** Note: I learned shortly after creating this video, lower levels of cloudiness produce the best results when using cloudy plastic material! Sorry about that!

Having done your Rendering Course, this now is totally achievable and I can comprehend what is going on. This is an excellent tutorial with great tips and useful feedback from the comments below. Thank you for sharing with us!

Can you make a video making one of those acrylic lamps in which you light one of the sides and the engravings light up? And also how would you render an infinity mirror?

Good requests. I've done an infinity mirror... I'm not sure about the acrylic lamp you're referring to. I might need to see an example of it!

Often lightpipes irl are polished to maximise internal ray bounces and then a satin finish where you wish for the light to difuse. Did you try splitting the light pipe geometry so only the exit point was cloudy and the rest remained dielectric? Or does the separated geometry mess with the ray bounces?

Ooh! Great call. I didn't realize this. I wold have to test it. I would advise against splitting the geo, however, it's not hard to apply some roughness to the end of the pipe/tube, so it's certainly worth trying. Through several conversations I've had since publishing this video, I've learned a few things... I may need to redo this one in the near future!

@@WillGibbons Roughness on the end of the pipe sounds like a great idea too.

This all setup can i find in glb file also?

Sorry, no. I don't think I created a GLB. Maybe you can export from KeyShot as GLB.

You can see in the video, that the light is shown at the end of the light pipe. It does indeed work. I never claimed that it renders quickly or easily. It does indeed take some time to render.

Hello! Thank you for all your useful material. I have one quick question about HDRI lighting. If I want to achieve this type of highlights on a golf club, what method do you suggest? That gives me control to put it only on a desired part of the club and also give me the cool bright highlight shapes. Thank you, i.imgur.com/aeTkOMh.jpg

You might be able to do it with the HDRI editor. Look at using 'half pins' They allow you to have a gradient with a sharp edge. I am not 100% sure if that golf club image was actually lit this way though or if those highlights were added later. They also might have combined a few different images to get the lighting they wanted.
