Thanks. Probably the best Warden 13 adjustment video available. Very helpful for adjusting my bindings last year for a drop in boot size and a nice refresher for adjusting toe height on some new Warden 11 MNC's on my wife's new Captis Birdies. Really well done.
After adjusting the binding so the boot fits properly the next recommended by all alpine binding manufacturers is to Release check the boot and binding system. These steps are outlined in their binding technical manual. Every DIN chart that provides the proper release setting based on skier hight, weight, age, boot sole length and skier type provides releases value ranges for twist at the toe and upward release at the heel. It is important to examine the boot sole for wear and damage. Check that the binding and boot sole are compatible. The Warden is Multi Norm Compatible. The release check uses a torque measurement device to find of the binding and boot are releasing within the range for the DIN number that you set the spring. This process and the manufacturer recommended testing would make a great video.
2:18 DIN setting of 8.5 (release pressure) is for advanced or heavy skiers. Be sure to check the Salomon DIN chart for your weight and ability level. Too high is bad as is too low. There is a sweet spot for each individual skier. DIN values can vary between 3 (beginners) and 11/13 (racers)
@William Baird, With bindings its always smart to get things checked by a shop technician to make sure you are safe. Really the answer will depend on the boot sole length of each. Typically the difference between 27.5 and 29.5 would be 20mm but it's possible for it to be closer to 30mm. There is a chance that the binding will have to be remounted but can't be sure until we try.
On the demo version, the toe and the heel slide on independent tracks and you need to line up the numbers with your boot sole length. The toe height adjustment is the same on the demo and non-demo. The forward pressure on the demo version is a pin indicator and you want that pin to be as close to the middle of the range as possible when the boot is engaged.
It’s possible you have a set of Warden 11 bindings then. If you read off the maximum release value on each toe and heel and it says 11 then that is likely your issue. Go see a shop technician if you are having issues or hit up support@theskimonster.com if you need help
Teaching 101 - You should not assume your audience has your technical knowledge. Do not use abbreviations without first defining them. AFD... DIN... mean what? Or do you even know? . What do you do if you encounter a scenario where the boot is too long to fit into the binding? This is not that uncommon when setting up adult beginners.
