Yes! You would want to apply a very thin coat of Base Gel for added strength to your soft gel polish services.

Silly question... aside from its intended purpose as a foundation, is the base gel multifunctional? Can it also be used in any other application?

You can also use Base if you are layering in designs or doing dimensional nails. Applying it in a thin layer and adding your glitters/confetti's/mylars/etc works great so the nail doesn't get too thick and then cap this with you Build/Sculptor gel to create the structure. You can also use the Base if you are doing a simple two week fill. We just don't recommend using it for sculpting full sets or rebalances as the more Base you use, the more intense the heat spike can be. Use it sparingly and in thin layers.

You can do that. It's a preference. Some like to attach the forms, sculpt the extension and then apply the base.

Like YN said, I personally like putting my forms on first then build my free edge and then apply my base. The only reason I do it that way is incase I needed more structure for my free edge and it's missing a little product the base will help my free edge be secured. I hope I made since and this helped you a little!

So what would be better to use to attach full cover tips (like apres)? Base or flex? If the answer is base, what if flex best used for?

Either would work, it just depends on what consistency you prefer. Keep in mind you still want to apply a coat of Base to the natural nail and cure if you are using Flex as Base will have the best adhesion to the natural nail. You can use Flex for building extensions (works especially well when doing dimension nails and layering in glitters/mylar/confetti/etc) as well as mixing your glitters into it to make glitter gels.

I feel like i grab too much gel for the nail. But too little doesnt move as well. Legit how do I fix this? Is my gel too thick?

It may depend on what gel you are using and what you are trying to do. If you are applying the Base, this should be brushed on thin, so a small amount is enough. If you are building the nail structure, we do have different consistencies of gel. The Flex is the thinnest and most self leveling, Build/Build Pink are a medium thickness and the Sculptors are the thickest, with the Clear Sculptor in the pot being even thicker and not self leveling. Here is one of our videos to help you understand the difference in our gels.
