During my Football Manager career, I’ve had both misses and hits, but all my transfers have involved playing with clubs that don’t have a lot of money. For example, I've played the last four Football Manager games, and just recently I spent 120+10 addons on Jude Bellingham (I’m playing FM 23, and the season is 2028). I'm satisfied because he’s truly a complete player. When I buy, I use a specific system 1. Before even looking at available players (transfer players) , open your squad where you can see all players, including those on loan (Young academy players, at least for me, rarely contribute enough to be immediate starters). When reviewing your team, you have filters to check all attributes, such as goalkeeper, technique, physical, and mental attributes (I think there's also Finishing? I don’t often look at that). Once you see these important facts, you can isolate players that fit your system and those lacking the technical or mental predispositions needed to play your style. 2. Don’t dismiss players immediately. I mean that often defensive midfielders, for example, can be good center-backs. I have an example in my save. I signed Oliver Skipp for 20-30 million euros to play as a DM. I was lucky to already have an aging John Stones in my team who plays as a CB. I swapped them; Stones is a player who plays with both feet and his technique is too good for a CB, while Skipp, although his natural position is midfield, has much better defensive attributes, so he’s more useful as a CB than playing in midfield, even though he was decent as a DM. Additionally, I have Foden primarily positioned in midfield because in FM23, using him as an inside forward doesn’t give the expected number of goals, but he’s so good with the ball that he’s probably the best midfielder in terms of technical skills. 3. Buy older players, 34+, because even though when we see someone over 30, we usually start thinking about their replecment .For example, Real Madrid sold Rubin Neves for 20 million, and he was 33-34 but is really good. When I sent the save to someone with the editor, he had a current ability of 165, which is excellent.
Determination also comes into play in matches where you go behind. If you a have team full of low determination players their heads go down and things generally go from bad to worse. High determination players get some kind of boost in response to adverse situations and you can see it happen in game where your team of high determination players immediately respond positively and you start creating dangerous situations, or even equalise straight away.

The injury prone point is spot on. I bought Nypan and he’s injury prone on the game. I had to bring in a young backup attacking midfielder for him. Now I’m considering not to get at least a lot of injury prone players😂
I can't understate how important it is to make sure whatever players you sign have at least decent natural fitness. I signed Bart Verbruggen with a natural fitness of 8. Although he plays 40+ games every season, he does get injured once every couple of weeks (injuries lasting 1-4 days).
Having played the game all the way back to the very 1st championship manager. When I sign players I look straight away at determination this tells me 2 things the level in which he is determined in game when going behind and 2ndly his determination to improve off the pitch. Then I'm looking at team work and work rate. Next I look at personality (what type of influence could he have over other players) next I look at what scouts r telling me and I focus on the negatives things to look out for is how comfortable he Is in big games over the years this has changed alot as to what constitutes to a big game and many people do actually get this wrong believe it or not so anything on negative about big matches is a big no no. Lastly u can look at the style u play and have a few attributes in mind I play high press with possession so I like to go for stamina so I know a player can last 90 minutes and then natural fitness so I know how likely he is to recover after a match. Attributes really and truthfully are not the most important thing look very closely at what your scouts tell u

I also use the skin. But i dont have a lot of playerfaces, Logos and Skits anymore. Downloaded some packs and cleared the Cache, but nothing changed. What am i doing wrong?
big matches a bit overrated, there aren't really that many big matches in FM. Cup finals and derbies and that's really it. Wouldn't get hung up on it at all
Actually all European Games are classed as 'important' and any games against league leaders or huge clubs like Barca, Man United, Juve etc, even if they aren't technically 'rivals'...
