Unity to pull some bullshits again on its payment model in the future. Please support Godot's free open-source model. Blender is the proof that free open-source model DOES work, as Blender (with the help of the community) nowadays rival fully funded proprietary modelling software like 3DS Max. Please contribute your skills and knowledge to improve Godot to attract as many ex-Unity developers as possible to make Unity obsolete and to make it disappeared on the face of the Internet altogether.
