Thank you Jeff. I thought this was interesting. You tree looks great. Anyway, I purchased a potted 4 feet flowering longan tree today. I live in a apartment and am trying to grow it miniaturized and see how it goes. No problem if it grows to 10 feet but requires trimming after. Now there is lots daylight but I'd also purchase a pair of Tadtronics LED lamps & timer to simulate daylight as at times of the year the sunlight get obstructed by the apartment.
Tony Deng Nope. Not needed. I have used b4, havent seen a difference. Make sure you get a lot of roots , Once you remove airlayer from tree, pull all but 2 leaves off, then cover whole new plant with plastic and keep in shade till new growth occurs . Make sure to leave on the tree for as long as needed.
That would try my patients, and i would have a hard time watering every two weeks. rooting some dragon fruit cuttings and eastern prickly pads right now, and i have to resist watering/ killing them with love. pads are outside, dragon fruit inside. drought conditions outside, cold weather state. Good video, well described and demonstrated in an easy way. I will probably attempt in the spring on a japanese maple, or my red maple.
Does it matter where you strip off the bark in relation to the nodes (where the leaves come out)? Some other people say you should strip near the node because the node is likely to grow roots. But in this video, you seem to be stripping far away from a node.
My wife does all the container gardening. I don’t think she has anything except bananas as we really don’t have room to grow extra stuff. Best to contact her at tropic2tropical@hotmail.com
