I used to hold my cat against her will when I was younger (just giving her love) but she hated it and wanted nothing to do with me. When I got to be around 17-19 I stopped. Nothing happened for a year or so but eventually she came up to me asking for me to pick her up and she has done it every day since. She comes and stands (on her hind legs) either on my leg or against a counter and she paws and meows at me xD I gave her space and respect and now she’s obsessed with me 🤣

I found that blinking is indeed very helpful not just for apologising but also for making your cat(s) relaxed.

Some 10 years ago I started to take care of one local stray cat living in the forest, winter was coming and I had started to hear cat fights on my yard after dark. When went to look around, always saw this same cat there and some other running away. Started feeding it and finally lured it inside the house. Had seen it as kitten in nearby forest some 8 months earlier, so wasn't fully adult yet, also quite spicy at first. Later he calmed down and could already touch him, but was still mostly just hiding somewhere in the house. I was sleeping nights on sofa in the living room to make him more used to me, and at times could hear him walking around and sniffing around me - we were clearly making progress. Then on one night woke up on scratch sounds, saw cat standing on top of the backrest and staring at me... slowly he started to climb down on top of me, all time staring, and then laid down on my chest. Closed my eyes and we started sleeping, was very happy he finally gave his trust - was like from some movie! Or atleast I thought so then... Some few hours later woke up again - this time on some odd discomfort, tried to fix blanket which felt bad under me and stuffed it more tightly. After a few minutes of struggle to get a better posture, I started to also hear some odd sounds, woke up a bit better and realized what was going on - I had turned on stomach while sleeping, cat was now under my full weight, struggling to wrestle out to safety... obviously I immediately let the cat free, he left like he was shot out of a cannon and ran downstairs absolutely terrified... After his very first attempt to get close went like that, it took a LOT of effort to get his trust back, sure needed to learn how to apologize a cat lol... Took some time but all ended well, he's the nicest cat ever and still lives here, nowdays he even climbs on top of my chest when I go to sleep - but he never stays, after a few minutes he always climbs down and sleeps next to me instead.

When cats are “embarrassed” they quickly lick themselves. Leg or paw or side. My one cat does apologize by headbutting me around the legs. The other cat never does anything needing an apology so she just sits close to me. Cats also recognize many words and/or sign language

Just, never hurt your cat. They are very sensitive. Your relationship builds over time, but can break with one bad incident. Trust is everything

how long do cats stay angry... well... I have a six year old cat that my brother gave a bathe to when she was 6 months old, and to this day, she absolutely wont let him near her. lol

I got mad at my cat because he knocked something irreplaceable on the floor. I yelled at him and he meowed sadly and went under the bed. Now I feel so sad and I might cry. I'm so glad to know that many cats don't like to be picked up. My 4-year-old Freddie doesn't like to be picked up, doesn't cuddle with me or lay next to me or even sleep with me, and he actually is still a little bit skittish even with me; however the Humane Society from which I adopted him said that he was feral. Am I to assume that these behaviors are because of that?😮

I have two cats, that I kinda "adopted" from my partner, ever since we started dating and now that we have been living together for almost a year. One was a very violent cat that would scratch and hiss anyone near her. With lots of play and even more patience she opened up to me and became a very cuddly and loving cat. The other one is way more difficult. She is very shy and very scared all the time, I managed to make her less anxious with playing and rewarding with treats, but if, for example, we meet in the hallway, she would suddenly be very scared and try to escape. She has always been this way, and sometimes it gets on my nerves. What I tried that works is to stop and crouch to make myself smaller and stay put in place so instead of running away she can walk around me. She wont do this in any other situation or in any other parts of the house. I did realice that cleaning makes her super anxious and she goes into escaping mode, running from room to room and back, so I usually try not to clean in the room she is in, like, I'd close that room and clean and she'd feel safer. She also doesn't like music, unless it's very soft. But I don't know how to make her less anxious all the time and more confortable. Could you give me any tips? I'll start to implement saying sorry everytime I scare her (this morning she started running back and forth the rooms because I wanted to clean the office before work, and I apologised like you said in the video. She is way calmer now that I'm not sweeping the floors, so it was easy to interact and pet her a little.

I tripped over my kitten last night and the screech she let out broke my heart... She got a lot of treats as an apology cause I felt so bad.

I haven't watched this video (yet) but I'm guessing it doesn't involve running around the apartment yelling, "Come back! I need to apologize to you!!!" Now off to watch the video 😄

My cat understands alot of human words like:sorry, hi, i love you, foods ready and the most important one : ✨no✨

My 4 months kitten always comes to me purring,kneading his claws on my face and neck and I don’t understand something that he does like he will put his mouth on my neck or just kiss me on the lips 🤣 But i always stop the lips thing because i feel his nose is wet . He always do that whenever he is sleepy then after like 5 minutes he will go down beside me then say meow the. Sleep. But one thing he doesn’t really like is belly rub and picking him up. He will come anytime but don’t pick him up🤣He sleeps on the headboard of our bed . And in the morning he will come to me stepping on my face , showing his butt and moving around just to wake me up.i give him food then go to sleep again. When i wake up he is sleeping beside me . But sometimes i can’t help myself giving him kisses on his cheeks or head. The cuteness makes me hug him so bad🤣sometimes we accidentally hit them unintentionally like one time he bit my ti*s i was shoked and in pain so i automatically got mad. But after that i just gave him food and talked in lower voice . Even if we fo not want to hit or shout sometimes it just happens accidentally. One thing i noticed is the cat feels ur heart. They know how much love u can give. And so they stay and love u back. Mistakes happens.. but we can make it right and avoid doing it again as much as possible

Wait 'till it gets hungry again. Feed it, and all is forgiven. It's simple- but, then, so is a pussycat brain. LOL- I *love* my cat, and I do my best to NOT do anything requiring pussycat forgiveness.

I miss my cat but I'm not where I live. (for the summer) I promise my cat food, cuddles, & all he loves. Maybe I am crazy, how much times I made my cat homes&toys I invent food for him & share my lunch. My cat (cutie) is a gift from god it's to all of us in our family a family member. I am crazy for cats. I know he will never forget me.

Look in cat's eyes and when they look in your eyes move your eyes and see something else do it 2/3 times. Apologize in cat language and they'll understand.

i have two bombay cats, they act as if im the worse human they have ever met, and yet i try to give them every chance possible to show them they are loved. why are they scared of me, and rarely engage in consolment, they rarely sleep on my bed unless i put them there, and even at that its a polite walk off. also sometimes my cats eyes are golden and other times they are green, is this a day/night thingy ???????
