Our company hired out an animation from another company and it didn't quite turn out the way we wanted. I was tasked with trying to figure out how to redo it. This video is exactly what I needed. THANK YOU. Also, you are a fantastic teacher. Your delivery and pace is stellar

Thanks so much for the kind words! So glad this helped you out. :)

I love Keyshot. These videos tend to highlight the shortcomings of the software though and I think it would be awesome if the dev team paid attn. The fact you need to manually enter each “blink” vs copy/paste on a material animation is wild

Finally, I found a solution to these stupid overexposures with light materials. Thank you very much!

Learnt some new details of the LED lighting, especially the bloom threshold section. Will use this in one of my renders and see if I can see the difference. Thank you once again.

So impressive, every step you explained absorbed and apart from all 2000 samples... That's shocking to hear about... We are working on low cpu but anyhow always the best tutorial and followes every second...
@WillGibbons
@WillGibbons Год назад
Yeah, unfortunately, this approach does require a lot of samples to resolve. You can rely more heavily on denoising and try disabling caustics if needed.

Do you know how to upgrade to KeyShot 2023 from an older cracked version without re-installing?
@WillGibbons

Yeah, it's called buying the software. Stop using stolen software.

Pretty cool! I wonder if there would be a way to import an Arduino code for an LED animation somewhat similar to multi-layer optics material.
@WillGibbons
@WillGibbons Год назад
Hmm. Not really. I mean, you would need to convert the code to 1 and 0 or keyframes and then generate a black and white value output in the form of animation. Then, render those frames out and use them as a video map and import that. It's kind of a tedious process, but I've done it where I converted a song into keyframes, then generated B&W values based on a threshold of keyframe value in after effects. Then, used that video map to control the blinking.

How long did your render take to process at 20k samples? I've never rendered anything near that high, so it makes me think I'm doing something wrong, even ~100 sample renders seem to take hours per image/frame. I've got a very capable custom desktop and laptop, and have tried on both, along with plenty of lighted/mixed transparency products at work. Still get a lot of fireflies, and transparent renders just take way too long to be able to realistically render out a long animation. Any tips on maximizing quality while minimizing render time?

Honestly, I can't recall. I was rendering on a fairly powerful GPU. GPU rendering in KeyShot yields many more samples per second than CPU rendering, thus your sample count ends up being substantially higher (by a factor of 3-10 in many cases).

Great video, super helpful. I was just wondering, when I go into GPU mode I get little round light spots (noise). How do I fix that?
@WillGibbons
@WillGibbons Год назад
Not sure... is it actually noise or is it a different artifact? Which version of KS? Past versions had a bug where dnoise + bloom on GPU was creating big white splotches. I think it's a bug.

Hey Will, how long did you have to render this and what GPU are you currently using?

HELLO please can you help me , is there any way to annimatee Blinking & Glowing LED but with a texture on it , please I need this asap , anyone can help.
@WillGibbons
@WillGibbons 7 месяцев назад
A texture on it? I'm not sure what you need to achieve? Texture on the LED glass? Does the light need to project an image? Short answer is probably. But not sure what you're after really.

Hi! When i go to graph material, "area light" only gives me the color option, and not the power one. Do you know what can i do to make it appear?

I believe you might be able to avoid making extra key frames by duplicating the animation layer in the animation timeline. Should save a lot of time if it works
@WillGibbons
@WillGibbons Год назад
Good thinking, but not for material animations. I think it's only possible for part animations.

when I am applying 25 lumen it seems to be to low for a glow, so I am force to ramp it up to 1000 which messes up the animation. How can I fix it
@WillGibbons
@WillGibbons 10 месяцев назад
I'm not sure. Were you using my model or something else? The strength of the light will be dependent on the scale of the scene/objects. Did you use photogrpahic mode and the firelfy filter?
@gurbazful
@gurbazful 10 месяцев назад
@@WillGibbons no I am using another model, its is a car model, and I am trying to animate the headlamp LED. Like you said I think the scale of the model is creating that issue, should I try scaling down the whole model ?
