Have been really wanting to get into AE over RS for something new but it's really intimidating to begin clean. Really appreciate the clear and concise videos. New sub here.
Excellent pacing and clarity, better than any AE 2 'project' I've seen on a streamer's play-through. At 16:33 on the Storage Bus, it might be useful to note that while the filter mode behaves exactly like the import/export buses from 10:25 on, the import and export buses actively push and pull items through the system. A Storage Bus only interacts with the attached storage when an action involves items it has in stock or can deposit. The action drives the moving. Like all interfaces, the priority picks that Bus if higher for pushing and if lower for pulling. It might be helpful to mention that both are counted as distance from the AE 2 network controller. The Storage Bus filter system means that even at this level of understanding, your AE2 system can do very complex things. You can drive LaserIO or ElementalCraft's linear pipe or Botania's crafty crate to run single-item-count, shaped and ordered crafting recipes. The last being insanely hard to automate outside of Integrated Dynamics. (e.g., Hexerie seed food, Hexerie washing or ElementalCraft advanced materials.) Sadly, if you are playing with AE 2 on a modpack that includes Refined Storage, a similar digital storage mod based on AE 1, there is no easy way to exchange items between them. Unlike the annihilation/formation planes trick does for exchanging items between AE 2 systems as shown at the end of the video (at 25:41) all methods are quite slow. Although if you are going RS-to-AE2, you can setup an annihilation plane 'pit' and stand in it while dropping things from the RS remote grid. Be sure to detach any external storage before doing such a thing. You don't want to manually drop a whole fully-upgraded Functional Drawer of cobblestone with upwards of 2.4 billion blocks. Even if you have a keyboard macro setup to drop items that will take hours when you hit that item.
I am fully onboard with you man! From mekanism guides to this, but damn I have to rewatch this because these lessons are alot to take in! Good work nevertheless mate! Thank you for reviewing this, I hope you do a create mod tutorial one day!!
Thank goodness for channels like yours, there are some mod packs that leave out the guidebook for some of these mods expecting the person to already know it... I just started getting into mod packs and was playing a mod that had me2 storage... But I just couldn't figure out how to make it work properly...
One day... one day I'll build a base that runs itself. I've been trying for what feels like centuries to do the AE thing to make a base that just runs itself, but either burnout, life, or distraction always gets the better of me. Trying to get back into the mod. Thanks for reminding me of what a Storage Bus is. My base is currently like 90% Storage Drawers, and while I'm using yer videos to upgrade to AE right now, I'm thinking of leaving a few around for "bulk" items like dirt and cobble.
Hey there thanks for such a plain English explanation of this mod, it's the best I've seen! I'll be using this knowledge in my next video... I'd love to see a comparison video of AE2 vs RS, which one do you use in your modded worlds? Cheers, RevivedGrain (new sub)
Why would I ever want an import bus when I could just move everything over with the terminal? Also those annihilation planes seem super useless too, I don't know anyone who would rather sit there dropping things out of their inventory as opposed to just once again right clicking the terminal and shift-clicking everything into your drives.
Each side of 1 controller block is 32 channels so in theory you have 192 channels from 1 block. However you can multi block the controller by slapping more together. You can get thousands of channels with a large enough brain
im trying to export items from my ME system in to a large storage crate in a different mod but its not working, its got an item in the filter but nothings going through. is there a specific pipe or a am i doing somthing wrong
Hi, great video. I tried connecting the bus to the "entangled block with storage controller" but it didn't work. does it just go straight? (i try in StoneBlock 3)
What do u hook up to power energy cells instead of coal generator I’ve got melon farm for power, do I just use a flux point to transfer power plus my energy cell doesn’t light up so keep thinking it’s not powered.
If you want to use a flux point or another mod to power your ae system then you have to put it on a energy accepter first otherwise the vibration chamber is the only way to power it. i.e. if you use mekanism's cables then you use the universal cables connect those to the energy accepter first then use the ae2 cables to connect the rest of your system. alternatively you can connect the universal cable directly to your controller and power it that way but you lose access to a set of channels.
All cables should connect to the energy accepter block just fine. If not then you will have to find another way of converting EU to AE. Maybe you'll have to use a different mod to go from EU to RF then RF to AE. To be honest I'm surprised you are playing with a 1.19.2 version of Industrial Craft. I thought that lost development
Really good tutorial but you could szare the recipes translating Like cool you can show someone how it looks but I think its unnesessary to explain whats items are these Tales a lot of time and I think everyone uses JEI with tech packshot Even you So yea What you should Focus on is to explain which black does what That would be extra cool
12:06 the exporter and the importer don't work! I use the exporter and it IMPORTS the item instead of exporting them... and the importer EXPORTS the item instead of importing them. NOTHING WORKS! NOTHING GETS OUT AND NOTHING GETS I.... THE MOD CREATOR IS A CLOWN.
They do work as intended. The exporter takes things OUT of the ME system. The importer puts things IN the ME system. Don't get it confused with taking things in and out of a machine. Always look at it from the perspective of the ME system
@@Mondays3 the exporter to me imports the items... and the importer exports them. They don't work properly... when i used the exporter to export the items from a chest to the storage it did NOTHING. When i used the importer, it exported the items from the storage to the chest... wtf?!
@@Sir.BlackHole no that’s how it’s meant to work. You use an importer from a chest to the me system. You use a export to go from the me system to the chest. It’s working exactly how I explained
I understand where you are coming from and a lot of people get confused with the same thing. You always have to think about what you want the ME system to do. Not what you want to happen from the chest or machine
