I use a dollar store plastic auger anchor for my 6' umbrella, first digging a hole and filling it with water and sand after screwing the auger into the bottom. As a backup in high winds I use parachute cord tied to the ribs with the other end tied to the umbrella bag filled with sand, with 4 half hitches on one side and a taut line hitch on the other.
Seems like a clever idea. But at 2:13 "I didn't even dig mine out. I just pulled the rope"... doesn't seem very strong if you could just pull the rope? Thanks for sharing!
Yeah, that was my wife. She only had her frisbee in the sand about 4-6 inches. I recommend putting the at least a foot or more down. You will break the frisbee before you could ever pull it out when its that far in.
I bought some Beer Pong buckets from 5 Below. I drilled a hole an inch from the top of the buckets so the canopy ropes can be tied onto. i filled each bucket with sand and added water. The wind was no problem.
I like this idea. Not sure I'd trust a dollar store frisbee to keep a knot from stretching the plastic enough to let the knot slip through. Maybe reinforce the hole by gluing large washers on either side of the hole?
I like that idea. My theory is, if the holes and frisbee are in jeopardy of breaking due to wind, the canopy isn't safe to be up. We just take it down if it gets to be that windy.
@@adriyolanda2129 that's awesome. Glad you can put it to use. We are heading to Delaware beaches tomorrow night and will be using it as much as possible. Hope you have a great trip!
Adri Yolanda just curious if you tried this anchor system on your canopy?I am considering this set up as well. We go to Daytona and PC beach a good bit and I liked this idea.
Lol I do the same thing essential but with my slippers at the beach. Dig a whole a foot down. Tie off my slipper with the guideline on the tent and bury it.
I use the corkscrew steaks that you put in the Ground to tie your dog leash to and 4 ratchet straps The tent definitely won’t blow away it will get destroyed before it will lol
Our neighbors were throwing the one we’re using in the trash. I’m not sure what brand it is. It looks like one you may get at Dicks Sporting Goods. We have a “good tent” for places that don’t have salt and sand. We got that from RTIC Coolers website and it’s been a great canopy.
Jesus paid it all, all to him I owe. I love it! We only use the frisbees and never had it blow away. I can't stress enough though, if the wind is dangerously strong we don't set up the canopy.
Thanks bro, I am gonna give it a try. I forgot we had a sport brella, so I am gonna try it on that first. I found this old, cheap aluminum pot with a hole in the handle. I think that might work good too. It can double as a shovel as well. The big canopy does seem a lot better. I checked out that website you mentioned below at rticoolers.com but didn't see any tents. Gonna keep looking though. Subbed by the way...thanks for the feedback 👍
I just bought the moon pence pop up tent on amazon and it’s awesome. You Definetly have to practice at home first but it’s so easy I’m a single woman and it’s easy for me with a couple of extras hands. Fully enclosed and great for naps!!
4 5 gallon buckets work well. The water is right there so just fill them up when you get there and dump them when you leave. They’re really light easy to carry and no digging
I bet that really holds it down. With all the other stuff I have to lug to the beach, 4 5 gallon buckets seems a but excessive for me but glad it works for you!
People nitpicking over them not showing it being buried deeper and/or not using proper knots and hitches. Which I agree they should have but still, it’s a great idea shown in a short vid 🙌🏾
We use a 10x10 poptent so all 13 of my family can sit in the shade if needed. Unfortunately the Augbrella isn't big enough. We've had it up in sustained 25 mph winds, and it is rock solid. If it the wind gets above that we just take it the whole canopy down. No sense in risking it fly away and injuring someone. Thanks for the comment!
@@herecomethelankfords1596 Wonderful idea! I upgraded and bought another canopy with the vented top. I am still going to use your Frisbee suggestion as well.
@@herecomethelankfords1596 Thanks. Just ordered the stakes. Our favourite beach is quite breezy. I’ve seen at least one other canopy fly down the beach and hoping to avoid that.
