How to apply Insanely Simple | FastCap LLC quick Tour | Paul Akers
The title of this talk is called Insanely Simple. I start with one of my favorite people, Alan Malawi, who took over the Ford Motor Company in about 2008 when it lost 12 billion per year. Alan Malawi was a former vice president of the Boeing Corporation and turned Boeing around, and was the leader of the 7 77 and 7 37 projects. Two of the most successful airplanes in world history. Alan went into Ford and immediately applied an insanely simple formula by cutting the number of cars that Ford offered from 80 to 40.
I got this idea from originally was Steve Jobs. He said Small groups of intelligent people. He often only had meetings with at most seven people in a forum. And this insanely simple profile allowed Apple to remain small and agile throughout its existence, even though it became one of the biggest companies in the world.
I kept it insanely simple at FastCap LLC because I created a building that cost me 2.2 million. When the cheapest bid I got from everyone else was 5.5 million to build it, I successfully made it for only 2.2 because I kept it insanely simple. I standardized the windows, the doors, and the floor covering; I took down all the walls on the interior and created a world-class building that people from around the world come to see, even though it cost 3 million less than what it should have cost.
So the essence of my talk is simplicity attracts complexity repels. How could you apply this to your current state?
Hopefully, you will enjoy the video. Remember to like and subscribe and pass this on to other people. Let's change the world together.
