Holly tech guy's are great !!! Helped me build my custom double pumper for my Ford 460. Could not have had the success I have without them . Easy to talk to and understand and super nice . I can't thank them enough . Thank you once again .
Be careful how much you loosen the lock screw because when you pry the adjustment nut up it may jump it off the brass float stud going into the carb . Also rendering the adjustment you make afterwards usless because you aren't actually turning the brass stud in or out . You are just chewing up the flat edges of the stud and inner flat edges of the nut. I found this out the hard way . Until I got frustrated drained all the fuel took the lock screw an nut completely off and saw how it all works together. It may be helpful to others as well to show the assembly out of the carb how the nut interlocks to the brass stud and what you loosening and turning the nut is doing . Great video and I did get everything set and working much better after this .
just swapped a small block chevy into an old toyota pickup and had no idea how to tune carbs. engine was stumbling all over the place, figured it out with the help of this video. thanks!
I have a 4160 Holley 600 carb, Ive had issue after issue with it. I tried returning it after 5 months of owning it but it exceeded the warranty. Please just recommend me to a Holley Professional in the Bay Area! I would love to get my Holley adjusted the right way. I’ve took it to 2 mechanics, and one of them said I bought a faulty carburetor and to return it. Im not a mechanic so I’m not going to touch the carb and mess something up I have no business adjusting. I need a professional Holley Carb Specialist in the Bay Area thank you!
To be completely honest, Holley carbs are not that hard to adjust! Just need a little coaching and help from our tech staff! What issue or issues are you having with the carb? Give us some background on the vehicle and engine too. Thx J
Add a 10 micron fuel filter before the mechanical or electric fuel pump. It will keep super fine sediment out of the needle and seats that is a major cause of flooding at idle and after shut down.
I have a holley electric pump that does not require a regulator. I put a holley carburetor on that has been sitting a few months. When I turn the pump on you can see fuel going into the engine continuously. What do you think the problem is?
Just adjusted mine today, it was wayyyy to rich. Mine has the sight holes and now I got it to where I can barely see the fuel. Car runs better, even has some more power.
I need your help.i am rebuilding a Holley 600cfm carb.i am about to purchase needle and seat valves and I found out that there are 0.97...0.110...0.120...0.130....0.150 tip.which one should I purchase??
Sadly you didn't fix my whole problem. That's because my engine is junk, haha (It's a blowby monster). I have already ordered a crate engine, and this got me started at least. I will be using the current intake for my new engine, and old engine used a 500 cfm. The new engine uses 600 cfm, so I dropped a 4160 on it. The front bowl pumped fuel out of the sight hole with the coil unplugged and cranking. Half a turn put the level right at the bottom of the sight hole. I was wondering why my engine was wanting LESS idle screw adjustment than 1.5 turns. I guess it was already getting enough through other means. THANKS!!
Slowly remove one of the lower mounting bolts. Unscrew the lower bolt slowly and fuel should start to come out. Have a rag or something to absorb the fuel.
It says 6 psi but I hear alot of guys complaining that the needle and seat gives you issues with anything over 5 ? Flooding hard starting etc ...? I have a 4412 2bbl on my 390 ci the instructions say 5to 7 psi I'm running a elec fuel pump with regulator I ran it at 3 psi in a 5 gallon can filled it up in less than 5 min 5 to 7 seems high on a 2bbl is it flow bench tested by the specs of each carb ??? As in was that carb tested to hold 6 psi ???
could this be the cause of me not getting any fuel to the carb? The sight window shows 3 quarters full, my fuel filter is full but the carb isn't spraying in fuel into the carb.
With an electric fuel pump.._do you just switch it on and off while adjusting the float? Never had ths carb on an electric pump. Only adjusted it with mechanical on running engine. Any help thanks.
If your carb has plugs it doesn't need to be running (excess fuel will just spill out of the hole) but if you have sight windows then the best way to lower a float level that is too high is to first lower the float level and then run the engine to use up the excess fuel that is still in the bowl. J
Wow, I mentioned this in my comment above. It should have been detailed in the video fellas. But now that you did here, I'm kinda feeling goofy for not having thought of it. lol
If you know or willing to know a holley they are great and have better throttle response than a carter elderbrock. but if you want easy and less upkeep with less throttle response then buy a carter
crazy4honda adjust at idle, until level seats right. Watch your fuel level rise and fall, as you adjust. Make sure you use a catch rag, to catch the leaking fuel, while you make adjustments. You don't want any fuel, leaking on electrical, wiring, parts, or any part of your ignition system, leads, plugs, distributor, or exhaust system, anything that can catch the fuel on fire. PS If your fuel level in to high ... Adjust as the video says, while your vehicle is running, so your vehicle can use, or burn up the access fuel, as you adjust to find the right level. If your level is to high, you can make an adjustment, in the right direction, as the video says or quote, before you start your vehicle, to prevent overheating. Then when you start your vehicle... after you have made your adjustment, to attempt to correct your float level, you should start to see your fuel level change, from your first start up, to give you a head start on adjustment, before your vehicle gets to hot at idle, with no air flow through your radiator, while your vehicle is parked at idle. Keep an eye on your temp, while adjusting while running. If it gets to hot, check your fuel level, before turning off. Shut it down, to let it cool down, when it cools down, make another adjustment, before you start your vehicle, When first start your vehicle, watch the level adjust, when you first start up, then adjust to suit. When you think you have your level right, allow to idle to see if the level stays correct. Then give a good rev, to see how your level behaves. When you rev, the level should fall a little bit, then self correct itself, at idle.
Hi I'm aurelio,I have a holley that does not have have a screw in the " to adjust the level of fuel also has the vizor to be able to see the fuel ,please there is someone that I can explain how it regulates the level of fuel in these holley?
I'd be happy to help you! Could you post what the list number of your carburetor is? It should be stamped on the choke tower / air horn. thx J ¡ Me encantaría ayudarte! ¿Podría publicar cuál es el número de lista de su carburador? Debe estamparse en la torre del estrangulador/bocina de aire. Thx J
hola,el nr del carburador es: 3854086 80316-2 0676 y mirándolo desde arriba pone :6R3250B Gracias. hello, the nr of the carburetor is: 3854086, 80316-2, 0676 looking at it from above puts it :6R3250B Thx Aurelio

i got my first holly early this year ....please dont go at these carbs with an attitude or in a rush that wont help you at all .....if you do. get some extra site hole screws cause they are small and hard to handle with fat greasy hands ...good luck finding it if you drop it in the engine bay
the nut has slots and doesnt screw into anything / no thread. basically a spacer. with a/f type slots on the nut that line up with the top of the adjusting screw so it cant move...err hope that makes sense.
You better be a mechanic if you own anything Holley. I wasted thirty five hundred getting a charger from them. What was I thinking? I should've bought a leaf blower instead. It would have been a lot cheaper and more power. Their tech department is terrible. The machine work is shoddy. Don't waste your time and money

Not really procedurally explained, one moment you are cw, then ccw, voice/video not in sync - sheesh guys seriously.. just all over the place- been wrenching 25 years so ill figure it out but what a collective mess for the greener folks.. do ONE process at a time, then the next, then troubleshooting.
