I like those new saddlebag securement screws. My RK (2014) has those twisting clips and they are finicky and loosen up over time.

Definitely I know they make items that secure the clips better. Heard stories about them getting loose too.

I've been experimenting quite a bit with mine. Coming off the 16' RK, ofcourse I am used to the air/pump adjustment. I attribute some of the stiffness to the overall newness of the bike.

I still like my Legend Air rid suspension on my 2007 SG. The switch is on the handlebars that let you add you reduce air pressure on the fly. Cheers

Bro, I bought a new seat thinking that was my problem cuz it would hurt the bum just on a 1 hour ride. Now I have a Lapera Daddy long that I may not need. Lol, it was turned all the way maxed out! I weigh 210 with Bout the same in the saddle bags. I set it to 5. Feels 100 times better but what’s ur weight again?

I hate the suspension. My 2017 is the roughest riding bike I've had in a long, long,time. I'm afraid something is going to break on the rear. It doesn't matter where I have the settings at. I can't believe no one else has such a Smooth ride. I've been riding since 1964, I have had some ruff bikes and this is right up there with them.

Garry Fuller Sr My 2017 road glide rides rough, I think a big part of it is the 19" front rim with low profile tire, it's like riding with a solid rubber tire. I removed the rear shocks and put progressive 944 rides better. My road king rides way better but on the road king I went with 944 in the rear and progressive cartridges in the front. I'm thinking of going with progressives in the front and getting rid of that damm low profile front tire

It does. One knob controls both.

Hello, sorry but to adjust these suspensions you only have to take into account the weight of the bisaccias, not the passenger? If I carry a 70 kg passenger, is it not taken into account? true. Thank you very much

You take total weight. This includes passenger or luggage.

Do you know if the Shocks are made by Progressive Suspension

The fronts are Showa and the back are emulsion. To my knowledge, they aren’t made by Progressive Shocks.

Not really. More of the resistance of suspension.

I rode a 2017 Ultra Limited recently on a Demo event. Really enjoy the motor. Silky smooth and lots of torque. Missed the shake at idle tho. The suspension left me underwhelmed for a variety of reasons. Most importantly, I don't think a mechanical preload is gonna match the ability to compensate for a passenger and cargo as well as air does. 2up, with full saddlebags and racks on my bike ('15 UL) that's probably 500lb. I don't have to remove a bag or twist any dials and count clicks. Just connect an air pump and adjust. 20 seconds or so start to finish. The motor is amazing but Harley really missed the mark with this suspension.

I have a neighbor that rides a 2010 SGS, and has the air suspension. He said similar things that you did about liking air more, but he did notice a difference when he took out mine. I find this system easier than the air, but you bring up some good points. Thanks for watching. I subbed to you as well.

Broncoride Thanks for the reply. I haven't ridden an Ultra Limited with this new suspension. Just the Limited Low and a RoadGlide Special. Neither of those would be set up as plush as an Ultra Limited so even the older air suspension on my 2015 would be softer. Not able to compare apples to apples. Beer is there, just didn't show it. Fits perfectly. Air shocks aren't bad at all, but I prefer the manual knob.

Unless I am wrong the new suspension on the right hand side of the bike DOES NOT have any oil in it for dampening. It uses only a spring. The shock on the left hand side is the only shock that has oil dampening. It also has a spring. So to sum it up, both shocks have springs but only the left side shock has oil dampening. This looks like it would put undue pressure on one side of the swing arm assembly. No doubt it is a big cost saving for the MOCO though.

I weigh 200, and with the knob at zero, it rides like a truck. So I'm at a loss when I hear someone say a 17 road glide rides smooth. It does not ride smoothly, at all.

Sorry man. I’ve adjusted it a couple times from 3-8 and mine rides the best around 6. In my opinion, they are a better upgrade from the earlier models, but there are several like you that don’t like the ride.

This new supsenion sinks. I trashed mine off my 2019 RK special and went back to the HD air ride. Bought a whole new system and installed it and now my bike rides smooth. Harley tells its better and all the sheep believe it. Just look at the companies out there that have suspension upgrades that say this new rear shock sucks.

Honestley the suspension is crap, i have a road glide special 2016, the crash bars set down in slow corners because the forks are too soft ,the suspension i have to set to 19 klicks thats really too hard but i ride two up most of the time,front and rear do not match. I will either save up and put Öhlins in front and rear ,or try changeing my ride style which sucks cos i like rideing the corners low....

Don't be totally married too chart.....experiment a bit . I find the chart on the lower numbers I bit stiff.( 5-9) After 10-12 they hit the numbers pretty good.

I personally don't like the concept of adjusting pre-load because it's not on the part that matters for ride quality; DAMPING! I'm actually very heavy and would have to max out the pre-load on every single one of their charts. I know people swear by Air but I'm not about that; I believe something with a Remote Reservoir like Prog970s or i was hoping for some Ohlins at this point...

Yes. I made this years ago and the stock ones were just ok. I upgraded to Legends last year and it was best decision I made.

The easiest and smartest way to fix Harley suspension is...... Throw away your stock shocks they are dangerous and disgraceful Harley should be embarrassed with their $30 rear shocks!

I ended up last year getting Legend in rear and Progressive on front. I should have done it sooner. Night and day difference. Stock ones on 17 were better than 16 OEM though.
