What about using barrel adjustment before changing the cable?

I found that I needed a lot of tension on the cable, otherwise it is too slack to move the cage to the outer ring. I moved the cage outwards using a wooden spacer and pulled on the cable with mole grips before tightening the pinch bolt very tightly.

Hello! I use the old crankset and the new Sora r3000 shifters/derailleurs, the main problem is that there is not enough pulling of the cable in order to have a gap between the chain and the derailleur cage(when the chain on big chainring). If I understand correctly, do you solve a similar problem by holding a cable not standard way between the pin and the skrew?

Great video! I used your 105 R7000 videos to upgrade from Claris to 105 groupswt. Now I want to use the claris groupset on an older frame and you are there yet again with great instructions thanks for that. I hope I can get some more of your time to answer a question. The R2000 Claris front derailleur manual mentions I have to use the shimano tl-fdr30 tool for cable alignment. I don't see you using it. Is there any reason I should use the shimano tl-fdr30?

Hi, the front derallieur sora r3000 its compatible with 105 r7000?

I've just got a Vitus Razor Disc from Wiggle, and the front mech came hopelessly out of alignment with the chainrings. It looks ok for height above the teeth but I had to reset it anyway. One thing I have had a short learning curve over is on the Claris/Sora is about the cable routing "judgement tool "(Shimano TL FDR30), I dunno if it's critical if the upward cable is central in the frame, but you went from routing the cable over the upper pin and down (n shape)to the pinch bolt at 18:50 as I think it's meant to be, to missing it altogether and going directly to the pinch bolt and being under the upper pin at 19:06 ?? It must be significant or why else would it be there.....? Must have some cam effect??
