This should work on the 02-07 Honda cr250r motor with the electronic powervalve / rc valve. I adjusted mine the way the owners manual said and It was cutting out in the top end, found this in a forum and it's been running great ever since. Nobody has a video on RU-vid yet and it's a commonly ask question amongst last gen cr250 owners. So here ya go. Leave feedback in the comments. I'm no professional so take what I say with a grain of salt. Not saying this is the correct way but it made my bike run fantastic. Cheers. I will be remaking this video alot better in then near future.

Props to you for figuring this out, was chasing power valve adjustment issues for a long time until I saw this. Bike absolutely rips now with this adjustment!!

BTW Bronson, To followup: I tried that method and it was a little bit off. But then I adjusted it using another method: I counted 7 threads and locked the nut there (your video also shows 7 threads) and it's spot on.

Look at the system guys. It’s just like the manual says, the servo and left adjuster with the SPRING/seat take care of the overall tension of the inner cable on both sides. It’s very likely that the servo finds its center/neutral and closed throttle starting position every time the bike is started. Make sure your cable attachments at the servo ar at 12.ish o clock, and do the right side as called for in the manual, then the left. You don’t want excessive adjusted tension on the inner cables. They are a set length and part of what makes this work. Make sure the spring adjuster and it’s ability to cushion the tension is correct. It’s like an automatic cable tensioner for the system, but you don’t want to be putting the cables too much “into the tension” of the spring either. The HRC method shown elsewhere seemingly does have the benefit of making sure the valve doesn’t overtravel, but I’m not sure. Somewhere between the two adjusters, the cable slack needs to be taken up, and a little tension keeps on the whole thing by the spring.

Good video but what if I don’t want it to hit as hard in the woods like adjusting the spring in a ktm

Wish mine was working. Something is wrong where it won’t even operate. For sure going to adjust it like this when I get it working.

setthe_hook_fishing pretty sure the servo going out is common.

Is 12mm per the Honda Shop Manual spec?

Great vid bro! I have adjusted my cable on a CR125r 2004 correctly and everything works a performs great but for some reason my bike keeps fouling spark plugs and makes this noise from the top end that sounds like something is rubbing or like a washer machine do u have any idea what this might be?
@bronson3150
@bronson3150 6 лет назад
I know the honda motors are notoriously noisy they just make strange noises. Your piston could be worn and sloppy, your crank bearings could be bad causing slop, it could be the pipe vibrating against something, it might just be a loose bolt. Whens the last time you did a top end? As for the fouling make sure your running the correct plug i belive for the 125 its a ngk br9eg and that your riding it hard on 32:1 if you sill foul it, try leaning your carb out a little. Thanks man.

I have the same bike, I fouled 1 plug since August 2016. I took a child for a ride and it loaded up. Try a 400 main jet..

Bro legit mine were 1.5 mm off and soon as I re adjusted them fucken snappy as shit !! I thought it was just cause the bike needed a little bit of time to warm and clear out but fuck no not no more legit 2 min and she’s ready

Hey what happens if your servo motors dies, can you still the ride the bike or will it run horrible ??

My rc valve doesnt hit the stop pin anymore when closing clockwise do you have an idea? when twisting the throttle the butterfly goes up and down ? so i guess the servo works
@bronson3150
@bronson3150 4 года назад
Faytal1616 could be either carbon buildup on the valve or the right side adjuster is too tight and keeping it from going all the way up

@@bronson3150 Thank you ! im gonna try the adjustment tomorrow, and for the carbon i doubt it ive done a complete rebuild cleaning every parts including power valves i got like 2 hours on it my best bet is right side cable..

@@bronson3150 thanks for your reply... I have 2 CR250R and both same deal... do you necessarily have to dismount the cylinder to do so?
@bronson3150
@bronson3150 5 лет назад
@@elcincero321 it might be possible definitely alot easier with it off the bike. The valve should open and close freely with no cables attached so when they are attached the servo motor can open and close it easily.

Helio Gabriel I've heard alot of people say they had the servo motor goes out on them so id assume it's the servo motor over the cdi. Try getting a new one from motosport or used from eBay.

@@bronson3150 What does it mean if mine is really hard to turn over (talking about the butterfly) with ur specs it feels incredibly hard to turn, and does it actually move alot while the engine is running ? , mine goes up and down after each time i give it some gas maybe 6mm, or maybe you need to rev it up really high at idle so it moves way more? sorry i cant find any other vids or specs about RC valveshaha
@bronson3150
@bronson3150 5 лет назад
@@santanikx9 the valve should open and close smoothly with the cables disconnected if not then you have carbon built up on the flaps. With the cables connected it should be fairly hard to turn because of the servo motor. When running it should open up at a certain rpm and then close again once the revs fall and yes it does open and close alot while riding.
@santanikx9
@santanikx9 5 лет назад
@@bronson3150 Ok yes i was talking with the cables attached, yes it is fairly hard to turn by fingers, I just bought the bike and done a rebuilt for having a great season start with it, the valve close and open correctly so i know the motor works but what im trying to say is it does not open and close alot like when you close and open it manually with your hand, I would love to go ride it outside and or punch the throttle to see if it open and close more but yeah, its freezing ice outside and the engine isnt broken-in yet it has like 5mins, im just trying to find the specs and know how it works but seems impossible to find like you are saying in your video haha, sorry for my english difficult to read im french !

The 12mm adjust method overly stresses the servo motor. It's better than the service manual but still wrong. Watch this video and skip to the HRC method. It is correct. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_3Vt4rh2fGU.html

12mm will never change since the power valve is against the stopper when u measured. 🤔 measuring it is unnecessary in this sense. 🤯

Obviously, but the proper way Honda recommends doesn’t allow for the bike to make its full potential. Honda probably have it set like that almost like a governor.
