Great video! Thank you. Note that a "Quarter" is "3 months" NOT "4 months" as you calculated. "Quarter" means divided into 4 equal parts. 12 months divided by 4 is 3 months.

First of all thank you thank you!!! this is the best and most organized explanation video I've come across hands down.. So I don't do well with brevity.but within this too much information are 3 basic questions. The first having to do with WHICH STATE I file for unemployment in since I've only worked/and now use an address in California... but officially...as I haven't yet changed my residency... am still a resident of Vermont. Any and all taxable documented work I've had for the last 18 months has been these last six months in California as prior to that... For the last two years had been put on disability about $700 a month for a chronic illness injury I am slowly recovering from. Come this last October now finally able and wantin to get back to work... and frankly HAVING to supplement...the help from disability my pride kept me from taking for many many years and which my pride now motivates me to hopefully NOT have to take ... If I can completely recover. Regardless I began weekly part-time work this last October with a steady ongoing gig thou.month to month as a 1099 independent contractor. The plan of course was to both continue to work for this company as needed AND take on more work as both the teacher I once was and the gig work with Uber and caretaking and dog walking that I had been doing before getting too sick to work a few years ago. Like so many ...Work abruptly ended for me as of March 13th..as did the pre-planned and arranged gig work I had set up for my impending permanent move down to the San Diego area... I had been working up in Monterey California... I don't know if that makes a difference in terms of county. Now I'm in a situation like everybody else ...as I definitely am living hand to mouth....where I'm finding it impossible to get even temporary work.....thou I'm really working hard to find anything anywhere..I still am not a permanent resident of California as I was just about to officially begin to change my residency when all this hit.... Having never before filed for unemployment. I have no records as such in Vermont and I haven't filed local for federal taxesI for a while now having neither made enough to do so ....and then being on disability. I do have a tax form with the gross amount from all the work in last five or six months from this one California employer but I had not gone ahead yet and filed my 1099. So firstly of course is which state I should file. my second question is should I go ahead now and fill out that 1099 and send in 2019 tax forms. And my third question comes down to an ethical question more than anything. I've always been a hard worker and don't like to take any more than I need and I'll be very lucky and grateful if I receive the $1,200 stimulus check so sorely needed. .however I can't pretend that I'm now in a very hard place with no savings and in between moves...so no home of my own. ever since I saw the writing on the wall I have been urgently trying to get any and all work as a fruit picker a grocery stocker I'm not picky and so far have not been able to secure... so I can't pretend that I've not been digging myself out of a very deep black hole full of debt and debilitating illness...And that I don't need or want any and all help I can find.. That said... If I can find work it would have to be full-time at this point in California where I know I will be living does one then let unemployment know immediately that I am receiving some kind of money each week although right now that's just desire not a reality. Long ago I understood that if I chose a life in the arts and theater I conscientiously shouldn't have children until/if ever I had the financial security

Can you please do a walk through for those filing as self-employed 1099 for UI in California? also what to do if you have multiple jobs, both W2 and 1099? I lost 1 job that is W2 (that I earn the least $ with) and I lost multiple jobs that are 1099. some one keeps commenting for self-employed to use DBA as company name.... I think that is incorrect?

Just a FYI..I found out the total quarterly gross wages are NOT required to fill in , it does not have the red asterisk next to it! You can just skip that part makes it so much easier to complete.

Where do you get the DD 10 digit account numbers when viewing a claim? I never received an email with a 10 digit number

Filed on March 20th & before I received my EDD customer # online says disqualified for weeks 3/21 & 3/28 but have not received letter saying that or letter to appeal. I have emailed several times with no answer to my emails. Don’t know what to do. I call just to go thru loops of saying go online & hangs up.

Should the disaster information part..... be a yes since a disaster is due to the covid 19 and the president announced an national emergency due to this? just curious if that affects anything with the care regarding the extra 600?

UPDATE: after 3 weeks of hearing nothing from EDD and even though I skipped the part where you have to state your wages (hadn’t seen this wonderful video then) I finally got a reply today. I’ve been approved! I received my 10 digit account number (praise the lord) and I can breathe again! A big thank you to Digital Sage Nomad and David Boston for taking the time to answer my questions. Don’t despair folks! Even if,like me ,you cannot find a way to contact the agency or your calls don’t go through they will answer. It just takes longer now. Good luck everyone and God bless.

I filed for unemployment benefits on 3/23. Haven’t heard anything yet and I’m getting frantic. I know I made a mistake (wish I had seen this video) where it says “did you work for any other employer in the past 18 months I answered no because I only have one job and had already given that info.As a result there was nowhere to enter my earnings.when I got to the end I kept going back to see where to state earnings saw nothing. So my question is did anyone else make same mistake but was contacted by EDD anyway? Do you know of a way to contact them? And lastly is there a way I can file again? Thank you so much. CA EDD didn't send me all the paperwork after I filed. All I got was "file new claim" or "register or manage" options, but no EDD account number form, no unemployment information booklet, no indication of mail from them, I even asked them through their "ask a question" system which I selected the email response but no reply. I checked a few videos on what else I was supposed to do afterward but it seems that the UI online / benefits page doesn't even show the other options like "certify for benefits"

I look on INDEED daily for the fall, hoping it is open then. Still, what do I list for who I called when NO school is open during the virus????

Hello I filed to do a backdate on my claim and I got an email back from edd saying "Thank you for your inquiry. Our records indicate that your request to backdate your claim is completed. Therefore, no action will be taken at this time". Does this mean I got approved?

Why did I not find you and watched your video before I filled my claim. I was so stressed out that I didn’t realized I missed the part where I have to enter my gross quarterly earnings and the rest of the questions on that page. I thought it shouldn’t have kept going to next if there was an error or I missed to answer a question. But yes since I didn’t review it well enough I hit the submit button and a confirmation - claim filed appeared with a confirmation #. Now Im in panic mode cause I don’t know If I can go back and reopen to fix my mistakes or wait for a call to tell me I messed up and needs fixing thus the delay 😫. My claim says not paid a day after certifying. What does that mean?? Everything says $0.00 and cant get ahold of no one. Trying to be patient but so frustrating that people who applied way after me already have been approved!

Hi. So I apply this back in March 23. On April 3 I get the email saying my account has been created and I can log in. So I login but didn’t see much... saw all the important information that I input for my mother. When I click on the house icon. Is take my back to the page where they show you how much you get paid. Well is said 0. And I haven’t receive any notes that said if she disqualified or anything. So are they still processing at the moment? And I will have to wait..... she files her tax already W2
