Is it okay to clarify few assumptions with interviewer or it's fine to make our own assumptions based on the facts that we know?

Yes that does for sure but the estimate has to be in a ballpark if possible

@@TheSwagWalaPM Right. Any list of facts that you keep handy? Like tier 1,2,3 income ratios. Gender ratio. Age distribution. As you mentioned number of people using smartphones as well that will help in certain set of problems like number of youtube users etc. Anything else you would like to add to this list?
