Cheers for the video. Some manuals say leave the amp on to warm up and stabilise another 30 minutes after you've done the first measurements and then test again, after which you should see the initial readings have gone up to another recommended measurement given in the manual, say from 2.5mv up to 6.5mv after 30 mins. I've done this on an amp but the measurements have not gone up much after 30 mins, maybe to 3.5mv. Is this something to worry about?
This is true, most service manuals do say 20 mins or so to let all the components warm up. In this case the manaul says more than 3 mins, I did leave around 5 mins or so and did adjustment then left it for around another 5 or so and it stayed withing 0.1 millivolt so pretty good. On your 3.5 mv after 30 mins If it was for this amp I then would re adjust back to 7mv.
Hi Michael, thanks again. Hope you can help. Complete novice trying to fix a Rotel 820 AX, no relay on this model. Changed most caps. One problem resolved, which was power off, left channel bump on woofer. Problem that remains is both channels 'bump' when turned on. 30mv at both speaker terminals, solders look OK, set the biases. Next step will be scattergun on resistors/transistors (my multi meter skills are on par with a drunken skunk:), unless you have any advice where to look. Cheers if any reply, much appreciated.
You will get a pop or bump on most these older amps that do not have the relay, some louder than others and also depending on speaker sensitivity. The 30mv on both speakers is not bad its ok, anything under 50mv is acceptable It can be a lot of fidling about trying to lower this and sometimes it might hardly change. If you wanted to tinker around then transistor q601 and q603 could be changed. But must be a matched pair or very closely matched so might have to buy 10 and get the closes matched up, same with q602 and q604 see how that goes, then check nearby resistors values have not changed to much and replace the very low value caps nearby. After all this you might only lower it a few millivolts. Me personally I would leave as is.
@@MichaelYates Cheers Michael, first amp I have had a go at repairing. Only reference I can find on the net suggests changing R611/12 resistors. I will change these two and take your advice and leave it there.... Thanks for taking the time.
@MichaelYates yeah , I'm finding very few results on reviews or anything online . Only 1 customer review, which was good but only on the T40. I've just purchased pre - and power t40 and t60 . 60 watts power ,40 t40 Integrated . Was going to ask about speakes really and set up for say phone for music saying " youtube " music. input .I use a two plug input to phone on my surround amp, but is there a better way, or I'm I doing it wrong. My room is 4mtr x 4 mtr high ceiling, not a clue what speakers to buy . I love the detail , sound stage , plus rock and indie, etc. I'm confused lol Sorry for all the questions.
@@itisjustacomment A little user review of the T60 here www.audioreview.com/product/amplification/amplifiers/myryad/t60.html as for speakers I use a cheap pair of Monitor Audio B2 speakers as an all rounder with grills off. Connecting from phone using 3.5mm is fine, you could get a decent Blu Tooth receiver for the amp and connect by blu tooth or a USB dac for your phone, but I think the straight connection is good enough. The T40 and T60 seem to get a good review on the little out there
