Not sure if you're still answering questions on this, but in the first part of the video you measure and state that you got .070 &.075 respectively. What are you measuring? The short shims? My son and I are working on a D-17 Series 2 that sat for 25 years. The power director slips under load on the low side. If we measured correctly we come up with .064 (high) and .033 (low) but not sure we are measuring correctly. Also judging by the blue RTV on the cover at some point someone was in there. The center "long" shims measure about .135 in thickness. Seems like a lot. Not sure how to proceed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

@@TimothyFluegel Atm I am a little confused.. Now I have a Allis I-600 with a shuttle power director clutch. (Same as yours but forward and reverse instead of H and L. ) My problem is when the main foot clutch is released the motor sounds as if its working harder even while the shuttle clutch is in the neutral position. Otherwise the clutch feels like it grabs well but because it robs the engine of power, I could not even use the tractor in gear 4 if I wanted too. I just finished the process you showed and even though some shim adjustments could be made, the shim ratio seems to be correct. (Outside shims vs center shims ratio.) If you have any insite, that would be much appreciative.

Quick update, the tractor seems to have a red looking transmission fluid in the shuttle clutch. From what I read, hydrolic fluid should be used. Is it possible the trans fluid is causing my problems?
@TimothyFluegel
@TimothyFluegel 2 года назад
@@blackmasta71 it should have hyd trans fluid in it. But in my experience no, it wouldn't make it slip if it had the wrong fluid. Are you sure it's the hand clutch, idk if you have a way to test it but if the pto slips when the clutch slips is the foot clutch.

@@blackmasta71 I acually have a 615 industrial. About the same as your I600. This is just a thought but it happened to me. Mine has a live hyd pump and the regular allis pump in the torque tube for about a week I though the engine was on its way out just lie you said couldn't use 4th and when I let the clutch out the poor thing was working hard. Come to find out the linkage for the not live pump was unhooked and my buddy Bob must have caught a branch and turned the pump on. So it was constantly working that pump.

Great video. I just purchased a 1965 allis chalmers i60 backhoe with the shuttle shift. Everything seems to work ok for now but I’m sure at some point I’ll need this video. Who do you know that can rebuild the clutch pack? Thank you

Thank you for the great informable video, I have a few questions. First, is there any oil behind that inspection plate that you have to drain? Also, I just bought my first tractor and it is a d 17 and it has some sort of clanking that sounds like its in the rear end but also I was thinking it could be the crank in the motor broke or bent, and I don't want to tear the motor down if I don't have to so do you know what that sound would be? And have you ever had it happen to one of your tractors?
@TimothyFluegel
@TimothyFluegel Год назад
Yes there is fluid being the plate as that is a wet clutch that rides in hyd Trans oil. Does your tractor run?? If it's running its not a bent or broken crank. It's really hard to diagnose a tractor with out at lest video of the nose. Of you could post on an Allis forum on Facebook and tag me in it I would be more helpful for sure. If you don't tag me in the post I won't respond I can't stand the know-it-alls on the forum ¾ of them have no clue and just seem to want to argue with people.

Tim, we have a D 17 series 4. The tractor wants to creep when the power director is in neutral. What can we do about it? Thanks.
@TimothyFluegel
@TimothyFluegel Год назад
What kind of oil are you using? Alot of times it can be solved by putting fresh hydraulic Trans oil in. But only if the oil that is in it is too thick or old and sticky. If that's the case. After you drain the old oil out full the rear end with diesel fuel and take it for a drive down the driveway and back and drain it out put fresh in and your good to go. If your oil seems good then it's adjustments in the clutch or a warped clutch plate. It's Ajay worth double checking clearance on your foot clutch orcpossibly a warn disc there, I've seen that being the problem too.

As far as I know yes, I have a 615 industrial. I have only read into the shuttle clutch a little bit, but it seems to be the same, just with a reverse gear instead of low.

The good news is the tractor came with a shop mechanic Manuel that gives all the break down on it. Pluss all the D series tractors .

When you do the measurement and the power Director low side there is no difference between engaged and disengaged what should you do high side there is a difference 025
@TimothyFluegel

Start with. 025 out of the low side into the middle and check again. Just Keep adjusting
