Great video. I like that valve adjustment tool. I've seen them on Amazon but I've never seen anyone use one before. What I do for reinstalling the spark plug (I always have trouble getting my fingers down in there to get the threads started.) is use a short piece of rubber tubing, such as windshield washer tubing, that will slip over the cap on the plug, and use that as a tool to get the plug started. It would be impossible to cross-thread the plug that way.

Thanks, Yeah, I've used the rubber tube method many times. If you ever changed plugs on a Hemi it's about the only way to do it. lol

great video. Thanks for uploading. Definitely a bit more involved of a job than my TBR7, but I suppose thats to be expected with OHC and 20hp. Definitely a cool bike with a lot of the stuff most of us have been asking for

Great video Jerry.. almost identical to the process for my old CSC SG250 and much easier than my Lifan Kpv150. I had same results as you on my Kpv.. intake was fine and exhaust was a little tight.

Jerry, I actually like it a lot.. it's really underrated.. acts more like 13.5 hp than 12. 2700 miles and really the only complaint I have is the really inaccurate speedo/odo. Accelerates well and will do about 61 on top.

@@donp1616 Lifan builds quality bikes. The inaccurate speedometer is the same with all brand bikes. Even my Vulcan S is way off. I usually end up installing the SpeedoDRD U1 to calibrate my speedometers because the inaccuracy bothers the heck out of me. lol You can calibrate the speedometer to be dead on accurate.

Completely different bikes and engine. The engine on the KPX was designed and built by Lifan and will not be found on any other bike. It's counterbalanced engine is so smooth. It also has a oil filter and not just an oil screen.

I have owned Apollo 250 (junk), a Pitster 230SC (superb), and two 2007 Lifan GY-5 dual-sports that I just sold (may buy a Lifan 250 now). One of my 200cc GY's had 8,500 miles on it and the new owner is really enjoying it; street legal in Virginia and 88mpg on the GY-5's. Lifan is THE best Asian Enduro imo

Hey Jerry, I finally purchased a KPX and used your code! I chose to let venom assemble it for me. Are they pretty trustworthy when it comes to this task? Also, I read about a throttle hesitation on the Facebook page, is that pretty bad?

I think Venommotorsports is capable of doing a good job with assembly. I have no throttle hesitation issues with mine. I have heard a few people having the issue. It just a matter of adjusting the throttle position sensor if you do have an issue.

The lock nut is 10mm, I'm not at home and don't remember the square drive size on the adjuster.

Another question time Jerry. I know lifan claims 84 mpg but what have you gotten as far as real life gas mileage? I intend on being in places that are far removed from gas stations and seeing how aftermarket tanks and whatnot is unheard of for this bike just curious if that 200+ mile figure is accurate? Just got mine a few days ago.. noticed the weak idle.. can accommodate if I slip the clutch, but glad they have a fix. Can they give a few extra degrees of timing with 93 octane to boot?

Give the engine time to break in and for the ECU to learn. Unfortunately the ECU is tuned for 85 octane so 93 octane will be a waste of money

Amazing improvement.. took ~300 miles, but great power now. 5th gear has torque too. Idle is very stable. I did manage to twist the throttle backwards, jamming the cable and throwing a check engine light. Stupid mistake, took apart the throttle grip assembly and fixed it. Had to cycle power but got it started. Ran kinda lame again, obviously in search of something. Running much better after 5 restarts so far.

I need to re-route likely shorten/replace the throttle cable.. the throttle seems to change when I turn the handlebars. Pretty minor, but precise low speed tight turn maneuver/stability is a little touchey.

@@JoseMunoz-gh4mp just make sure you have fresh non-ethanol gas and you shouldn't have any problems. Gas with ethanol will absorb moisture and turn to gel if left in the tank too long.

The engine and gear box shares the same oil. You can add oil through the dip stick.

No they will not but should be checked and adjusted after about 500 miles.

Clearance should be 0.08mm for intake and 0.10mm for the exhaust valve. The oil cooler will lower the oil temperature which will help keep the oil from breaking down and prevent early damage to engine excessive heat. You will be able to over double the mileage between oil changes. I've installed oil coolers on all my bikes.
