Rather than insert the bolt into the sleeve and hammer the bolt (you can damage the threads) just tap in the sleeve directly. You can place a block of wood over the sleeve as well to protect it.
Yes, that is another way to do it Mike and they went in with no issues and I did it that way so I could get them below the surface by an 1/8 of an inch or so.

Gabriel, at 2:32 in the video, you can see where I have them stored by welding some pipes that they could slide in easily. I also welded other pieces of pipe for the smaller accessories.
